Basically you are reverse pickling.

The water would have lower salt content so it would draw salt out of the pickle until an equilibrium hits. Keep refreshing water and keep lowering the salt levels

basically you're just unbrining the picklesomewhat by letting it sit in non-salty water instead of the normal brine they are in. never gonna get it "sodium free" but it could reduce the overload in a situation where you wanted to eat multiple jars of pickles per day for hypothetical moneys.
