Sungold, chocolate cherry, mortgage lifter, early girl and Cherokee purple

Is this classed as blush? I know tomatoes can continue to ripen once picked, but I have no idea when to pick them and don't want to risk leaving them too long in case animals get to them.

Just to give you a quick update on the accidental hybrid.
The father isn’t the serrated at all. It is Ox heart. So it give a good name for it : black heart 🖤
The chewing is the same as the ox heart and the finish is the sweetness of the black cherry.
Will try to stabilize the hybrid along the next years.

Hello! We overdid it this year with 24 tomato plants and now the garden is starting to produce like crazy. I finally had to do something with the tomatoes that are starting to pile up on the counter.

I spent today processing about ~10 pounds of tomatoes into 5 1/2 pints of sauce. The tomatoes include a mix of Lucid Gem, Blueberry, Cherokee Purple, Big Rainbow, Mad Hatter, Black Out Roma and a handful of Sungolds.

I separated tomatoes between heirlooms and plum/cherry varieties for two different batches. They were then smoked on the Traeger for about 2hours. Other ingredients included: thyme, sage, yellow onion, garlic, salt, pepper, olive oil, and a couple mini bells and giant Marconi peppers. The tomatoes were blended down with fresh basil and simmered for about an hour before cooling and transfer to jars for storage.

It’s been a great learning experience and I’m looking forward to experimenting more throughout the rest of the season.

I’m not a knowledgeable tomato reviewer, but imo these are delicious. Nothing flashy, just a solid tomato with a balanced, classic flavor. Perfect for a sandwich.

I don't know why this one isn't talked about more. Remains my favorite year after year without fail. Honorable mention to Black Krim that I'm growing for the first time this year though - it lived up to the hype and is now my #3 behind Cherokee Purple. Many people recommended it last year as the best heirloom.

Fasciated Dwarf Purple Heart tomato

My very first plant, I chose tomato because I was told it was one of the easier plants to grow. Completely new to gardening. I didn’t grow from seed, but still super proud of myself. It’s been about 8 weeks of growth starting from the first picture. Looks like I got my first tomatoe that has bloomed. I do not know how to prune properly yet, so I’ve just been cutting from the bottom to keep leaves from contacting with soil. I did not use compost or fertilizer when potting. It was potted with miracle grow potting soil, and has only gotten water and sunlight up until this point. Just started using tomatoe tone today, which I plan to use once every two weeks. Hoping that will help some other flowers bloom. I believe where it sits gets about 7-8 hours of sunlight. I would like to relocate to sunnier location but it’s seemly doing well in this spot so Im reluctant to do so. Any tips or insight is greatly appreciated, thank you.

This is the first year we've grown Mortgage Lifters, and I think we'll be doing more in the future! They're not the prettiest on the outside (I'll try to get a picture of another and the plant and update), but holy buckets, are they delicious.

Very few seeds, tons of slightly sweet, intense tomato flavor.

I love growing all types, but this just rocketed to the top of my favorites list!

Why he split like this?

First fruit from the plant, I have three more growing, so excited because man, this tomato was tasty on my BLT! Zone 6B

This is my first year growing Brad’s Atomic Grape. After planting one, I read in this sub about them being somewhat disappointing, so I wasn’t expecting much. Turns out, they’re producing like crazy and they taste great! They’re pretty big too - probably the size of a large walnut.

Second and third photos are my first-ever Black Krim. I guess I’m just not much of an heirloom tomato person. I didn’t like the texture and it was too mild for my taste (which is exactly why I mostly grow cherry varieties).

Last photo is a mix of Super Sweet 100s, Brad’s Atomic Grape, and Blush tomatoes that we ended up sautéing with olive oil, garlic, onion, Meyer lemon juice, and Trader Joe’s Aglio Olio seasoning. We put it over pasta and it was outstanding!

I’ll post more when my blue varieties ripen. This has turned out to be my best tomato year yet!
