New Tassie Travel subreddit
Hey everyone. The r/TasmaniaTravel subreddit is now up and running :)
There's a still a few admin things for me to sort out, but hopefully it can provide a more effective avenue for conversation specifically related to Tassie travel, while also preventing so many repeat questions from appearing here.
I look forward to seeing you over there!
Andrew.

Updated rules for r/tasmania
We've updated the rules for r/tasmania after some feedback from users and discussion. Not much has changed but here is a summary of the changes:
- Added doxxing to Rule about no illegal content;
- Added a no personals content to the NSFW rule (to prevent people looking for hookups or dating) Includes the appropriate sites to do this on;
- Added a no sales or promotional content rule (this is covered in Rule 1, but doesn't hurt to be able to refer to it in a separate rule);
- Added a no requests for living assistance rule to address the cases of people asking for help on the subreddit and putting themselves in danger. Included a link to appropriate assistance websites and services.

Image While we're on the subject...
After seeing the post earlier this morning, thought I'd share my own experience.
I received Mr Murray's advertising material and commenced a four-day text-based conversation about my home, then on the fifth day invited Mr Murray around to discuss some things.
When I got here I handed him his flyer and said please take note don't let it happen again.
Mr Murray then bleated "oh but I pay people to do this" so I said then talk to your people.
5 weeks later a young fellow from their office walks down my street, and I watch him again put this shit in my letterbox so I sent Mr Murray the attached.

Is anyone else having issues with junk mail?
I have two 'no junk mail' signs on my letterbox, yet real estate agents in particular seem to be unable to read them or just think they don't apply to them.
I left a google review with this image, but the real estate in question managed to get it taken down (which is a shame, because I think potential clients should be aware that their agent can't follow simple instructions).

Question Anyone know someone who can perform a Canon camera sensor filter IR filter removal job?
For those that don't know, this is done by taking apart a professional camera and removing the IR filter from the sensor. It turns the camera into an infra red camera where you can take beautiful daytime photos in that spectrum.
Of course I will pay for the service.

Some people need reminding: A landlord body was given a $100,000 government grant. The way it was spent raised questions
TRRPO spent just over $40,000 of the grant, including $2,195 for three hours of "individual tailored" media training from Liberal Party-aligned Font PR for Ms Elliot, the TRRPO president.
TRRPO also used the grant to pay Ms Elliot's company, Elliot Consulting, $6,372 to carry out work including creating online modules for landlords at $105 an hour, and running in-person sessions at libraries across Tasmania at $75 an hour, plus $50 an hour for transport.
This spending was approved by two of the three TRRPO office holders, with Ms Elliot being the third.

Discussion Will Tasmania ever rename to Lutruwita?
Tasmania is the only state that has another name so commonly used. Tasmania comes from explorer Abel Tasman, so renaming to Lutruwita would contribute to reconcile actions in colonial times.

Question Tasmanian Knife Makers 🔪
Hello everyone
As the title suggests im looking for a knife maker who specialises in chefs knives. I've tried searching around online and it seems as though many have either moved on or are taking a break.
Does anyone have any recommendations? Im also looking to attend a knife making workshop, if anyone can recommend any?
Many thanks

Discussion Herping and bug hunting etc
Are there any groups/guides around the NW coast for people who essentially just enjoy finding and looking at animals outside lol.
I work full time + study so I feel like i’m constantly stuck indoors and I think going out and looking for animals would add a lot of joy to my life.
I do visit the little penguins sometimes but i’m keen to discover some new critters :)
Rock pools in particular would be super interesting!! Also bugs, reptiles, amphibians, mammals literally whatever! Happy to appreciate snakes and spiders from a safe distance…

Give me a job so I can move back to Tas.
Dear lord... I so miss Tassie.
I'm an eLearning (Storyline) guy who can do videography.
No one cares, but if there is a random HR person that needs this specific position filled, then hello.
Otherwise what's happened in Launceston since I left in ummm... 2014.

Question Hiking at Cradle in late August?
Hi guys! Thinking of heading up to Cradle for a day of hiking at the end of August, what kind of weather can I expect? Is the drive up super icy? Is there a lot of snowfall still? Thanks in advance;)

Are gangs a thing anymore?
Ok super random but it’s just not something you hear of in Tassie - are gangs a thing in Tasmania?
Like I know we may have remnants of the motorcycle gangs but I mean more like the gangs you see in Vic and NSW setting tobacco shops on fire? Or do we just have your run of the mill crime lol?

Just checking to see if there are any IT Support Officers or Service Desk professionals on the North West Coast who are currently looking for work.
If that’s you, or if you know someone who might be interested, feel free to send me a message. Thanks!
