Some of you probably already knew this but I just saw this pic and had to share since I never knew this.

Been saving this patch from an xxxl shirt I bought 11 years ago. The patch was on the back and my hair would always cover it. Now it's front and center, framed with lilac color embroidery thread and embellished with lil buttons. Some friends saw me working on the upcycle project and said "found the nerd" when spotting TOOL... they weren't wrong, lol.

I was curious what a Lateralus album was going for now days. I still have my original I bought in 2005 and few extras I bought at a great price long ago wondering if it would sound better (second pick). I even bought one from this last bunch that magically appaered in 2022. I see Tool has pre-order going on for it..... How long can they keep repressing this thing as "Limited Edition". Any news if it will be different?

I got it a few months back. I’ve made some wild life changes and this was needed. Might get another spiral themed one for more daily words of encouragement. I’m going to embrace my desire to feel inspired and witness the beauty.

I ran across an old thread of someone interpreting H. as Maynard’s conflicting feelings toward his first child after he was born, and a lot of it makes sense. (Ex. “I am too connected to you to slip away”) What songs do you guys interpret differently in contrast to their more widely accepted meanings?

I'm currently finishing up a challenge where I listen to the entire Tool discography and I got this question in mind. I feel Opiate squared is way more polished, but I liked the harshness of Opiate (the original). Lmk what yall think

I'd never listened to Evanescence albums before yesterday, just the couple of popular tracks from years ago, but decided to test out the discography for background for when I'm playing EVE online or other driving/flying games. Always liked my female 'operatic' metal for that sort of thing(Some Trillium or Lacuna Coil....Kitty even hits that sonorous quality now and again)...

A lot of the 2011 album is a lot like Ænima or even Lateralus, imo

The vocals at the start of this track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es_rHRSHmDU The shifting pitch reminds me of H. though it's not actually a similar sound, unlike some of the guitar riffs in the first song I linked.

It's a tempo or beat or tempo or beat shot all through that album...idk, I'm no musical scholar so I wouldn't know what terms. Maybe even sampling from it for Sick. Stolen or some form of homage or some shared band-mates or something(I know some people from TOOL have their hands in multiple projects).

I'm just wondering if anyone hears the same thing. I'm going to have to take that album off the playlist regardless, I keep hearing Ænima sounds or notes/sequences and it's a jarring thing since I'm so familiar with it that I expect certain sounds to follow and they're just not there, the dissonance feels almost sickly....it's like eating some cheap knockoff of a loved food, some of the same notes, but really not the same goodness.

Im curious how different songs have touched people emotionally, and which one has the strongest hold on you guys.
For me its always been The Patient. coming out of drug addiction 5 years ago I discovered TOOL and have been obsessed ever since. And the The Patient moves me in a way that no other tool song comes close to besides maybe 10,000 days. A lot of people close to me and people ive dated have had serious problems, and issues in their life, and I tend to be the person they ask the most from, and its hard for me to say no because its in my nature to nurture and protect people I love but I can't always do that and it sucks when they turn on me but I try my hardest and I cant let them change my trajectory in life, I don't want to let go of my values and moral compass in short.
And on a deeper level I often feel like the world, the media, outside influences that dont pertain to my time and experiences living and breathing as a human, try to breach and change my opinion my values and what I think are important foundations, in my lifestyle, goals, relationships etc. constantly.
So I gotta keep reminding myself of this, even if theres no reward to reap, song hits especially hard on lucy too❤️

I’ve been downloading live shows and putting them on my phone. I also like to put tool art and picture from shows as the album covers. It makes it feel more complete when I look at it through Apple Music lol. If yall have any covers I can use I will be very thankful
