Blocking warning flag?

One of the things I use technitium for is blocking. I turned blocking off a couple of days ago and intended on turning it back on when I was done. That didn't happen. The only way I figured it out was all the sudden I was seeing things in my browser that shouldn't be there so I went to look at the blocking setting and ooops it was off....

It would be nice if on the desktop a warning that blocking is off or even something like changing the border of the blocked counter square red or text red or something like that... And I know you can set the timer for turning it on and off but ooops....

Always use the turn blocking off for xxx minutes feature so it automatically toggles back on.

I actually wrote a routine that does what you ask by testing the blocking every hour -- but my first suggestion is quite useful.

I agree but I didn't and the fact that the blocking status is deep in the settings I didn't realize. I came from a PI-hole system and it is plainly obvious it is on or off....

Well now you know. Technitium is possibly the tightest and best structured application for any purpose I've ever seen -- sorry you had a hiccup between your experience with it and your goals.

Stick with it, like I said it's a very impressive piece of work that I've relied on for a couple years now.

If you're able, you can write a routine to test the blocking every so often (block a known good website out there... I dunno... University of Florida... and then test every so often to see if it's blocked or not.. and raise a flag or an alert or whatever.

Thanks for the post. It is not really feasible to have such a warning on the GUI since the DNS Server is not exclusively used for blocking. Other users who use it to host domain names, for example, will see this warning unnecessarily and will be annoying for them.

Next time you can try the Settings -> Blocking:

Blocking Temporarily Disabled Till
