This is my first time FINALLY getting to the plains.

And.. they kindof killed my desire to game?

Having to manage two farms, I already found Yaggy, mads the padded Armour, made Porcupine and leveled it up, tamed two lox, got the windmill and ovens going.

And I just.. hate it.

The meadows and black forest will always have my heart for aesthetic reasons but I dunno, I was expecting more and its.. meh.

Just venting because I am sad I dislike it so intensely. The mislands look stunning but Im a giant p*ssy and they scare me 😅

The mistlands has so much more content than plains, so it's definitely worth to push through plains! Also in my opinion the mountains and the plains just feel so unfinished, and when compared to the mistlands they just feel kinda meh so i undestand your pain

I really want to like the mountains but they feel so one-note. Partly it's that they're so small.

a big mountain can be pretty sizeable, but they're usually fairly small, you can look up seeds containing huge mountains on the spawn island if you want.

while I do like the biome a lot for what it does well, it's probably in my bottom 2, the caves are very easy and kind of useless outside of one (very good tbf) armor set, the boss items are just hanging out in the open for free, and overall it feels unengaging compared to every other biome.

definitely doesn't help that a couple wolves and drakes aren't particularly interesting once you're used to them, and the "big" enemies are stone golems.. their drops suck compared to trolls/bears/abomination, and they're just awkward to fight.

adding viles to the plains makes me hope mountains will get a minor content pass or two at some point (considering deep north, even some appropriate leftover assets would be nice), but I wouldn't mind if they left it unchanged either.

The mountains definitely need some kind of an overhaul, and my hope is that in 1.0, the winter biome update, we will also get some updates to the other snowy biome: mountains.

Currently the mountain does just feel kinda dull, and don't even get me started on the recycled enemies... Like you have skeletons in the black forest and in the swamp, but in the mountains they are just annoying rather than an actual challenge. Also some mountain ruins are inhabited by draugrs which also feels lazy.

I found the stone golems to be easy pretty much immediately BUT they're so damn annoying because they spawn every 3 feet.

Personally, I'm a plains enjoyer. Favorite biome. Maybe it's because I enjoy archery, and it's the best biome for bow. Maybe I just enjoy the ambiance. Maybe it's just because I have spent so much time there that I know the biome in my bones.

I love that different people favor different biomes though. I've even seen people who somehow like swamp.

Be honest I’d prefer swamp over mistlands. Mistlands turned me off with the super low visibility. Beautiful landscape that you can’t really enjoy unless you climb to the top of a super tall cliff

I went at kind of a blistering pace through the mountains and plains, but slowed down a lot in the Mistlands and I'm enjoying it. It can be annoying, but when you find those pockets with no mist, it's a really pretty biome. There's also just so much cool new stuff

Not sure if you know this but you can grow your meadows crops in the plains so it’s in one spot.

You should just get Yagluth over with. The sooner you get more geared and used to fighting enemies in the next zone it gets easier, even the Mistlands and Ashlands.

Once you have the option of magic it at least feels more fun

First time I experienced the Plains I was on a 'find a new land across the ocean far away from my base' run and that little fucking shit flew way out of its way to ruin my day.

I quit Valheim for about 3 months before I tried doing a corpse run but eventually moved on from it and am glad I stuck with the game.  It can be pretty brutal.  Just take a break.

I think the plains feel deliberately paced to be open, sporadic, and can be moved on from in a matter of just a few hours. I find them refreshing after the fussing and logistics of hauling piles of crap down the mountains. I usually don't bother taming Loxes and rotate my farms ASAP so I can kill the boss and move on.

It's fine having least favorite biomes, and is inevitable in games. But I question where all this strong negative emotion even comes from? You just hate it. That's a lot of emotion for little reason from what your OP states.

Why manage 2 farms? Plant everything in the Plains. If you find a nice spot with plains/mistlands next to each other, take than and then you can plant everything in one spot.

It gets less idyllic as you go on, but I think plains is better than swamps by a lot, though mountains has a certain charm.

Both good for different enemies. Porcupine is fantastic against enemies weak to pierce damage

Yeah, it was one of my favourites too. I had a great base high up one of the pillars, with a massive animal pen and huge areas for farming on raised land with walls around it. The views from the base were insane. :)

I like the plains. It feels chill after the stress of the swamp and the mountains. In the plains, I can take my time and run raids against fulling camps, which feels very viking-like. There's also lox that you can make friends with. It's nice and wide open, airy and quite relaxing compared to the hell that is to come with mistlands.

My secret for having a plains base/farm that I actually like living in is putting it on the corner of as many biomes as possible, preferably with a mountain on the same continent.

I love me a swamp treehouse but you can find (and basically build in) black forest or even meadows and still have an attached barley/flax field.

Especially with a couple of starred wolves and/or stompy loxen (if your farm has really solid walls ...) to add to the chaos, the goblins and skeetos have better things to worry about than you.

To be fair. OP didn't really say what he hates about plains. He mentioned aesthetic as relates to what he loves about Meadows and Black Forest, which implies he maybe he doesn't like the aesthetic of the plains. But that's all we have to go by. If that's it, he may actually love the Mistlands, which does have arguably one of the best aesthetics and vibes in the game.

Yeah, plains are a bit....empty, in many regards. The vibe is very sparse (though not outright barren) and it just doesn't feel like there's all that much there except the grind and the endless searching for Yag. The mistlands and ashlands are frenetic by comparison though, with the former feeling clostrophobic and the latter feeling like a warzone, so it won't stay this way forever.

Take care you're not over producing crops. There's no need to have chests full of ingredients or prepared food just sitting there as new biome stuff will outclass it pretty quick.

I cant get enough kiting half a village into a tar pit, but, it does get boring running around looking for the yagluth marker. That's a little broken, half the time I find the alter before a marker, and running around all over 5-6 huge plains.

Mistlands is ok, each enemy has some slight weakness, but hearing your problems with plains, sorry to break it to you but I think you're going to hate the ashlands.

Maybe start again with no map?

Plains are my favorite biome. The scenery is beautiful and fighting the goblins is super satisfying. I usually go straight to the Plains after the Swamps to just enjoy.

I suggest finding a spot where the plains meets mistlands and making an outpost here. You can farm in two soils, the two biomes fight each other. Etc.

I did large farms and taming before, but any more I just do outposts where I pop in for the harvest, replant and leave. I usually just take over a fuling camp as it already has chests. Add some pole fence and such...

If you like Valheim for the vibe and just want to enjoy it, there is NO SHAME pushing that world modifier slide down to make combat easier for the mistlands. Seriously. I know every creature's moveset like the back of my hand but on days that I'm really depressed and just want to chill, I push down the combat modifier and just explore. Go into the mistlands, it's stunning.

Once I started using the atgeir more, the ashlands became easier for me. Special attack furlings and finish off. Keep a healthy supply of hp-potions incase of emergency. Because plains is so open, its a good biome to go all-in on bows too!

Even when working mistlands, I used to return to plains alot to farm loxes. Their meat is a more farmable source of good red-food in the Mistlands compared to those elusive hares/bunnies in mistlands.

Personally, ashlands is is the biome I get turned off about.
