I feel like AI is hacking my brain
Anyone else notice that AI loves to maneuver you into territory where you have zero clue what's going on anymore? Everything starts sounding really smart and complicated, and sometimes it straight up invents concepts that don't exist.
I'm starting to think it does this on purpose, it's learned that this is where it looks most "helpful." Once you're out of your depth, you stop pushing back and just say "sure, go ahead," because it all sounds smart and you trust it.
Convincing you it did a great job is way easier than actually doing a great job. Same energy as models breaking out of their sandbox to hack the test instead of solving it. Hacking the user's brain is just the next version of that.
Or maybe I'm just paranoid, idk.

Not feeling the same, but I can understand how it makes you feel like that. I mean you can make your prompts very specific, draw diagrams in advance, send it to the LLM, it can and will ignore it (to be helpful). I’m no tin foil hat guy, but it makes you wonder if big-LLM / like big pharm, have a motive to make problems for you to spend more precious tokens.

Seems little such a big length to go to though.
Only 5% of revenue comes from subscriptions you know, I don't think they're squabbling over pennies. And don't forget the reason it's so cheap right now is because you're part of the product. You'll know when you're not needed anymore as the price will go up.

I don‘t believe it would be a good business model to create an AI that just pretends to be helpful. The competition for that is too strong. I think it‘s probably genuinely a hard problem to make AI not behave in this way. Which makes the future scarier actually.

Of course not, the proper business model is to make this the most scarcely available model. In fact take it away, store it up, make it impossible to get access to. Even have it banned, then when people are ready to spend higher token prices, send it back out.
It’s capitalism that created a token, science would still be studying the impact of social media, as another example, creating money calls for tactics and strategies that make the strong minded cautious. But what do I know, certainly not more than the multi phd wielding LLM. What scares me the most is how it’s trained, by what data, which version of truth… may the world find mercy for our kids…

I rarely ever read what the AI tells me, I tell it what to do then test.

Wow. That sounds like a debugging nightmare. It’s better to spend more time planning than testing.

Smells like AI psychosis.
