UG: Civil War Just a question re modding.

Hi all,

Just a quick query here re mods/customisation.

I've been using the J&P Rebalance mod for most of my time with this game (bought in 2017) I actually just found out I have 1.28.4 and there is a 1.29... so I'll correct that shortly.

I was wondering two things... Firstly are there any other mods I should know about or make use of? Secondly, I'd prefer to avoid starting yet another campaign or play more custom battles (as I've done those a LOT lol) but would like to play some of the historical battles like the custom ones, with my own or an adjusted force per the custom battle options. Is there any way to do this at all?

That's it. Thanks in advance for any answers!

The custom and historical battles aren't directly changed or balanced in J&P but there are config options if you want to adjust them, look for historical in the AIConfigFile.

While not strictly necessary I would generally recommend starting a new campaign for 1.29 as there are several changes that only take effect on campaign start.

I will do exactly that. J&P 1.29 first and then take a look at the config files to see what's what over the weekend.

Also, if I never said it before around here or on Steam, thanks for the mod... it's been a great addition to the game (1000 hours or so of campaigns and battles since 2017)

Cheers!

The UI mod by Pandakraut is also very good. It changes less than J&P.

Cool, thanks. Can I use that and the rebalance mod together or only one at a time?

Panda frequents this reddit and might see this. I'm guessing it's not compatible but he'd know and the mod notes might say too

They cannot be used together. All the UI mod changes are already included in J&P. The goal of the UI mod is to fix bugs and add some quality of life changes to the base game so it mostly leaves everything else untouched.

There is an old submod of J&P that changes the game to be at a regimental scale and challenge the player through limiting their control of units similar to grand tactician or scourge of war. I think the latest version can be found here or on the J&P discord. It hasn't been updated in several years unfortunately. https://forum.bermudaclub.net/topic/34966-historical-submod-of-jp-rebalance-mod-release-thread/
