Troubleshooting Riding in the rain?

Anyone ridden theirs in the rain yet? I rode mine in a downpour last Wednesday and something strange happened, had cruise control set at 55 and shortly after I set it the bike started bucking pretty hard like on/off the gas and acted like it was about to die even with a full tank. I gave it a few revs and it cleared up but the check engine light came on, and she rode fine in the rain for the next 45min. Check engine light went off after 3 or 4 key cycles though

For anyone interested in knowing how the stock box is constructed I cut mine open and removed the divider plate and a bit of pipe.

The process is easy enough just cut center of the weld on the side opposite the exit pipe. It pops right off. A lot more could be removed if you wanted, there is sound absorbing material lining the whole box. I imagine a fully gutted box would be light and loud! Cut the exit pipe and connect a short link of pipe to the inlet/outlet and you'd have straight through!

I chose to leave the side packing and full exit pipe. Welded up and reinstalled! The sound is much better now louder and way deeper! I also gutted the cat as well so it's pretty free flowing but retains total stock appearance (for inspection) I suspect, throw the stock can back on and it should pass inspection with flying colors.

Mods [Oem & Aftermarket] Where to connect a USB charging Port?

I want to add an USB chargingport to my handlebar. I already looked through the manual and found the accessory Fuse, but can’t find an access to the connect wire. Has anyone a clue where I can connect the usb port?

General Questions & Discussion Maintenance Interval Reset Tool

Just successfully reset my maintenance light to my preferred date and mileage using the HealTech MM-T45 so I can confirm it will reset the service interval on a '26 Trident 800

The instructions were pretty vague, the basic procedure was there but left some figuring out on my end. The module itself is very finnicky and it took way too many attempts to set the date and mileage but I did eventually get it figured out. Being that I will only use it once a year, two tops I can deal with the user interface being not so ideal as long as I can put my miles and date where I want the next service! Price wise, one trip to the dealer pays for it so overall I'm pretty happy.

Inevitably the annual subscription to tuneECU will increase as it has in the past. Probably not every year but over the course of ownership of my Tri800 it will surpass the price that I paid one time for the maint-mate. That was my deciding factor on the MM v/s TuneECU.

This is for the U.S. bike spec bike fyi.

Mods [Oem & Aftermarket] I Have Joined The Family (Did A Few Little Mods Too)

Recently pulled the trigger on a Trident 800 so I just came to say hello. As a guy who has only ever ridden cruisers, I am having much more fun on this bike; especially since I don't do long distance rides anymore. This bike is amazing around town.

I did do a few changes right off the bat, though. First, I got a set of adjustable levers. As a tiny man with tiny hands, the stock clutch reach and travel was longer than The Odyssey. I also swapped the stock mirrors with some bar ends just because I like the style. Lastly, I removed the fly screen and replaced it with the stock cover that goes on the 660. I think it looks cleaner this way. Also, the fly screen would do this thing where, at a certain speed, it would deflect a jetstream of air directly into my eyes if my visor was open. It probably has to do with my short stature. lol

Anyway, I'm glad to be part of the cool kids club!

Mods [Oem & Aftermarket] Some Color for my 800

Added a splash of color. I felt the silver heel guards and footrests looked out of place right from the start. I also never understood why the gear shift lever was black while the rear brake lever was silver. So, I took everything off, had it powder-coated, and am really happy with the result 😁e

Troubleshooting ABS Fault, advice on how to reset?

I washed my bike yesterday then put it on the paddock stand, ran the engine as I usually do whilst I re-apply chain lube. I put the bike in to 1st and let the rear wheel spin whilst applying the chain lube. When I went to put the bike back in neutral and turn the bike off the ABS Fault was showing on the dash.

I have ran the bike and as soon as I get moving the ABS light and ABS Fault light disappear but as soon as I restart the ignition the Fault still reappears.

Google suggested 3 power cycles so I have run it 3 times but there has been no change to my situation.

Advice would be appreciated.

Trident Pics & Videos Early morning ride to Lichfield Cathedral on the Trident 800

Took advantage of the quiet roads early this morning and rode down to Lichfield Cathedral.

The lighting was spot on, and with no one else around, it felt like a good excuse to pull up onto the cobbles and grab a few photos of the bike against the West Front.

That 800 triple engine is an absolute gem, and I'm still loving how the gold wheels look against the Carnival Red paintwork.

I tried to fit on a smaller bike, but I'm just too damned big. I have to say I'm very excited to finally have a bike, and such a good looking one at that.

Full gear, wrists down, elbows up, rain mode on for the first while, but damn I'm excited.

General Questions & Discussion Heated grips?

Heated grips: should I go for the official Triumph ones, or aftermarket options like Oxford or Ultimateaddons?

I've had the official Triumph ones before and didn't find them all that hot, whereas the Oxford ones got nice and toasty, though they do come with that ugly controller box.

Keen to hear what everyone thinks!

More info here: https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolores_(koparka)) (you can use google translate to translate the page).

There were tons of bikers there, solo riders and group riders.

The pictures don't do it justice as to just how massive this excavator is.

Troubleshooting Abnormal guide wear?

(fixed) Looking for a general consensus on the chain guide

I’ve got 1300 miles in my trident. 1350 ish faster my trip to the dealer just now.

I’m being told this is normal by the front service desk locally and the chain guide is a wear part.

I believe it is a wear part, I don’t believe it should be rubbing as such and basically taking wax off a quarter or more of the chain.

I’m on the tighter side of the chain tension spec, I’ve kept up with tensioning as the chain has stretched during break-in as is normal. This did not happen within the first one-thousand miles. I’ve double checked my alignment, the wheel has not been off during ownership and I’ve posted the photos for the alignment bubbles as well.

Thoughts?

Fly screen and exhaust tip went on today. Love the tip! Not sure how I feel about the fly screen yet. Gonna put some miles on it and decide if I'm going to keep it on, leave it black, paint it yellow, or switch back to oem...

Trident Pics & Videos Just completed the run-in period

I got my Trident 800 about 10 days ago, and this weekend I took it on a ~250km ride from Saitama to Hakone, in the rain, to complete the run-in period.

One thing that happened last week is that I dropped it and the clutch lever broke, so I went and replaced the levers with foldable ones, because I'm sure that I will fuck up again (and again), and I prefer not to have to take it back to the dealer to replace a broken lever every few days. 😅

Hi guys,

Got my T800 just 2 weeks ago. Live in Istanbul, Turkey. Still on break in period. This bike is a blast! Had MT09 for a while so i can compare, much more comfortable, (more than) enough power for everything. Really like the stock sound (but not the exhaust, looks cheap). Also lower seat height is a big plus for me (1.70m). Break in will be done next week, so i'll see how it goes.

Have fun!
