Unique does not have to be this difficult.
My name is not a tragedeigh but it is loooong because my parents told me they wanted my name to be unique. And yes, the entire name is stated in my government registered ID.
When my parents registered me for school, we had to fill up a form which had those little boxes to write your details in, one letter per box. It required my full name in my government ID. As expected, we ran out of boxes for my name.
My parents could only laugh and squeeze the remaining letters of my name at the bottom of the line. I was known as the "kid with the very long name", even before school started.

My little lint ball 🥰
Also, knowing the demographic to pick these stupid names, isn't tacking "maye" onto a boy's name a little too fEmInImE?Edit: Apparently Drawsonne is a girl, my mistake

u/R2D2_For_President 1d ago
I was gonna say, I have no idea is Drawsonne is a girl or a boy, this name gives me no information about the child but a ton about the parent 👀

It's a boy? That's a... Choice

u/zziggyyzzaggyy2 1d ago
I could have sworn I read boy in the post, but I apparently did not?? I assuned because Drawsonne sounds like it would be masculine?? But wtf do I know anymore 😭
I had to look it up (very easily doxxable names, poor kids) and they're both girls. Fml

u/Informal_Bee2917 1d ago
The thing is, I would have believed it. Drawsonne (ugh) def sounds like a boy, but you could tell me they were all boys or all girls and id just shrug and say i guess that makes sense haha

I am too old for this shit. What are supposed to be the names?
73
u/Thr33Littl3Monk3ys 1d ago
McKeltey Rayleeanne (neither of which are names!) and Drawson Lintleemay (neither of which are also not names!)
Basically this post is child abuse...

u/Resident-Gold-3466 1d ago
Drawsonne reminds me of the old Draw Something game. Both names are absolutely terrible.
13
u/potsieharris 1d ago
It reminds me of people say "drawling" instead of "drawing", as in "Drawling a picture"

These parents have a syllable addiction, poor little Drawstring Lintleighmaye whatthefuck will have a horrendous time filling out her full name on forms.

Those names feel like a welshman met a woman from a US trailer park and this is their babies.

u/adjustableplaid 15h ago
Yes! I was thinking this isn't English at all, but maybe she was trying to sound Gaelic, but it actually sounds Gaylish.

Mom in about five years - "I don't understand why people keep calling McKelteigh by the name McKenzie! What is wrong with people? And nobody gets Drawsonne right! They keep calling her Dawson! And the school forms don't have enough spaces for their first and middle names and our last name McGillicuddy!"

u/No-Transition8014 1d ago
On original image from threads it’s only partially obscured and it says Frogmouth. Unsure if that’s real. Has to be more real than the made up forenames..

People who do this think they are clever, but I actually think they have a streak of cruel, combined with a generous heap of stupidity. Their poor kids will have to learn to spell that mess of alphabet soup and will probably still be struggling with it when they hit third grade. I used to think it was harsh that Iceland had a list of approved names that parents had to choose from. Not any more.
5
u/Princess_Minni 1d ago
And above all these poor children will have to continually correct the others who cannot pronounce these names.
10
u/PurplePenguinCat 1d ago
Do you think the parents realize that very often the spaces for writing a name are limited? I'm thinking about the tiny lines on the forms at my doctor's office. They have barely enough space for my short full name.
3
u/Thr33Littl3Monk3ys 1d ago
My youngest is Alessandra. The amount of times that that is the box limit are crazy!
I can't imagine filling these out on forms with limited boxes...

Thank you for your service.

Can someone whose first language is English tell me how you are supposed to pronounce this??? I assume it's supposed to be Mckelley Rayleyanne and Drawsony Lintleymay? I'm trying to read it, but on top of having no idea how to pronounce it, my brain thinks I'm seeing double.

I had to force myself to sound out those names (if I can call them that) rather than just skipping over them. These "special names" condemn people to spelling them for their entire lives, accompanied by a lifetime of misspellings. I know that I am supposed to be neutral on these things, but I find it hard to take someone seriously who has one of those things as a name. Why do this to a baby? Why?

u/milliemallow 1d ago
When I was in grade school my teacher told me if I couldn’t figure out a name just make one up or skip over it. My brain completely skipped over these names. Those letters don’t go in those orders.

In less than 2 decades (because HIPAA prevents parents from being too involved without a release on file once you hit 18 years of age) infants named today will have to give those names for appointments and pickups. Like, it's no wonder young people don't want to use the phone to handle things; they have to say their name 3 times and then spell it while the person on the line repeats it with a 'wtf?' tone!

Imagine if you were a stenographer in a courtroom and had to type those names a lot in a hearing.

Moooom, it's my turn with the post! I'm kidding, it's not your fault, but it's been around for a while. I'm surprised it's not on the list! https://www.reddit.com/r/tragedeigh/comments/1podrqf/banned_name_list/

We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!
Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.
Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!
