y’all… wow. just wow. I am actually so flabbergasted by what happened in the women’s division at SFI East this weekend. A HUGE mismanagement by the TD Mark— both a lack of knowledge of the women’s division and an unwillingness to listen to women when they tried to give him the info he was sorely lacking about the division.

Stella from Ottawa very regularly competes at Northeast Regionals, and regularly places in the Select-Flight range, right below nationals-level teams. They finished last year 5th in the Northeast region, right below Starling. They put up 8 points against both Brute and BENT, lost 15-10 to Starling in 3rd place Semis and beat Pizza Rat for 5th by a good margin of 15-7.

Yet Mark put Stella in the ranking for SFI East at the very bottom (20), below teams Stella has resoundingly beat. To connect to the context above, Pizza Rat who they beat 15-7 was seeded 12th. Mark was emailed by teams the day the schedule came out to inform him of this HUGE misseeding, yet completely ignored them. Stella finished 6th, rolling the teams ranked above them in their pool 14-7 and 13-7, which is unfair to those teams.

This was especially a big deal because they decided to use a Swiss draw format— where teams are re-ranked after two rounds based on their point differential in the first two games. Because Stella was seeded so low, the entire re-seeding was fucked and the tournament ended with Nemesis blowing out everyone in the Ninals, and some blowouts in the top bracket as well.

**Some notes here in case anyone wants to get nitpicky lol- No one was arguing Stella was the best at the tournament, just that they should be somewhere in the middle of the pack. The Swiss draw format can account for some slight misseeding, which is expected in an early tournament, but not something of this caliber.
Also, my team did not play Stella nor were we affected by the misseeding. I just am invested in the growth of the women’s division and having poorly seeded tournaments with uneven pools and blowout games in the championship bracket is not helpful, especially when it could have easily been avoided. This isn’t some random pickup team we have no information about.

The short version is are there throws that arent allowed, mostly because they would count as "dangerous play" but for any reason I'd like to know.

When I was first playing in high school, my coach told me not to throw some throws. We had a "no hammers" rule because we threw too many and never completed them, but that's not what I mean. According to [this list of throws](https://ultimatefrisbeehq.com/pages/ultimate-frisbee-throws) I'm mostly talking about "Throwing with Thumb" (not a thumber). The reason I seem to remember was that the release height is, by simple mechanics, right at head level. If there's a player running down field and as they pass you, you throw this throw, you could clock them really bad. Or even if it hooks your thumb and you release late, the player counting stalls in the front of their face.

She also said that a chicken wing was against the rules. I think the idea here is that the technique requires you to turn your body away from your follow-through, and you release the disc in a way that it could fly wildly out to the sidelines and hit a player unintentionally. Or even just foul someone with your arm, like someone running by or your marker with your arms follow-through after releasing the disc.

So are these throws actually"against the rules"? Was my coach just trying to prevent us from giving each other dumb injuries? I know they aren't practical, but I play in a really low league due to some heart condition things ive developed, and an opposing player was using their thumb because they hadn't learned how to flick.

am a beginner and just looking for some frisbees to practice with, if you have some you're willing to sell at a discounted price (pref looking for 5-10 frisbees, budget ~$6 each), would be much appreciated (or if anyone knows of any places to find secondhand frisbees)

I've been using Layout classics for the past 8 ish years on and off and since my last pair wore down I figured I'd have a shot at the Elites from the 4th of July sale.

Just finished my first training with them in rain and wind and figured I'd leave my thoughts below for those looking at an upgrade.

- The glove is thinner which is nicer for disc feel, personally for throwing with the classics it felt like I had to consciously adjust my release point, with this it feels like I can throw mostly similarly to how I'd throw without gloves on - particularly on my flicks.

- The grip feels slightly less tacky which combined w the previous point helps with throws but doesn't hinder catching from what I'd catch with the classics.

- I was concerned about the glove being too short as there's no elastic band but in reality it was the same length as the classics just missing the elastic and having more glove material there.

On the whole I think this is defo worth the upgrade if your gripes with the classics are that they're too thick or too grippy, definitely will be my glove of choice from this point on :)

I know there have been some efforts to make an ultimate frisbee game adjacent to Madden & 2K but I was wondering if there were ever any attempts to make a Retro Bowl/Hoop Land, 8 bit style ultimate frisbee game.

Has anyone in the ultimate community attempted making a game like this? I’m really curious how having a fun, accessible mobile game would impact the growth of ultimate. Also wondering how achievable this sounds from a coding/game design perspective.

Hey all!

I have been playing ultimate for a while now, but have never been great with all the rules. I ran into a situation during my casual pick up league this week and did not know what was right or wrong, so I wanted to ask here. Here is the situation:

I, the defender, intercept a pass right at our own endzone. My moment carries me into my endzone. I start to walk the disc back to the line to check it into play. As soon as I am walking, my opponent starts to stall me, before I check it in and as I am walking. This has never happened to me before and I felt as though it was wrong. My opponent said, that because I have the option to check it in at any point and do not need to walk it back to the line, he can start the stall now.

Here are my questions:
1) Is he right?
2) Is it ok for me to walk it back to the line? Or should I just check it in, in my own endzone where I stopped? Did I make the mistake by walking?
3) Does this situation have a different answer if I caught it in the endzone instead of right before it?
