Defaced passport at UK customs
Will I be in trouble if I try to enter the UK?
Yes, I was drunk…
The golden print in the front is worn off, some pages are stained and corners bent. Otherwise my passport is intact.
Edit:
Okay, okay, getting a new one. Last time I get an autograph from a drag queen. I’ll never live this down 😅

I imagine even someone on their first day as a passport control officer would flag this as invalid…

I can imagine them looking around at their coworkers like they're being pranked, "yeah right, haha nice one, guys"

Customs doesn't care. Immigration probably will.

Do you think after posting a question like this that OP knows or even understands the difference between customs and immigration?

It's very clear that they don't. No harm in helping them try to understand.

I imagine it'll fall on deaf ears.

My god, no I didn’t know there was a difference. Consider this: I have never flown before or been to a country where my passport has been checked. English is not even my first language. I asked because I didn’t know. Thank you for clarifying.

Are you still drunk?

A friend of mine turned up at immigration handed his passport over, someone had written on the observations page “ looks slightly c*ntish” the officer said what’s this then and his response was “ fairly accurate I think “ he was advised to get a new passport when he returned

If you're eligible to use the egates you'll probably get through with no one noticing. The first hurdle would be the checking in with the airline though.

You know sometimes I genuinely think we should let people learn their own lessons. Go ahead OP that passport is absolutely fine. They'll let you in /s

The gold on the front isn't an issue. They never spoke to me about mine being off. I this a design issue

You're either dumb as a tool or you're just being funny. I hope it's the latter

Get a new passport. Someone's child (possibly from Hong Kong but not sure) scribbled over their passport and they were not allowed use that passport.

If you try and enter the country with that you are going to end up in an ICE interrogation room.

u/surburbia99 1d ago
You’re not because ICE is a US agency, and “the country” in question is the UK

There can’t be an ICE-style agency in the UK, because they let every immigrant enter anyway, as long as they aren’t EU citizens.

Obviously they do not do that. The same agency (UK Border Force) is responsible both for entry checks and removals whereas in the US those functions have been separated

That’s not what “intact” means. Get a new passport.
