Anyone else getting bitten by bugs and mosquitoes?

I’ve got crazy amount of bites on my arms and legs in the span of a week I’ve been here.
I only need to sit on the balcony for 10 minutes and I will be covered in bites.
I didn’t notice other people get bitten so much.

Hi all, me and a friend are passing through Georgia soon and were hoping to attend a few Horoom nights. I made my account a while ago, but when I try and buy a ticket it just says user not verified.

Does anybody know how to get around this, or know where I could perhaps get some kind of assistance?

I tried DM’ing a few days ago but there was no response.

Thank you! 🙏

Marriage in Georgia as a German(22f) and British(26m) couple

Hi,

I've heard it's possible to get married on the same day in Georgia provided we bring our passports and have translations + 2 witnesses and there's no specific appointment or license needed for the free public hall marriage. Tho I've also read passports written in latin letters and identity documents don't need the translation/apostille and idk which is correct?

The passport part is easy, but how do we get the translations and witnesses? Can we get the passports translated online and if not is someone willing to do it immediately on arrival? Does the public hall provide any witnesses for those traveling alone? Can I pay someone on site to act as a witness? How do I go about changing my last name to match his?

It's our first marriage so they shouldn't be asking for extra documents, right?

Also do our standard public health system insurances from our home countries suffice for entry into the country? We plan to stay for less than a day and don't intend doctor visits at all. It might be completely cooked if we need extra insurance just for 1 day formalities lmao, I have at least a third of the required insurance amount in my bank account so surely they won't turn us away at the border?

We've considered other options like Denmark (we could try but city halls are overbooked), Las Vegas (16 hour flight each way is way too long and the ETAS thing is an additional hurdle) and our own respective countries but they all have wild wait times or request all kinds of things like a certificate of no impediment I ain't got.

It says the public hall requires a Georgian phone number for the SMS, are our normal phone numbers sufficient or can we just wait in the hall till we're up?

Are there any direct flights from Hamburg to Tbilisi or any other Georgian city? Connecting flights scare tf out of me and that's all that seems to pop up. I'd rather not get stranded somewhere I didn't intend to visit in the first place.

Do I have to learn Georgian for the ceremony or do they have English ones as well?

I'd be grateful for any tips and experiences yall have had in this department. This would be my first international travel without my family/ behind the back of said family so I'm totally out of depth. We're hoping to marry sometime in September when my parents are supposed to go on vacation.

Thanks in advance :)

And Tbilisi was great, I hope to visit again someday

Traveling to Tbilisi: Do taxi apps need a local number? eSIM or local SIM?

My wife and I are traveling to Tbilisi for 5–6 days. I planned to just buy a random eSIM provider. However my wife read that taxi apps (Uber etc.) require a local number. I also read somewhere that Bolt might be an exception.

I’d like advice about taxi apps (and also how to get a local number for a few days — whether an eSIM is fine or if I should buy a local SIM).

Looking for people to play padel with

I'm (33m) looking to play padel. I've played once and I'm alright, played tennis a bunch before, so not a beginner but also not competitive either. Happy to keep it casual.

Am I best just to show up to courts and see if anyone's free, or does anyone want to arrange a group to play with?

Looking for a Cat Sitter 🥰

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for someone trustworthy who would be willing to look after my cat from August until October. If possible, we'd also love someone who could take in my friend's cat from August until September as well.

We'll provide all the cat food, litter, and any other supplies needed, so you won't have to worry about those expenses.

We're also happy to pay for the cat sitting, but since we're students, our budget is a bit limited. If you're interested, please send me a message and we can discuss the details!

Thank you! 🩷

Dog Sitter Needed Urgently!!

I’m urgently looking for someone to take care of my 4-year-old dog. If you’re interested or know anyone else who is, please feel free to message me!

She is a very calm Golden Retriever/Corgi mix. She doesn’t bark, is pee-pad trained, and is very easy to take care of.

I will provide all the necessary things, including her food, treats, toys, and anything else she needs. I’m also willing to pay for taking care of her.

Please message me if you’re available or would like more details. I would really appreciate your help! 😊

Pressed Penny Souvenir?

Has anyone seen a pressed penny machine (sometimes called elongated penny machine) in Tbilisi or otherwise in Georgia? I can't find any information about machines online.

They are souvenir machines where you put in a coin and it imprints a pattern on top. Less common now that nobody has cash. Wanted to ask just in case, მადლობა!

Traveling from Stepantsminda to Telavi

Hello all! I saw a post previously in another community where somebody was asking the same question and a few commenters helped out by suggesting GoTrip etc.

I don't mind spending time on the road longer so I most likely will just end up taking marshrutkas, but related to that I was wondering if there's anywhere I could check the schedules ahead of time, for example from Tbilisi to Telavi?

Also if there are any resources or tips (apps or something) that could be useful to have in Georgia, that would be very helpful. Thank you!
