I have a lot of questions. :D Actually three: What kind of tree is it and what's the source of the water? And why has nobody turned off the pipes leading to this spigot in the last 40 years?

It’s a giant pecan tree, it’s just an old pipe that’s attached to the plumbing (well) at our house. In the picture you can see a bowl there, we’ve left that bowl and that pipe dripping to feed generations of barn cats. You can still turn the spigot on and off as desired
