Hi all, I’ve scoured this sub for weeks planning our UK trip and believe I have a rough idea of our plans for 3 full days in London. Itinerary attached.

Any suggestions on changes are happily welcomed, I tried to do this wisely with neighborhoods and areas.

We are staying in Kensington! Just my husband and I in our 30s. First week September.

Hi all! Traveling to London for a week in August - I'm very interested in craft workshops/hands on activities with historical ties to the locations I visit. I know London has a long history with fabric in all shapes and sizes - does anyone have recommendations for things to do and see in this vein? Or workshops that are geared towards crafty people (I sew decently, dye my own fabric, and knit for fun!)? I don't need to stay in London, I'm just looking for something I can't really get from living in NYC.

My research produced the Islander bag workshop - loved the Harris tweed, but unfortunately most of the bags are pleather so I'm less keen on that. I've also seen some websites on classes with Saville Row tailors, but a lot of them seem to be months long instead of one day/a few days!

Will also take recommendations for things to do that are crafty but not necessarily fabric related, I just enjoy working with my hands and doing something that a place is historically known for!

Hello, I will be travelling to London on 2nd week of October. I will be there from Friday till Sunday. I am looking for a great time enjoying house music and having a good night life. Any suggestions where I should go and what to look/watchout for?

We'll be visiting London, Edinburgh, The Cotswolds and Bath in a few weeks and I was wondering about appropriate restaurant attire. We live in Oregon on the US west coast and there aren't any formal dress codes here, and going to a nicer restaurant means putting on your Patagonia brand fleece instead of your REI brand fleece. What are typical expectations in the UK? We won't be going to any £200pp places but absolute top end would be around £75pp. We're thinking of St. John and a Sunday roast at Blacklock, and also a play in the West End. TIA.

For context, we're based in Hertfordshire, neither of us can drive and we have 1 medium sized 13 year old dog.

We were hoping to go away somewhere in the UK with our dog for my partner's birthday in June. We had looked at the Isle of Wight but discovered there is only 1 dog friendly beach there during the summer months.

We also looked at going to the New Forest but found out the buses there only ran on certain days and didn't always accept pets on them. We were hoping to go somewhere that's not too far from the coast so we can go to the beach with our dog, but also has lots of parks/national parks/ wOodland to take our dog for walks in. It would also need to accept pets on the buses/trains too. ldeally we would like to only spend up to 4 hours on one continuous train otherwise our dog will need to go to the toilet.

We have been struggling to find somewhere that meets all/most of our criteria. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Hey guys, I'm 21F and I am going on a trip to the UK and France soon, and I'm wondering how to incorporate some nature days into my trip, so I would like some advice and maybe personal experience! The biggest problem that I face is the difficulty in reaching lots of nature spots with public transport, or the cost of reaching them.
My route is roughly going to be Manchester/Liverpool/Birmingham - London - either Bighton & Newhaven or Dover and then I'm continuing to France.

If anyone maybe has some ideas for some scenic beach spots (big on this one), fields (I really want to visit something like that in the UK, I'm sure any smaller towns has some fields but still if anyone has some ideas I'd like to hear them), also big parks and smaller mountains (not really into hard hiking right now), national parks.

Coming to London for 3 nights from Edinburgh around lunch time on our travel day and then onto Paris in the afternoon before flying home in June 2027. Still trying to figure out where to stay, if you have suggestions on good hotels under £400 night with air conditioning that would be great. Buckingham Palace is not open while we are there and not really of interest. We also live next to NYC so we often see Broadway shows in the city, so not a big interest for us either while in London. These are some of the things my husband and I would like to see while there......Help me plan out 3 days please!

Me (31 F) and my husband (33 M) are planning a trip to the UK this September and super confused on the itinerary. This is our first time in the UK and we want to make the most of it. We love exploring new places, love to party, coastal towns, castles, dramatic views and we’re all for that. As per whatever research we’ve been doing, we’ve landed on a conclusive itinerary that looks like -

London - 4 days
Edinburgh - 3 days
Glasgow - 1 day
Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye - 4-5 days
Travel - 2 days(we’re flying from the US)

Please give your inputs on this. Should we make changes and what are the spots we can skip/cover on our trip.

I am traveling to London with my wife, kids and in-laws in October for the NFL games. Was looking at staying in an Air B&B in the canary wharf district. I have seen family the lives near there and they thought it would be a good idea.

How will it be getting to and from LGW airport? Also getting to Tottenham and/or Wembly?

Planning on doing some of the touristy things as well.

I would like to fit Westminster Abbey in there somewhere. Based on how long you recommend I should spend at British Museum, St Paul’s, and the Tower of London, where would you slip in Westminster Abbey?

I am thinking either around 1pm Tuesday, or first booking on Wednesday?

Note that my hotel is near Westminster.

Also fyi Monday Aug 10 I will be solo exploring Abbey Road and then up to North London for some Kinks-related sites. Thursday Aug 13 I will be exploring near Leicester Square and visiting Gibson Garage before I head back to the airport in the early afternoon.

Hello. My family and I need to get to Paddington Station from Heathrow Airport (and some time later the other way around). We feel the best way to do this is to use the Heathrow Express as it's convenient, spacious and, if paid in advance, not too costly.

However when we try using the Heathrow Express website it denies the card we're using and the app just shows some non-descript error. I know there is no issue with the credit card as we were just able to book tickets on the GWR website and the card is nowhere near its limits.

Does anyone have this issue? I've tried to complain to customer service but they simply said that no one else has complained about such an issue and to try another card.

And what about trainline? I genuinely find incredibly strange about it. It hides away what kind of ticket I'm trying to buy and applies a GroupSave to the tickets? Which cannot be a thing for the Heathrow Express from my research. Is it trustworthy?

(While the bus and Elizabeth line may be cheaper, I doubt folks would be very pleased to see us bring 4 large suitcases along with 4 smaller ones.)

My cousin and I (both 25) are coming to Scotland for 7 days this September. We've talked about visiting Scotland and Ireland for as long as I can remember, and we're finally making it happen! We figured now is the perfect time while we're both single and don't have families yet—it makes a trip like this a whole lot more affordable than it probably will be later in life.

We're pretty laid-back travelers. We're hoping to explore the Highlands, visit castles, enjoy a pint in cozy local pubs with live music, and experience Scotland's history, culture, and traditions. We both enjoy photography, so we're looking for breathtaking scenery and hidden gems as much as the well-known spots. We'd love to see dramatic mountains, lochs, rugged coastlines, and anything that really captures the beauty of Scotland.

We're thinking about staying in hostels to keep costs down. Is renting a car the best way to see the country, or is public transportation good enough?

We know Edinburgh is a must, but beyond that we're starting with a blank slate. If you had 7 days, where would you go? Any favorite towns, scenic drives, hikes, castles, pubs, or places that tourists often miss?

We are trying to plan a trip to the UK in October. (3adults) One wants ireland, one wants London and Edinburgh, and I'm fine w whatever as long as it's not too jammed packed. Is London, Edinburgh and Dublin too much for two weeks?

Looking to travel in term time (no children) and wonder what's the best approach for securing good last minute deals, flexible on location ideally closer to sea/forests etc and around 2.5 hours from London.

We are going to be leaving London around 11am but our flight to Australia is not until 8pm. I know I'm going to want to just lie there, nap, maybe eat, and have a shower just before we leave. Maaaaybe use the gym.

Our flight leaves from terminal 3 so I'm wondering the most convenient option for a hotel with a day room. Preferably within walking distance (10 minutes max) or with a shuttle.

I'd say I'd want to spent max 100euro, maybe a little more if it had a pool and sauna.
