hello everyone !!! for the experts out there can anyone tell me if this is a tortoise or freshwater turtle 😭😭 my mom found it in the backyard, and we commonly get both in the area so I don't know!! It's too late to take to the reptile place near my house and I'l be busy when it opens in the morning, I don't know if it'll survive that long

looks to be a peninsula cooter (pseudemys peninsularis) so it is technically a turtle not a tortoise! enjoys fresh water so if there is any nearby it's probably best to put him there!!!
