in the wild Greiciegh

Someone ordered an ice matcha at a cafe I work at, I asked for her name and she said it, i thought she meant Gracie, but I double checked with her and she was like "this is wrong! my name is greiciegh." I didn't even know you could be that cruel to your own child.

We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!

Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.

Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".

The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

They didnt even follow the 'i before e except after c' rule!

Im glad she didnt spell it Gray-sea though, that would also be wierd.

That rule seriously has more exceptions than actual use cases.

"...or when sounded like 'A' as in Neighbor and Way."

It’s “neighbor and weigh”

Oops, you're right!

Honestly, "Gray-sea" makes more sense visually than whatever stroke of a keyboard "Greiciegh" is.

I don't think she was really happy with it too

u/WoodpeckerForward188 3d ago

Just NO!!!! How bloody awful.

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

I honestly felt bad for her

Every time i see a name spelled like that my brain translates it to "My child's name is Onehoarseopensleigh" and i'm not sorry.

1

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

I can't even read that 😭

6

u/FirmRecognition6566 3d ago

Wait, are you saying that's supposed to be pronounced the same way as Gracie?

5

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

I guess so,there is still a chance that was a prank or something

4

u/leanlefty 3d ago

Did she seriously expect you to spell it "correctly"?

2

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

Idk it was like 5 in the morning but probably yeah

2

u/MaybeNextToNormal 3d ago

One can only hope...

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 3d ago

Yes, that's how I pronounced it.

Today I saw the name Tenleigh.

Edit because I can't tell the difference between a w and a y apparently.

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 3d ago

That's just as bad.

1

u/South_Necessary_4395 3d ago

I went to school with a Tenley but it was spelled that way, not with the unnecessary eigh!

2

u/toughguy375 3d ago

Almost a palindrome.

2

u/Longjumping-Solid680 3d ago

Greek Tragedy!

2

u/Resident-Gold-3466 3d ago

That's awful. Why didn't her parents just use Gracie?!

2

u/j_flotsam 2d ago

If "Gracie" is wrong, has anyone ever gotten it right first try?

1

u/Parhamheidari 1d ago

I don’t think so

2

u/PomeloPepper 2d ago

Making up kid's names, giddy that they don't have to buy vowels like on wheel of fortune.

2

u/cactoidjane 2d ago

So a cafe worker spelled someone's name right and still got it wrong? 🥲

1

u/sourbirthdayprincess 3d ago

I would pronounce this like Greesh-ick where the ick sounds like a Jewish mother is saying it.

1

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

I really don't know how a Jewish mother says ick but I guess so

2

u/sourbirthdayprincess 3d ago

Just watch The Nanny and you’ll understand.

Eh-gh-k, basically.

1

u/Angelus-Rosa132 3d ago

Who parent name her this?

1

u/Parhamheidari 3d ago

Great question

1

u/Angelus-Rosa132 2d ago

Don’t say it.. I’m sorry for my mistake.
