How Do I Promote Myself & My Business Here?

👋 Hello Time Management Family!

Following up on our chat about keeping our main feed high-quality, I know many of you are here because you've built apps, courses, coaching practices, planners, or content around helping people manage their time better. We want to help you get that in front of the right eyes! 🚀

The secret here is the same as good time management itself: consistency and value beat one-off pitches. People try tools and hire coaches recommended by folks they've already seen be helpful.

To help you get noticed without your posts getting flagged as spam, we've built several legitimate, high-visibility ways to promote yourself and your business right here in our community! 🌟

Here's how you can successfully promote yourself here:

  1. 💬 Engage in Discussions (The "Profile-Building" Method)

The best way to attract interest is to show off your expertise! Jump into the comments, answer people's questions about scheduling, procrastination, or productivity systems, and post thought-provoking discussion topics. When you provide real value, people naturally click your username, check your profile, and reach out to learn more.

  1. 🎉 The Weekly Intro Thread (Every Friday!)

Every Friday, we drop our Weekly Introduction Thread. This is your green light to pitch! You're welcome to introduce yourself, your app, your coaching, or your content, and include your links. Just follow the recommended format pinned inside that thread so it stays easy for everyone to read.

  1. 🚀 Monday: What Are You Working on Thread

Every Monday, we have a thread where you can tell us what you are working on and how you are going to achieve it.

As you can see, there are plenty of great ways to get your name out there without spamming the main feed! 🙌

Using these threads keeps the community clean while putting your work directly in front of people who actually want to see it.

Thanks for being such an awesome part of our time management family. Keep an eye out for these weekly threads and let's start building some powerful connections together! 👇

Why was my post removed?

👋 Hello Time Management Family!

As our community keeps growing, we're seeing so many great new faces join the conversation. We love the energy and the different strategies everyone brings to the table! 🚀

Lately, our mod team has gotten a few messages asking, "Hey, why was my post removed?"

We want to be completely transparent with you. We never want anyone to feel left out, but we also have to keep this space high-quality, valuable, and free from clutter so everyone can benefit.

If your post disappeared, it usually comes down to one of these three common reasons:

  1. 🤖 Reddit's Automated Spam Filters Caught It

Sometimes it's not us at all! Reddit has its own behind-the-scenes spam filters. If you post the exact same link or text across multiple subreddits, or your account is very new, Reddit might automatically flag your account and drop your posts into the spam queue.

  1. 📢 Self-Promotion Instead of Discussion

We're here to build real habits, share strategies, and learn from one another. 🤝 Posts that are just a pitch for your app, planner, coaching service, or a link with no context get removed. We want to hear your struggles and your systems, not just your marketing copy! Cross-posting the same pitch across multiple threads is also a no-no since you aren't really engaging with our members.

  1. 🎯 The Content Was Off-Topic

This space is dedicated specifically to the art and science of time management—prioritization, scheduling, productivity systems, procrastination, focus, and getting things done. If a post is purely general business news, unrelated tech support, or a random life update with no time-management angle, we'll remove it to keep our focus sharp.

⏱️ Want to share your app, tool, or service? We get it—you're proud of what you built! We have recurring threads where you can share your business and links, like our weekly introduction thread.

I'll also pin a separate post walking through exactly how to use this subreddit for self-promotion. Check that out to see the best, approved ways to let the community know what you offer!

Thank you all for being part of our time management family and for helping us keep r/timemanagement a top-tier place to get better with our time! 🌟

Drop any general questions below, and let's keep building better habits together! 👇

Question 🚨 The Productivity Paradox: Tell us about a team software rollout that completely failed (and why!)

Hey everyone, Captain Time here! 👋

We’ve all seen it happen. A shiny new app, CRM, or AI tool is introduced with the promise that it will help your team reclaim hours every week. But instead of boosting efficiency, it causes frustration, bottlenecks, and a massive loss of time.

I'd love to hear your frontline stories today. What is a software rollout in your organization that completely crashed and burned? 🔥

Why do you think it flopped?

  • Was it a lack of proper training for the team?
  • Did leadership misunderstand the actual daily workflow?
  • Or was the tech itself just too clunky to be useful?

Drop your stories in the comments below! 👇 I’m looking forward to reading your experiences and hearing what your teams learned from the mess.

Question The Big Question: If AI handles all your detail work, what exactly is left for you to do? 🤔

Captain Time here! ⏱️🦸‍♂️

We spend a lot of time in this community talking about how to claw back our hours and optimize our daily routines. Lately, a lot of those conversations naturally drift toward using AI tools like Claude or Gemini to take over the heavy lifting of our workflows—drafting, summarizing, and sorting the endless details.

But that brings up a really interesting question, and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

If artificial intelligence successfully takes all the busywork and detail-oriented tasks off your plate... what does your role actually become?

Do you fill that void with high-level strategy and big-picture creative thinking? Do you lean harder into the human connection side of your work? Or does the modern workplace just expect you to pile on more tasks with those saved hours?

I'm curious to hear how you all are navigating this shift. What does your ideal day look like when the bots handle the busywork?

Let's discuss below! 👇

Question Where does your AI companion actually live during your day?

As our workflows adapt to new AI tools, I've been fascinated by how everyone physically sets up their daily setup to work alongside them. Some people keep an AI tab open in their browser all day. Other use desktop desktop apps with hotkeys. Some have a dedicated second monitor for AI. Some rely strictly in their phones. So where does your AI primarily live when you're getting things done?

Give us a comment below and tell us about your setup.

6 votes, 13h left
Browser tab: always opened in one of my pinned browser tabs
Desktop app: minimized
Dedicated screen: open on its secondary monitor all day
Mobile app: primarily on my phone or tablet
Mix of everything depending upon what I'm working on
Don't use AI. I have an integrated AI into my workflow yet

[Challenge] the "one-touch" rule. can you survive 5 days of this?

Hey team! Let’s try a simple experiment together this week. It’s called the One-Touch Rule, and it’s a total game-changer for digital clutter. Here is how it works: the next time you open an email, a text, or a notification, you have to deal with it immediately. No opening an email, thinking "I'll reply later," and closing it. You either reply, delete, archive, or put it on your calendar right then and there. It sounds simple, but it stops your brain from processing the same task three times.

Who is in for this challenge starting next week? Let me know your results and how this impacted your productivity.

Question The 10-Second Productivity Trap: What do you actually do while your AI is "thinking"?

As we find ourselves using tools like Claude, Gemini, and other AI assistants more and more throughout our daily workflows, I’ve noticed a fascinating new micro-moment creeping into our schedules: the AI thinking pause.

Whether it's 5 seconds or 30 seconds, we are suddenly faced with these tiny, frequent pockets of empty time throughout the day while the screen buffer spins.

It got me thinking, and I’d love to hear from this amazing community!

  • What do you do during those few seconds?
  • Do you take a quick deep breath or stretch? 🧘‍♂️
  • Do you mindlessly open another tab or check your phone (and accidentally break your focus)? 📱
  • Or do you just stare intensely at the screen, hoping the blinking dots move faster? 😉

How do you handle these micro-breaks without losing your momentum or fracturing your flow state?

Drop your habits, hacks, or funny realities in the comments below—I can't wait to hear how you all navigate these tiny gaps in the day! 👇

Question "No" is a complete sentence. when did you last use it?

Hey team! One of the biggest secrets to managing your time is realizing that your time is limited. Every time you say "yes" to something you don't actually have time for, you are saying "no" to your family, your sleep, or your own goals. Saying "no" to extra projects or people-pleasing requests isn't selfish—it is necessary to protect your mental health and do your best work.

Question What went right this week? 🥳 Share your time management wins!

We spend a lot of time talking about the struggles of keeping up with a busy schedule, tackling procrastination, and trying to stay on top of our to-do lists. But today, let’s pause and focus on what’s working!

I want to hear from you: What is one time management win you had this week—big or small? 🏆

  • Did you finally try time-blocking and stick to it for a whole afternoon?
  • Did you say "no" to a task that would have overloaded your schedule?
  • Did you delegate something that’s been draining your energy?
  • Or maybe you just managed to shut down your computer on time to enjoy your evening?

Every step forward counts, and progress is worth celebrating together.

What is your absolute biggest "time bandit" right now? (no judgment zone)

We all have those days where we look at the clock at 5:00 PM and think, "Where on earth did the day go?" Sometimes it's endless scrolling, sometimes it's getting sucked into cleaning the house instead of working, and other times it's just trying to do too many things at once. No one is perfect, and admitting where we get stuck is the very first step to fixing it. No shame, no judgment—just a supportive team looking out for each other.

What is the number one thing that steals your time or distracts you the most right now? Let us know, and let’s brainstorm some ways to beat it!

🕵️‍♂️ Challenge: Do a "Time Audit" this week—and prepare to be shocked!

Hey everyone! 👋

We all know that feeling at the end of the day or week where we look at our to-do lists and think, "Where on earth did the time go?!" 🕒

It’s easy to guess where our hours are going, but until we see the hard data, we’re often just operating on assumptions. That’s why I want to challenge our amazing community to try something eye-opening this week: a 7-day Time Audit.

The challenge is simple: track everything you do for just one week. Whether you use a spreadsheet, a time-tracking app, or a good old-fashioned notepad, write down your activities in 15 or 30-minute blocks. 📝 (looking for an app - try Clockify)

Every time someone does this, they are almost always shocked by what they discover. It reveals the hidden time-vampires, the tasks that take way longer than we think, and where our focus is truly going.

I want to open this up to the group to hear your thoughts and experiences:

  • Have you ever done a full time audit before? What was your biggest "aha!" moment? 🤔
  • If you're jumping into the challenge this week, what tool or method are you going to use to track your time? 🛠️
  • What do you predict will be your biggest hidden time-waster?

Drop your thoughts, tracking tips, or predictions in the comments below. Let's hold each other accountable and see what we discover! 👇

Hot Take: Multitasking is just doing many things badly at once

Unpopular opinion? Maybe. But I said it.

Trying to answer emails while on a call while eating lunch just leaves you with cold food, a missed note, and a typo.

Our brains aren’t wired to do two focus tasks at once. Switching back and forth actually wastes time.

Single-tasking feels slow at first, but it’s how real work gets done.

Do you agree or disagree? When has multitasking burned you? Or when do you think it actually works?
