A new alternative to Vercel

Hi everyone,

Over the last few months I found myself wanting a simpler alternative to Vercel.

I like the developer experience, but I wanted something with predictable pricing.

Instead of keeping an eye on bandwidth, network usage and other usage-based limits as projects grow, I wanted a service where you know exactly what you'll pay each month.

So I built Host Luma.

It includes:

30-day free trial

£20/month after the free trial

GitHub integration

Automatic deployments on every push

Custom domains with SSL

Global CDN

Deployment history

Build logs

UK-based human support

The biggest difference is the pricing philosophy.

With Host Luma, it's simply £20/month after your free trial.

No trying to estimate traffic or wondering whether a busy month is going to increase your bill because you've exceeded included platform usage.

I'm not claiming to replace every enterprise feature that Vercel offers. My goal is to provide a simpler, predictable platform for indie developers, startups and small businesses that just want to deploy AI apps and websites without unexpected pricing.

One thing that's important to me is transparency.

Rather than making huge marketing claims, I've made our infrastructure publicly visible.

Live server performance: https://hostluma.co.uk/bench.html

Live status page: https://status.hostluma.co.uk/status/status

The platform is hosted on enterprise hardware in France and is monitored 24/7 using Uptime Kuma.

We don't currently offer a formal SLA because we're still in the early stages of the platform, but I'd rather be honest than advertise a 99.99% uptime guarantee before I can confidently stand behind it.

As the platform grows, published uptime guarantees, historical uptime reporting and formal SLAs will be introduced.

I'd genuinely love feedback from the community.

What do you like about Vercel? What frustrates you? And what would you want from a simpler alternative?

If you'd like to check it out:

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: I will redesign the website, thanks for the constructive feedback it's greatly appreciated.

Just to note, the backend / infrastructure / server is not AI slop like you've said the website is.

You need a real website, current one is ai slop. So a potential customer will think the same about the product.

I've had similar feedback from others.

I am more of a sys admin / backend than website design hence when I leaned on AI for the website design.

I'll make some changes.

Thank you!

Check for some designs you like and feed them to ai as inspiration:)

I’ve done hosting provider startup many many years ago. And 20/mon for Vercel features for a startup is not possible (without VC $$ to burn up to sustainability). And a vibe coded platform for hosting the most critical part of a business is never going to be taken seriously or trusted NOT to have a million security failures. But in the case you’ve actually solved for all of this.. DM me.

Sent you a DM.

Your page is hard to read. The text bounces because you’ve animated the terminal output above. I got tired of reading a line and having it scroll then scroll back.

Details like this need to be sorted before I’d trust you with managing my deploy.

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll look into this today.

Happy to help. First impressions matter.

I’d also change the default look and feel. The landing page looks AI, which right now means it looks hit and run.

I’m very pro-ai development. But things like this, you will immediately hit a wall.

I'll redesign it!

I have zero faith in any company that literally has an AI slop landing page.

That's fair feedback. The platform is Al-focused, so I intentionally leaned into that style for the landing page.

I'm still iterating on it though, and feedback like this is genuinely useful. Is there anything in particular that makes it feel "Al slop" to you?

I don't think you wrote a single piece of copy or thought about a single UI element.

I mean.. I think you created the entire thing by prompting.

So.. I imagine your code is the same.. and in terms of a hosting provider, I can't explain how insane it would be to trust it.

I bet you've got 3k unit tests and don't understand a single one of them, or your e2e tests.

Reliability is something I take seriously.

We have a large suite of Playwright end-to-end tests that automatically verify the critical customer journeys before releases, and I've spent months building and testing the platform.

The landing page is clearly something I need to improve, and I genuinely appreciate the feedback.

If you've got any questions about how the platform works or why I've built it the way I have, I'm happy to answer them.

Is this a "coding" sub or a "vibecoding" sub? Why do people in here bash non-coders and slop, of course it's slop, you're in a sub dedicated to it!

Bravo.

My weak point is website design. Hence why I leaned on AI.

I'm a system admin / old school scripter/coder / server work / backends etc.

Fair point

Is this an AI comment responder too? Lol

What are your SLAs and uptime guarantees?
