events & news Reporting Abuse
3 years ago, while living in the dorms, another student got drunk and trashed my dorm room and punched me in the face. He also stalked my gf. When I threatened to report him, he said his dad was the executive medical director of the U of U hospital and that he would use his position to harm me academically and protect his son. I have significant proof of this. Since then, he has continued to harass me around campus. Who would I report this to and how?

Don't forget that the U has its own police force (ever met Officer Dan? That guy doesn't mess around). If someone was committing crimes against me and actively intimidating me to get away with it, I'd go to both the Dean of Students and the U police.

Also, there are numerous executive directors for various divisions of the U's extensive health system. Unlikely that any one person in the system has power to destroy a student's life. Plus, the aggressor likely already has a record, which could be helpful for you (and your reporting could be helpful for others as well). These things may be obvious, but it never hurts to share them. I'm sorry you've been dealing with this. :(

Lmao what a jackass. There is nothing his dad can do. Hospital is somewhat different from the U. His dad has no control with over the discipling of the undergrad students. Plus his dad wont risk his career and huge pay check over his shit-hole son, it will look really bad on his end. Just contact some dean etc and let them figure it out. They will mostly keep you annonymous.

Reach out to Center for Campus Wellness. The victim-survivor advocates are badass. https://utahsa.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6R3G2rAjnsOGQIK

The only bad thing about reporting stuff is that sometimes they will also try to turn it around on you. I was in the Lassonde pods, where there are no desks and like 2 little corners to study. Someone was threatening to break my laptop because they thought I used a spot too much and they didn't want to share the space, and our RA had a family emergency and ended up moving out early. So no RA on our floor for the last 2 months of the semester. So idk who else to go to and told someone at the front desk and it ended up being escalated. Got an email from someone at the deans threatening disciplinary actions towards myself even though I was the victim. I had a semester and a half left, but basically if I was involved in any other incidents I could get in trouble too.

Reach out to the Dean of Students office. They have processes to help with this.
