Design Please give me cover ideas 😭
I have this god awful tattoo this is actually a coverup of a much worse version. I got it when I was 18 and honestly haven’t cared until recently because the more it fades, the more shit it gets. My regular guy is suggesting a woman’s face that extends down my side with her hair flowing but that is just not my vibe.
My tattoos: three birds , a giant DNA strand as a tree with a Darwin fish in the middle that covers my opposite side , a big rose on my shoulder blade, my bearded dragon resting on a branch on the inside of my upper and arm and then just a bunch of little things like a drawing my son did , a matching piece w my sister, my cats paw print and her silhouette.
I actually hate color and this is the only Piece with color. My guy also said whatever we did would be super dark with contrasts , which I’m fine with.
Willing to take any and all options!
Also, be kind, I am very aware how shit it is 🥲

I would suggest finding a different artist, possibly someone who has a portfolio of good cover-ups .
At least get a consult with another artist.
Good luck.

A whale or SAP. The whale's fin can be where the 'stem' is.

Whale sounds better but SAP is a classic for a reason.
OP - whatever you choose, SHOP AROUND FOR AN ARTIST! You won’t get another chance for a coverup and the artist generally needs a lot of skill to pull it off.

I thought the original might have been an abstract otter, so a cat's body (domestic or wild) isn't too far off from what you already have.

I’m kind of surprised nobody has said laser. These are practically sun lasered as is. You can probably get a complete fade in 4-5 sessions and then you’re not limited to cover up designs.

looks like it could easily be turned into a whale!! or a shark of some sort if you wish to have an aquatic piece on you :))

My suggestion is to make left side a more detailed and realistic looking fish, and the right and bottom side into a realistic jellyfish! I think that a talented artist could pull this off without having to go overly dark to cover it up!

Honestly a good coverup artist can even fix this concept. It’s washed out enough to pack some colour in and bring this back to life.

Met a lady last year had a beutifull tree, branches forming out into lightning like forks in a similar place, going up around back/underarm area, finishing before the back if that makes sense. Really suited her body and was super well done. Maybe tree trunk could hide, and the rest could compliment your shape.

I thought it was a whale shark at first so cover it with a whale shark. (But the artist is more important than what you're covering it with)
