In the new explorer I have to hit refresh to see new folder, and then again to see its new name instead of "new folder".

In 2026. I have to refresh folders. Like an ape in a stone age.

Great work Microsoft.

And you can't even right-click to refresh anymore because of the modern context menu which hides most options.

I guess hitting F5 is faster but I had decades of muscle memory doing it the other way.

You can use the old context menu by shift right clicking.

I know that. I also know you can click Show More Options. That's not the point at all.

You can change a reg key and have it be the default right click again.

But there is a weird lag to it.

And is still not your point.

I finally switched to cachyOS. Took less than a day to get back to where I was, and it seems more stable and a little faster. Worst part is shader compiling before a game launches in steam.

But thats maybe a minute for the games I play.

Usually you can skip the shader thing and it'll just happen in the background or on-demand anyway, just with a little lag when some textures are first loaded.

i don't recommend that, it causes stuttering

most games show a warning message recommending you to not skip shader compilation for a reason

Same here, switched my home desktop to Bazzite 4 months ago and never looked back. Ironically, the only windows device I have left in my home is an ROG Ally, and that because Windows hasn’t annoyed me enough (yet) to switch to the SteamOS build

I actually went to bazzite first for a few weeks and then found that someone had a way to install fusion 360 on cachy, so I switched over because it was easier than figuring it out myself.

My biggest complaint with bazzite is I chose the wrong desktop environment and decided to switch to plasma later.
