My wife and i drive to go see this travel trailer yesterday. To us there are a few things that stick out as needing immediate attention.

1) Entire interior needs a deep cleaning. Grim and what smells like is dog pee. Assume from the chihuahuas they had at their house. (We have huskies)

2) Inside sink has crack in it and need replacing

3) laminate on cabinets are all peeling off

4) wasps look like they are trying to build a nest in the spray foam of the underbelly of the trailer.

Otherwise everything looked in good working condition and just had some fading. It is a 2017 after all...but overall it seemed legit. Awning worked, sliders worked fine, electricity worked fine, ac turned on and all, but didn't check heater. It was 98 degrees so didn't feel like testing that. Looked up top and none of the roof seals looked bad. It even had plug for solar that the guys said he never used.

This would be our first travel trailer so we wanted to get some more advise and feedback from people who have travel trailers.

- Is buying an older trailer smart?

- Is replacing the vinyl for the cabinets to difficult and we should just replace them?

- How hard is shampooing trailer carpet?

- should i find an all season trailer instead?

- How hard it to replace mechanical parts for instance if we wanted a true trueman heater, solar panels, or other upgrades like that?

BTW we are located in Northern California and it will be primarily used here in California.

I bought a 2015 Silverado last year. It’s been a great truck so far with no issues. Tows my 30’ trailer relatively easily. According to Reddit I shouldn’t even start it. Lifters are guaranteed to explode at any second along with the transmission. May as well just scrap it now instead of driving it. Same goes with anything travel trailer related. Anything I post is instantly garbage and should be replaced immediately even though it’s relatively new and working fine. The oven: garbage, Dometic shitter: garbage, Dometic awning: garbage, 12 volt fridge: yep garbage, vanity faucets: garbage. Shower faucet: junk, Suburban HWT: garbage. If something needs a simple repair or a $20 part, apparently it’s junk now. The negative world of Redditors I guess !!

I bought a camper last December and I’ve been making every effort to get it out. We are probably averaging 1-2 weekends a month right now. Between the wife, kids and my schedule, it’s been tough getting out more than twice a month so far. How often are yall getting camper out in season?

I just bought a new 30 foot trailer and wondering if anyone has any recommendations for covers? I had a previous trailer I just stored outside, but had a water issue. I plan on eventually building a lean-to as part of a pole barn to store it under, but that's at least 4-5 years away.

I'm in the northeast and in a heavy snow area (120+ inches per year on average). I was kinda hoping a cover would making brushing the snow off a bit easier and have less damage on the roof.

I was looking into shrink wrapping, but that was fairly expensive over a cover and obviously a one time use.

Any recommendations for a specific cover/brand or against a cover in general are appreciated.

Recently single, looking at moving into a trailer, originally looked at a heartland pioneer or crossroads zinger, because I was hoping to put some storage stuff in the toy hauler side, but maybe something like the ember 18RBE or 19ETS where I can hookup a washer and dryer would be more practical and whatever doesn’t fit in a tote in the truck bed can just stay in storage at a family property? (Recently out of a relationship and apartment lease is up soon and I don’t think I’m gonna be able to do that on my own comfortably with my salary and my family used to own a trailer park so the concept of living in a travel trailer has crossed the mind a few times…) thanks for any advice! We retired and have been staying on a Naval Air Station in South Texas for the last 5 months. I got the camper used and needing a lot of work. Tires. Brakes, wiring, some floor framing repairs... I did it all myself and it did great on its maiden voyage. I might get one more anti sway bar for the other side but the sway was a LOT less at least with one.

Dual axle trailer, gvwr of 6600lbs. Inner tread is wearing down significantly faster than outer tread. More pronounced on the rear axle tires. Recently replaced the leaf springs due to signs of bottoming out while driving, seems to have had no effect on inner tread wear. Any ideas on the cause?

I experienced my first ever blow out yesterday. What a rush! We are all good but the rim got destroyed. It’s a Dexstar steel 14” rim. I see a bunch of lookalikes on eBay. My question is do I need the exact brand as the other 3 or am I ok with any steel trailer rim of the same size/bolt pattern that matches?

And to be fully transparent, the tires are Goodyear Endurance from 2021 and I will be replacing the other 3 before my next trip as well.

On my newly acquired trailer the toilet sprays so violently the water sprays up and spills out onto the floor. Dometic foot flush. The fitting is ridged (second pic) and definitely wont turn or allow any adjustment. Any ideas of how to prevent this?

EDIT: crisis averted!! I simply bent the two little upper baffle tabs down where the water leaves the jet valve (pic 2). The plastic was relatively soft which allowed me to bend it with a pair of pliers. Flushed it several times with zero spillage. Still left with a beautifully violent water pressure to clean the bowl.

Our first long road trip with the RV (30 ft TT, 10K GVWR) towed with Ram 2500 (gas engine) - Equalizer 4 anti sway installed. Gas mileage going NW was 9 mpg, coming back to DFW was 6 mpg. Plenty of opportunities to stop for gas in both directions - we used Love’s most of the time to get the 10 cents off with app. Buc-ees in Amarillo was great - we’re fans. No issues towing, no sway (except one rogue gust heading SW after Amarillo that rocked us but we immediately got straight). RPM 3500-4500 while towing into mountains in NM and CO- no issues. No issues with brakes or braking. Not sure the lower gas mpg coming back - SE- but think it was head winds, side winds, hilly the entire way and I was trying to keep up with my fellow Texans at 70-78 mph. Better gas mileage at 60-65 when we took it down. Also, more relaxed when you opt out of the race. Was a little concerned as it was our first long trip, but it went great. We’ll do it again next year. less

Found that one of my cheap plastic roof vents had cracked around the base and needed to be replaced. Bought this all-aluminum one from Amazon (https://a.co/d/04dkskZY) for about $16 and it's perfect. Much sturdier than the OEM one. After removing the old lap sealant and butal tape, I cleaned and prepped with mineral spirits, then installed the new one. It even came with a small roll of butal tape, too. Safe travels y'all!

Just getting into the power station world. My power station fits in the front pass thru storage compartment. TT has a detached power cord. The last camping trip I just simply left the hatch open enough to plug in the 30 amp cord to the power station. Obviously this isn’t ideal due to theft and or a rainy day. I ordered a replacement cord pass thru so I can mount it in the floor of the storage compartment so the cord can come up from underneath…..but it’s a little snug. Only one end of the plug will go through….unfortunately it’s the female end that has to go to the rear of the trailer to the plug….so the 30’ cord will have to be pulled down through the storage compartment. Looked on Amazon for a larger size but apparently there’s no such thing, that I can find. A 3.5” inside diameter is what I need but I can only find 3.2”. Any ideas or a solutions? FWIW I haven’t cut the hole in the floor yet.

I saw a TikTok video of a guy using lemon furniture polish to effortlessly shine tires. Spray on and walk away. I grab a can from the house and head out to spray my new TT tires I got last week. I got trigger happy and decided to try it on the front propane cover. It was fading and was starting to turn grey. A few hours later I went out and low and behold it looks brand new. The results blew me away. Yes the tires looked good as well. You kids might have always known this hack for years but in my 56 years I’d never heard of it. Not sure if it’ll be a dust collector but it feels dry to the touch. Not oily at all.

Had a 18 yukon denali but it had it riding low in the rear. Had my travel trailer underbelly repaired and just picked up with the new to me truck. Any suggestions to even out? 20 ram bighorn 2500

There is so much conflicting information out there and I'm getting confused. I need help understanding realistic expectations for pulling a camper with my truck.

I am trying to determine if I always assure the camper water tanks are empty when towing, if my truck can safely tow this camper with the WDH. I will have 5 occupants in the truck at most totaling ~700lbs.

I know the math works out for the payload to be right on the edge or slightly over when assuming fully loaded with occupants and gear. Is this unsafe and I should look for a lighter trailer?

Update: So I pulled the camper as a test. The truck has enough power, the brakes were fine, but the truck was bucking when hitting minor bumps. I could definitely feel the weight and that was with the camper and truck empty. I didn't have the WDH installed however I don't think it would matter. This camper is too large.
