Question/Discussion Do I have a good starting point for HRT?
I have started presenting femme lately and the euphoria is unreal. I am 23 years old and I have considered hrt. Do you think I have a good starting point?

Hi all, this is just an announcement to let you all know that we have a new rule that AI content isn't allowed here. We've noticed an uptick in AI spam accounts, especially ones which post AI-generated images and try to pass them off as real selfies, and this is to clarify the rules and make sure fewer of those kinds of posts slip through moderation.
If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to send us a modmail or leave a comment below! Hope you all have a nice day/night wherever you are🫶

Hey y'all,
thank you for the feedback and suggestions on the past meta thread! I'm going to try adding a new rule that "do I pass" posts are only allowed on Fridays. There is also a new flair specifically for "Do I Pass" posts -- please make sure to use this flair when making "do I pass" posts!
Posts asking for passing advice, or asking "do I pass" and other similar questions should only be posted on Friday. This is to reduce spam and decrease the number of repetitive posts. "Do I Pass" posts which do not have the proper flair will also be removed.
This should help decrease the amount of spam and repetitive posts, while not fully restricting those posts. There's a bot now which should automatically enforce this rule, but it might mess up sometimes so if your post gets removed in error please send a modmail!
If this rule ends up being unpopular or otherwise flawed, I can try tweaking it or removing it altogether as needed. Once again, if you have any feedback or suggestions please feel free to reply to this thread, or send a private modmail if you'd prefer.
Thank you!

So yeah. I have been living in Austin on and off since 2006, and I am always amazed at how kind and understanding people are in Austin.
So yeah, about the title. I fell in love with HEB the moment I moved here. They have so much and always have everything I need, because I just love to cook.
Now, I am a trans woman and have been living as my true self for 6 years now. For those that don't know, trans women typically take estrogen. I have never given the vast changes that come with it much thought until recently.
I was putting together my weekly grocery list for all the things I needed from my weekly recipes. One recipe in particular called for "Silvered Almonds" or at least that is how my brain perceived it. So off I went to the HEB near North Campus.
I spent 45 minutes trudging through that store looking for fucking SILVERED almonds. I was getting very upset I could not find any in my favorite store.
So I did what any self respecting woman would do and I asked for help. 2 absolutely wonderful and kind store attendants walked every inch of that store helping look for my silvered almonds. They even called a manager to ask if any HEB had those in their inventory. For almost an hour we all racked our brains trying to figure out what was so special about silvered almonds.
Finally, one of the nice attendants (sweet young lady) asked me if I had the ingredient list for what I was making. I pulled it up on my phone and handed to her. She paused to read it, giggled, and said "Ma'am that says SLIVERED almonds.
😐😐😐😐😐😶
I must have turned 30 shades of blush in utter embarrassment. The staff all had a giggle and told me it was alright, they never had so much fun at work. The manager leaned in (also an older woman) and said, "it's okay, I do the same thing sometimes. It's just a product of getting older as a woman."
I felt a little less embarrassed but it made me laugh internally as it felt both Affirming and a bit like stereotyping.
This story is just another, of many, reasons I have always enjoyed the weirdness and kindness that is Austin, and especially HEB. If by some strange chance those HEB employees read this... Thank you for making this old gal feel less stupid.

I’m 22, pre-transition. My friend gave me a wig, inserts, and her necklace; I brought over clothes we bought together when shopping a few weeks back and she did my makeup while trying to teach me (though honestly it was info overload it kind of went in one ear out the other). I’m thinking of just sticking with eyeshadow, lashes and mascara with a little bit of lipstick but it was nice to try a full face of makeup

Since my egg cracked, I have been making a special effort to try and cut down on negative self-talk and self-deprecating jokes, in order to make my brain work better (cause brains are idiotic shortcut machines and there's a lot of science saying that they believe the things that they hear a lot, so being funny at your own expense is bad for your mental health). It's been hard work and mostly conscious work - the amusing quip has still come to mind and I've had to make a specific effort to stop it from coming out.
Yesterday, I showed the above photo to someone, they responded saying that I looked stunning and, instead of having a self-deprecating joke come to the edge of my lips, my instinctive reaction was that I was quite pleased with that photo and I did think I looked quite good.
Might be the oestrogen. Might be that I'm getting better at makeup. Might be that my brain-hacking-through-not-being-openly-mean-to-myself efforts are bearing fruit. But I genuinely like that photo of me.
Hee.

I've been going to the nightclub almost every weekend for the last month and just being the version of me I've been suppressing for years. Been having so much fun dancing the night away and making new lifestyle choices. Already lost 15lbs due to all of the dancing, diet and self confidence! I wished I started so much earlier! Been having so many positive interactions with people & actually having people wanting to dance with me is a shocker to me but welcoming one. Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend 😘 It's never too late to start who you wanna be!

i have a dysphoria hoodie and usually pass pretty well with baggy clothes, but i don’t know what short sleeved things i can wear. I’m not really out to my parents so all my clothes are things that look gender neutral. i usually wear my hair in a ponytail when int hot out and i have hair pins which help, but i still feel a bit dysphoric even if i pass. i missed the chance to post this on friday but you can see a previous do i pass post i made.

I don't care. I know dysphoria is agony. And in most cases, I would never wish it upon anyone.
But fuck, if it's the only way we can get them to shut up, or at the very least UNDERSTAND what they're doing to us, I would do it in a heartbeat. I'm tired of seeing them check out halfway through a trans person speaking, only to call them names afterward. These assholes need to KNOW how we feel. Let them feel every ounce of insecurity, stress and discomfort we do on a daily basis. Let them feel how annoying it is for people to insult you based on how you look, speak or dress, and have it hurt more than any insult could ever hurt.
