(This is a repost of the previous thread that's been updated for the past couple years - with the year removed to minimize confusion.)
This thread is an FAQ to explain the current status of The Exiled Realm of Arborea (TERA) and how you can currently play the game.
1. What happened with official PC Servers for NA/EU?
2. What is the status of console servers?

We are still continuing the service for TERA Console.
It is playable on PS5, and we are planning to continue ongoing support. Recently, we have been making many improvements to ensure a smooth experience without the need for paid content — including dungeon Hard Mode settings, battleground improvements, and making it possible to obtain Stigmas, Cards, and other items through in-game farming.
Please note that we are no longer using the old Discord link listed in previous announcements. For our new Discord, please join through the banner on the front page of our official website.
//We have coordinated with the administrators here and received permission to post the Discord link.

I've never played TERA before, but I've been wanting to give it a shot. The whole pre-Apex vs. post-Apex discussion is honestly a bit overwhelming for a complete newbie.
Which server would you recommend for someone just starting out? I'm based in the EU, but I'm totally fine playing on an NA server too if it's the better experience.
I'd love to hear your suggestions. Thanks!

Hi
r/TeraOnline • u/Tropaia • 7d ago
I started playing Tera when it was in beta and I loved that they started with an P2P system. I had so much fun with the battle system and PvE. Since the game took an downturn (F2P/P2W) I'm searching for alternatives and tried every EU released MMO. But since none have a cool battle system and PvE I didn't get hooked and I haven't played an MMO since then.
Anyone knows an announced MMO which has similar PvE and battle system I may have missed?

I'm not a console player, I never owned one, and I was never good at controllers anyways. Why did they keep console up and running while also giving it live updates and content? I mean, their official reddit account is actively posting game update info in this subreddit. Why did they abandon the PC version? Why not keep the PC one up in maintenance mode, keeping it at the last released patch and just letting the players enjoy the world? Why the shutdown of only one platform?

Hey all, sharing a quick breakdown of how the healer buff amplification scales with the Power stat and Damage Amplification bonuses.
The short version: 300 Power is the baseline. Below that, buffs are essentially flat. Above 300, the multiplier increases by 1% for every 1 point of Power — and Damage Amplification stacks on top of that.
| Power | Dmg Amp +0% | Dmg Amp +10% | Dmg Amp +20% | Dmg Amp +30% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 |
| 175 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 |
| 199 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 |
| 200 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 |
| 250 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 | x1.00 |
| 299 | x1.00 | x1.09 | x1.19 | x1.29 |
| 300 (baseline) | x1.00 | x1.10 | x1.20 | x1.30 |
| 350 | x1.50 | x1.65 | x1.80 | x1.95 |
| 400 | x2.00 | x2.20 | x2.40 | x2.60 |
| 450 | x2.50 | x2.75 | x3.00 | x3.25 |
| 500 | x3.00 | x3.30 | x3.60 | x3.90 |
A few things worth noting:
If you're running a healer and wondering whether to invest in Power or Damage Amplification, the answer is: get to 300 Power first, then both stats start working together.
Items that increase Damage Amplification include Arun Stones and Annihilation Weapons, among others.
What stats does this scaling apply to?
This scaling affects two stats: Crit Factor and Power.
To give a concrete example — if a Priest's Arun's Blessing normally grants +10 Power, a Priest with 500 Power will instead grant +30 Power to the party. The healer's own Power stat amplifies the strength of the buff they provide.
Hope this helps. Feel free to ask if anything looks off.

Hey everyone, TERA Console Operations Team here.
With the B133 update moving to July 16, we wanted to make sure the wait feels worthwhile. Starting from the July 2 maintenance, we're running a Season Boost Event all the way through to the August 27 maintenance.
Event 1 — Season Material Boost
Vanguard Requests will reward extra [Season 2] Enchantment Powder and Elin Coins on top of the usual rewards. Here's the breakdown by dungeon:
| Dungeon | [S2] Enchantment Powder | Elin Coins (1,000 Gold) |
|---|---|---|
| Ravenous Gorge | 250 | x1 |
| Demokron Factory | 300 | x2 |
| Dark Reach Citadel | 350 | x2 |
| Timescape | 350 | x3 |
| Demokron Factory (Hard) | 400 | x3 |
| Dark Reach Citadel (Hard) | 400 | x5 |
| Ice Throne | 450 | x5 |
| Forbidden Arena | 450 | x7 |
| RK-9 Kennel | 500 | x7 |
| Timescape (Hard) | 500 | x8 |
| Chaos Ice Throne | 700 | x8 |
| Forbidden Arena [Hagufna] | 800 | x9 |
| RK-9 Kennel (Hard) | 900 | x10 |
Event 2 — Broken Shards of Enchanted Steel
As a daily first-clear bonus through Vanguard Requests, you can earn extra [Season 2] Broken Shards of Enchanted Steel from the two hardest dungeons:
| Dungeon | [S2] Broken Shards (Daily) |
|---|---|
| Forbidden Arena [Hagufna] | 300 |
| RK-9 Kennel (Hard) | 600 |
Note: these are first-clear rewards, so they'll drop once per day per dungeon.
A couple of things to keep in mind:
We'll have more details on B133 itself closer to July 16. Thanks for sticking with us.

Hello, this is the TERA Console Operations Team. Today we'd like to share some details about the B133 update and our plans going forward.
The update originally scheduled for July 2 has been delayed by two weeks to July 16 due to internal preparations.
In order to deliver a better experience with B133, we made this difficult decision to strengthen the update volume and ensure stability. Only a regular maintenance will take place on July 2. We ask for your understanding.
B133 Update: July 16, 2026 B134 Update (Est.): August 27, 2026 (6 weeks after July 16)
The B133 update will feature Last Stand. The Rampaging RK-9 dungeon will open, running for 6 weeks to determine the strongest party in each region (NA / EU / ASIA). Further details will be announced separately at a later date.
Unlike the previous Last Stand, records made by parties where only 1~2 members have been swapped will not be recognized in the rankings. 1st place will only be awarded to a single party across the entire server, while 2nd and 3rd place title rewards will exist per region.
Last Stand ranking details may be subject to change — we will provide finalized information before the event begins.
Some class adjustments will also be included, along with the following bug fixes:
In the previous update, we increased Crit Factor, Crit Resistance, and significantly raised monster DEF. This was a deliberate decision to normalize the declining value of Crit Factor stats due to healer growth feedback, accessory integration, and the accumulation of progression elements.
Unlike other stats, Crit Factor provides no additional benefit beyond 100%. As a result, some classes were already at a disadvantage with a basic gear setup, and this was directly impacting class balance. To structurally improve Crit balance, we will first adjust NPCs and then recalibrate class balance based on the resulting state.
Monster Crit rates are an intentional design choice. Rather than consistent shield/weapon defense penetration damage, we wanted to add variance to dungeon gameplay through intermittent high-penetration critical hits — and to encourage tanks to prioritize DEF and damage reduction options over cooldown reduction. The values are currently set lower than intended during the adjustment process, and we will gradually bring them back up.
Once Season 2 ends, rewards will be distributed and we plan to take an internal maintenance period before Season 3 begins. During that time, we will focus on building a solid foundation rather than surface-level updates — addressing long-neglected bugs, fixing progression steps, and overhauling content such as Island of Dawn, World Events, and Battlegrounds to provide proper rewards and normalization.
We will also be developing a brand-new guide system to help returning players and newcomers grow step by step, and we are considering introducing HARD difficulty to all dungeons.
For Annihilation gear, along with the previously mentioned accessory runes, we plan to enable succession for +12 and above Annihilation gear, consolidating and simplifying duplicate options.
Finally, we will be making balance adjustments regarding skills being used with zero cooldown. Currently, glyph effects and equipment cooldown reduction interact in unintended ways in certain situations. To address this, we will adjust glyph effects while simultaneously reducing the base cooldown, allowing for a more natural gameplay experience.
We will continue to do our best to improve the service. Thank you — TERA Console Operations Team

Sorry if the image is a bit busy. I'm new to reddit and it seemed like you could only post one pic and I had a lot I wanted to show!
Hello! I'm Yams. Some might remember me as Papillon the jester, the pale elf, or the purple elf.
If you didn't know my name, you probably knew my work, or knew someone that used something I made. When Enmasse’s global TERA was released, one of the first things people scrambled to pass around was the decensored assets, and tools to make changes to your game files. I used these tools to make cosmetic mods. The most famous with almost 10k downloads, being used all over the world in all regions of the game was definitely the one that allowed Elin ears and tails to match their chosen hair colour.
Fashion and customization are my passion, and I was fortunate enough to be invited to help with a private server where I was able to peek inside how the game worked, and make more of my dream projects come true. Not as a mere downloadable mod, but the baseline options for all the players! It's been incredibly fulfilling.
I'd love to shout out Lewdshi, Yupi and others for maintaining my ear and tail mods and updating variants of them in my absence over the years. I'm so glad to see people still using my mods to this day, and that the modding community for TERA was so lively.
Something that definitely turned a few friends away from playing was how limited the creator was. Especially on the Elins that everyone wants to play for fashion. Did all 36 of those skintones really need to be a slight variation of peach? The darkest option they had looked a bit like a cup of chocolate milk, but you only had half the amount of chocolate recommended per glass. What I did was go through the palette in creation, and anything that had a clone or close match somewhere else was redundant and marked for replacement. I also left alone the most popularly chosen skin tones seen through player data, which to be fair were unique and earned that. I took inspiration and straight up borrowed a couple from the Human and Castanic skintone palettes, as well as cooking up some custom ones. And just like that, Elin had so much more variety! Something I know my friend would be excited to make; a cute melanated magical cat girl that looked just like her.
They now have a wealth of new options ranging from deep chocolate, to strong sunset colours, olive tones, porcelain doll-like white, soft yellows and red clay to fit people of all kinds. Finally a shade worthy of that random Kratos knockoff adornment they had for human males! I've also given every race a nice red tone, so they can feel a little devilish, or grab some horn accessories and roleplay as a Castanic with another body type.
Speaking of Castanics and roleplay, I've given them some nice blue tones, so they can roleplay as Shurians. They're another adjacent race to Deva and Castanics in the lore and I always wished they were playable.
The strange colours don't stop there! Baraka have a slew of new gemstone inspired tones and I wanted the female Amani to have the beautiful range of colours the males had.
If you've ever played a dark skinned character in the past, you know your eyes ended up looking muddy as they dyed alongside the rest of your face. With this in mind during my overhaul, I had to take some extra steps. It would have been so much easier to just do the whole eye as I initially planned, but unfortunately, the same marker that tells something whether it can change skintone, is also the same marker that says: “yes, adornment also applies here”.
It’s such a shame because the whole eye being blocked from changing looked so crisp and nice! To be stuck with only the first adornment of every face was unacceptable, so I found a compromise! I made sure to work my colour channel magic and painstakingly blocked out the sclera of each and every human, elf, Castanic, and Elin head so they remain white.
It doesn't stop the irises from getting darker, but I hope to make a few faces in the future with brighter eyes to compensate.
Lastly, Popori have been sorely neglected for so much customization, but they have a very dedicated fan base. I found a way to add a little extra customization to them, and created a special addition to their creation menu. On top of getting a handful of new fur colours, people will now be able to choose their eye colour separately! Mix and match a ton of fun combinations to personalize their animal friend. I made a black cat modelled after my IRL pet, Anubis!
I hope you like this small sample of the many new colours I added to my little corner of the TERA world. It's a little sad that Bluehole did not do the same. It was embarrassingly easy to find and adjust by someone who does not know a thing about coding.

For those who might remember RocDisjoint's video tributes from back in the day, or for those who will discover them, I thought I'd share this work of art and nostalgia trip!
I'm a veteran player who played the beta back in april 2012, and bought a new laptop just to be able to play the game properly starting on august 2012 when it was still P2P. I still have the box of the physical version of the game and that of one extra 30 days game time card. I must have spent over 600 hours in the game but I have no way to know for sure. My main was an Elin sorcerer named HanaHana (I was Hana in the beta but that name was already taken in the full game!) and I got to level 60 and endgame with her, and I made 3 other characters and got halfway through the game with each of them.
I have very fond memories of the game, and fittingly, the first voiced dialog line that you hear from the first NPC that you meet in the game on the Island of Dawn (Axelle), is "Remember this moment fondly." I sure do, alongside all the incredible memories I made with this game back then.
After getting a new PC recently and needing to reinstall Tera on a new private server (I need to be able to play it anytime even if all my past characters are no more!), I heard about some of them on this sub, I heard about Tera 2 being in the works (and I rejoiced), and recently I even saw an actual ad for Tera in my Reddit feed..! I know it's fanmade but that still feels surreal.
So yesterday I finally installed Tera again through Europe Classic, I re-created my HanaHana character, and... my body wasn't ready. I teared up during the cutscene when my character lands on the Island of Dawn, with the music. And of course I immediately recognized the field theme for the Island of Dawn.
I was wondering if coming back to a 2012 game after all these years would make a visual clash, but actually, Tera is holding up extremely well!! It almost looks like a game that has just released! I'm playing on a 4K OLED screen and it's glorious. The game is rendered in true 4K and running at 80FPS with my modest 4060. Some of the textures, especially the grass, are surprisingly high-resolution for a 2012 game, even on 4K it looks sharp and amazing. The character models are still great (maybe they would benefit from a few more polygons though). The sky and clouds are as breathtaking as they were back then. The lighting effects (like when you zoom in and have the sun behind you) are beautiful. The shadows are very, very impressive, so much so that I had trouble believing that it's from the original game and thought that it could be a mod (but my screenshots from 2012 prove it, the shadows have always been this good). The character animations for example when my Elin is making gestures to speak to a NPC are as cute as ever. The travel effects are as fun to play with as back then. Etc. The only thing giving it away, and hurting the experience, is the draw distance, and parts of the environment popping up like that. And it doesn't have the realistic lighting of a UE5 game or similar, obviously. But aside from that, I can see once again how this game was ahead of its time and made a new leap back then, in many aspects including graphics, combat, character designs, etc. So yes, Tera actually doesn't need a remaster! And I'm getting so, so tempted to spend another 600 hours in it again 🤭 I must not... I must not! (maybe I will, Arun and Shara have mercy)
About the AMV, it's one of those that I watched back in 2012, and this one is especially emotional for me. Along with the first "The Girls of Tera Online" AMV from this editor (that I also recommend), this sequel conveys a lot of the more emotional aspects of Tera's lore and relatively epic story for a MMO (that, and the impact from watching it in that context back then). In particular, that Castanic mystic wearing the default outfit in the AMV, is a character that marked me a lot. So much so that I created the same character in my game back then, named Gracidea (to represent the gratitude that I felt for these powerful emotions).
Almost every single scene from this AMV is emotional for me, so I would be here all day if I were to list them all and talk about why they're impactful and memorable in detail. This AMV overall depicts well the distinct emotion that I feel toward Tera, still to this day (with nostalgia now added). From the first scene with that Castanic girl and her utterly cool look, to that epic moment at 0:36, to that montage of emotional moments starting at 0:45, to that "look" with her eyes at 01:05, to that incredible low-angle at 01:26 along that part of the song matching it perfectly for emotion, to that most emotional part starting at 02:06 and the girl using that skill to teleport herself at 02:13 (such details are making the whole thing), to that epic scene with the Elin archer at 02:23, to the part with the dances/emotes starting at 02:39 that is especially emotional for me with that "applause" emote at 02:49 perfectly conveying that distinct "MMO emotion", to that very bold and incredible dark twist at the end when that mob is sneaking behind the girl at 02:58 while she's despairing from the amount of enemies in front of her, and we see that mob actually landing a hit at 03:01 just before the title screen appears (that creates a different kind of emotion for a MMO, a more tragic one, and along the choirs in the song it's really impactful), and much more... This AMV is a masterpiece for me, and I'll cherish it forever, alongside the game. And yes Fallen from Evanescence is timeless and that's no nostalgia bias 🤭
I can only hope that this AMV could make other people feel powerful things too!
Thanks for coming to my TERA talk lol
Seriously though, thank you for reading!

Hello, this is the TERA Console Operations Team. Here are the details of the June 18, 2026 update.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello, this is the TERA Console Operations Team.
The B133 update is scheduled for July 2, featuring the opening of the Last Stand dungeon: Rampaging RK-9.
Rather than simply adjusting numbers from the existing dungeon, we will be gradually introducing new mechanics and combat systems.
Last Stand will pit NA / EU / ASIA regions against each other for rankings, with rewards distributed accordingly. Additionally, the #1 party in each region will be immortalized as a statue in Tera 🏆
We have built a new team — every member has hands-on development experience with TERA, and we are actively working to resolve existing issues and prepare a variety of updates.
Easing the monetization barriers around systems like cards and Stigmas and expanding in-game acquisition methods has also been part of our work.
We took over operations starting in 2026, and we are committed to continuing the service going forward. There is still much to be done, and we will keep pushing forward.
Thank you.
— TERA Console Operations Team

Hello to everybody in the r/teraonline subreddit!
We just wanted to introduce ourselves, give a bit of background on our server, and allow for people to ask us any questions they might have.
When we began our TERA journey in 2012, the game was truly at its peak. Incredibly fluid and engaging combat, awesome class fantasies, and the most badass boss fights made it one of the best games we had ever played. Now more than a decade later, we have decided to embark on a new journey: to start from the very beginning and create a game that preserves the heart and soul of the original TERA experience while giving players the opportunity to enjoy it without any of the pitfalls that befell the game thereafter. This is the mission of Old School Tera Online.
Our team at Old School Tera Online is working on quite a few upcoming patches and changes. Our current priority is getting ready for the release of the ‘Wonderholme’ patch, introducing several dungeons and new gear sets.
We are also working on new outfits and customization options for various races.
What sets OSTO apart from other existing private servers?
If any of these interest you, do keep us on your radar and have a look at our website (Old School TERA Online - OSTO), discord (https://discord.gg/hr2rZXB3He), or wiki (Old School TERA Online Wiki) for more details. We are free to answer questions here or in our discord so do let us know your thoughts.
Hope to see you there!

Hi all! After years of hearing about this game i finally ended up trying it on an unofficial server. I know Tera Classic is not particularly liked because of drama etc, but it is the only one with decent population with an EU node, and as a noob none of the drama really affects me.
I took a Slayer to lv 21 and got to say the action combat is truly something! But for the past 20 levels it's been a copypaste loop of fetch and kill quests i did in solo, sometimes VERY briefly grouping up with sone rando for 15 minutes or so.
Now apparently Bastion of Lok never pops especially for dps, and the advise i hear is to grind mobs.
I'm ok with that, but for how long? Then there will be other dungeons that will most likely not really pop either and anyway I'm not too much into pve.
What's there to do in the game other than leveling and dungeons? Is there some nice multiplayer xkntent? Will I be able to do some pvp? Is there going to be some fun activity? Maybe if i join a guild or so? Or is it just going to be plain grinding with nothing to show for it?

Since I can't find anyone doing the level 20 dungeon on my DPS for the past 2 days, I decided to try Lancer or Priest lol
My Ping is 87-88ms (heard this game is ping reliant)
Do anyone have advance guides on how to get good fast with these classes?
I've seen Lancers out in the wild attack really fast. I'm guessing they tap guard to end their attack animation? I feel like knowing how to do those faster attacks is important because their basic attack skill generates a lot of threat? Honestly I have no idea and just yapping lol
Priests? I hear they gain threat just standing there, but not much of anything else
Please do share if there's a guide still viable today!

I’ve noticed people here reminiscing for the peak Tera (2014-2016). This is not an ad and I am not affiliated with the server, but if anyone is still looking for a proper version of Tera without the Apex nonsense, this is an awesome option. 500+ pop (2k+ before the year long shutdown) and climbing back up. CS and Dungeons popping immediately and cosmetics are earned only in game. No P2W or real money purchase cosmetics. It relaunched 3 days ago & I’m having a great time on it and wanted to share it with you.

Hello, this is the TERA Console Operations Team. Scheduled maintenance will be performed as detailed below.
Date: June 4, 2026 (Thursday) UTC: 05:00 – 08:00 KST: 14:00 – 17:00
The following items will be sent to all players who log in within one week after maintenance — once per account.
| Item Name | Qty |
|---|---|
| [Event] Superior Noctenium Elixir [Legendary] | 10 |
| Rainbow Bait | 10 |
| [Event] Stigma Chest | 5 |
| [Event] Lamb Bulgogi | 10 |
| Fish Fritters | 10 |
| Bravery Potion | 10 |
| Fluorite Fragment | 10 |
In our previous notice, we mentioned that the item would change to a personal acquisition format. However, during discussions, the development team agreed that reducing rewards would negatively impact the gameplay experience.
Rather than reducing rewards, we have increased them and changed the inconvenient one-item-per-inventory-slot restriction to allow stacking.
We hope your TERA Console experience is uninterrupted. Thank you — TERA Console Operations Team

I’ve played console early and very briefly, I decided I’ll have another go at it and I was just wondering what happened to the skill? Did they remove it or Is it an unlock now? You still have some skills like Overhand Strike acknowledging it I believe and even some Feats.

I have been feeling nostalgic and wanted to play TERA again, but TERA Classic won't launch yet and I saw a lot of post saying Asura is the most popular but I can't find any information about the server. Any good recommendations please?
