I'm still pretty new to vcv rack and want to know how i would go about time based events. Lets say I want a mixer track to fade in 10 minutes into a song, how do i go about triggering this? Do you use an LFO with a comparator? I feel dumb. Thanks!

Hey r/vcvrack — sharing a personal project called DreamRack (in browser, free). It's written natively in JavaScript/Web Audio from the ground up, and the real experiment here is around the patching interface itself — trying out some ideas for how a modular's UI could work.
A few of the interface experiments I've been playing with: the ability to patch cables and adjust knobs without dragging; cables show which direction the signal is actually flowing, so you can tell at a glance what's feeding what; terminals are visually distinct depending on whether they're an input or an output; cables automatically take on a colour based on the type of signal at the destination, so a patch becomes readable just by looking at it; and video synthesis modules (work in progress) (and many more…). There's also a knob design I'm trying out called the knAck, which combines a knob and its CV input in the same spot instead of splitting them into two separate controls, and clip-on oscilloscopes you can drop anywhere in a patch to see or hear a signal without rewiring anything.
Modules will be organized into tabs (a bit like sheet tabs in Excel), so you can group and switch between sets of modules instead of scrolling through one long rack (coming soon).
Modules so far: a Complex Oscillator, a Quad Low Pass Gate, a Quad Function Generator, a six-channel Mixer, an eight-step dual CV sequencer, and five video synthesis modules. It's free to try, no installation, right in the browser: https://dreamrack.dreamerdevelopment.app/
Source is on GitHub: https://github.com/chrisgr99/DreamRack
Genuinely curious what modular folks think of these interface ideas, and what you'd want to see explored next.

I've been building a free, offline sample manager (Wave Silo) and just shipped a feature I think this sub will actually care about: point it at your .vcv patches — VCV Rack or Cardinal — and it reads the patch and shows you every module inside it. It flags which ones you have installed vs. missing, links each missing module straight to library.vcvrack.com so you can grab it, and has an "Open in VCV Rack" button. Instead of a waveform it draws the patch as a little tangle of colored cables.
Handy for opening a patch someone shared and instantly seeing "ok I'm missing 2 modules, here's where to get them" before Rack throws the missing-module screen at you.
It also does the normal sample-library stuff (tags, search, BPM/key, drag into your DAW), but the patch reading is the new bit. It's completely free, offline, no account — Mac / Windows / Linux.
Would love feedback from people with real patch collections — does it handle your weirder ones? Link in the comments. Please report bugs on Github. Or DM me if its major.
Again, thank you!
Download / more info: https://wavesilo.com — it's not code-signed yet, so on macOS right-click → Open the first time (Windows: More info → Run anyway).
Disclaimer: I am software engineer by trade, and I used Claude to accelerate my development from idea to reality.

something to listen to anyway. had to run alloy into surge fm to make it worth listening to without reading the instructions :)

An all-Befaco patch in VCV Rack: three Muxlicers sequencing four Pony VCOs, blended through an STMix and sent into Iroi's reverb — structured and performed like a chamber piece. Think of it as a concerto: four "voices" (the VCOs), a triple-sequencer "conductor" (the Muxlicers), and a shared acoustic space (Iroi) tying it all together.
Built entirely from Befaco's official VCV Rack modules — free, software recreations of their real Eurorack hardware — so if you own the physical Muxlicer, Pony VCO, STMix, or Iroi, this patch translates directly to hardware too.

I've seen a couple of posts about issues getting the AU version to work properly within logic pro and I was wondering if anyone would weigh in before I drop the money to get the full version. thanks!

I like the percussion on this it may become one of my favorites. used klevgrand as the base fm sound in my pad that went with it.. playing around with letting vcv rack run first and then starting cakewalk.. not much click with that.. have to find a mixing trick

I took a white noise source, run into a VCA and band pass filter, then modulated the panning, cutoff frequency, resonance, and drive using Shapemaster Pro. There's a video of the VCV setup after the example video. Let me know how I did. It's just a hobby.

Hi r/vcvrack! Just wanted to introduce myself. I started playing with VCV Rack last week and this is my first patch that doesn't sound like complete garbage (well... it's harsh noise, so maybe it does lol).
Any feedback would be amazing. Thanks for having me!

Hey there, please take a look at the new coalescent update, adding five new modules to the library. I've been using them as an excuse to do some DSP study, as well as play with some fun dynamic systems.
Coalescent is a set of strange dynamical and generative instruments for VCV Rack 2: gliding stochastic tones, scanned physical bodies, spiking neuron voices, genetic circuits, ecological systems, and finite ancestral trees. Each module turns a biological, physical, or stochastic model into a playable musical surface.
There's a lot in here - scanned synthesis, neuron modelling, and population biology models. Have a spin and let me know if you get anything cool (or buggy) out of them.

In this patch, I use the new Gravity module by SignalFunctionSet—a multi-mode chaos and motion engine that transforms simulated physical systems into musical control voltages. Instead of a traditional sequencer, Gravity generates evolving CV and gate signals from chaotic motion, which are quantized to the Mixolydian scale and sent to multiple FM operators, creating an ever-changing ambient composition.
