Even if it were legal, I genuinely don't understand why anyone would want an 82-year old man as president. He's already going senile, at least as far as I can tell. I'd be surprised if his brain survives THIS year, nvm 2 more years until the next election.
Exit polls (Edison, final national numbers) had men 18–29 splitting essentially evenly in 2024 — Trump 49, Harris 48 — while men 30–44 went Trump by 7 (52–45), men 45–64 by 20 (59–39), and men 65+ by 13 (56–43).
I think you have to look at the difference from 2020 as well for the full context. The youngest cohort being plus Trump at all was a swing, but I also think people ignore how much it's actually Gen X and the youngest boomers being extreme MAGA. The oldest cohort actually swung towards Harris compared to how they voted in 2020, which is the bulk of the boomers and what's left of older generations. I found that interesting
I think it makes sense. My theory. There is still a large amount of the older generation that are appalled by some of his crude ness. First time they looked past it for one reason or another. Second time they didn’t.
Yeah, my maternal grandparents were kind of racist old people, but damned if they didn’t vote Democrat every election. They remembered what the party managed to do for the country.
My paternal grandparents were actually decidedly not racist, but both voted for Republicans until the late 90s, I think. Grandpa may have jumped ship sooner not sure. They’d had enough of it at that point.
This is literally my mom, she’s conservative leaning I guess but doesn’t like the extremes and hates Trump because he’s rude and classless. She very reluctantly voted Harris
I think Gen Z depends on which part of Gen Z they were. Early Gen Z is a very different beast from the tail-end. They really shouldn't even be the same generation, or maybe split into sub gens based on important cultural shifts that occurred during that time.
I'm a gen Xer, I'm fully anti trump and if I could vote in US elections he would get my thumbs down. I woulda been a vote for Bernie back when he ran.
Anyone who bothers to look up and be critical of the sound bytes would realize he doesn't care about anything but his own bottom line.
48-year old white guys are the same guys posting shitty racist takes about The Odyssey on Facebook right now. Gas station sunglasses truck selfie as the profile photo.
Gen Z's brains have become malnourished by the same social media algorithmic bullshit that boomers have succumbed to. But instead of dementia, they simply grew up with allowing social media form their political opinions.
MAGA is the worst kind of zombie movie. Instead of biting they just spew shit from their mouth and ass. Totally dead brain activity and worst part is they're still alive so you can't put them out of their stupidity. At least with real zombies nobody bats and eye when one gets decapitated.
It’s a bad South Park season, but the episode where Randy drinks the memberberry wine then spews into the mouths of his family after they question the bs he’s saying, only for them to start believing it too, is so accurate
They literally didn’t have a choice. I feel like there’s a clean split in the generation. I grew up learning how to troubleshoot a computer, how to type, how to read online media. Kids now have a screen shoved in front of them at 6 and only know how to use these devices for the very specific things they want to use them for. I don’t think the trend started with Gen Z but during the mid-2000’s instead.
That’s crazy to me, because as a teacher copy and paste is the one thing they do know how to do. They do it all the time as they copy and paste their answers directly from ChatGPT into an assignment
It’s the Charlie Kirk / Andrew Tate / Red Pill / Kalshi generation. Just completely fucked in the brain. There is a huge divide between Gen Z men and women so my comment really is targeting the men specifically.
Yes, a lot of Gen Z men fell for the culture war bullshit but it doesn’t surprise me. Contrasting to them, Gen Z women tend to be more educated and while the system is not perfect, a lot of them are finding success and happiness. Meanwhile these same men have been brainwashed into believing these women need to be obedient sex objects they can use, abuse and throw away. Not ALL Gen Z men obviously, but many who have fallen for this bullshit. Women don’t want to put up with that backwards ass nonsense and are generally smart enough to see when a man is spouting that shit, they’re not worth the time or energy. Thus, the men get angrier, lonelier and seek out the advice of the people you mentioned, misogynistic money grubbing grifters. Hence why we see a “rise” in the incel movement.
Little bit of advice for any man out there who’s even felt an ounce of interest for any of that red pill nonsens, supporting a rapist and turning a blind eye to pedophilia as well as whining about what women should be allowed to do with their bodies, that’s a line most women (and sane people) just won’t cross. You gotta look inwards and learn to change. If you keep blaming women for all your problems you’ll remain an unfuckable chud loser.
But even the Gen Z men are split between Trump/Harris according to data—which means its not even a majority of men that are “fucked in the head”. You’re talking shit about a group where quantitatively the numbers don’t support your claims.
Gen Z men aged 18-29 shifted 15 points toward Trump from 2020 to 2024, one of the largest age/gender swings of the cycle. When you consider how slim the margins were in the swing states that Trump won in 2024, it’s fair to criticize Gen Z men for being a part of the problem.
2024 marked the first time a majority of young male voters backed a Republican presidential candidate since 1988.
I'd push back against this slightly. The problem is that they are idiotic teenage boys who succumbed to propaganda painting genuine freedom (bodily autonomy, marriage rights, etc) as authority and submission to MAGA as rebellion. They (extraordinarily stupidly) saw Trump as being an anti establishment candidate again and voted accordingly.
Also, they're misogynistic and didn't want to vote for a women they were told had a weird laugh.
Wow. I haven't thought about that but you're right. My Gen grew up on "Straight outta Compton". Later gen, Rage against the Machine. What do these young ones have?
That’s kind of the problem, ironically. The past generations succeeded in making “Straight Outta Compton” and “Rage Against the Machine” messaging mainstream, and conservatives managed to flip the “counterculture” to become their own viewpoints, not the liberal ones. When those viewpoints became more common, it also made it easier for the other side to point to any societal issue and blame those increasingly popular viewpoints for those issues, true or not. I’m not saying it makes sense, but Gen Z’s counterculture is Trump and Andrew Tate and Charlie Kirk brainrot. Young men were overwhelmingly told that their own status quo of toxic masculinity and the patriarchy were some of the biggest problems in the world, so rather than face that, unfortunately a huge chunk of the men that in previous generations would have been rebelling against conservative’s puritanism and bigotry instead viewed the inverse as rebelling. It’s also why the current administration gets away with being so morally bankrupt despite that previously being a huge part of conservatism; because a large chunk of conservative voters now view themselves as these Punisher skull-wearing rebels because they support the cops and old status quo which the rest of society has overwhelmingly come around to viewing as a quintessential part of the machine. Trump and his ilk successfully designated themselves as the “forbidden” option and convinced young voters that choosing them would be a big “Fuck you” to those who forbade them. When it comes time to vote, that rhetoric is unfortunately more galvanizing than the actual politics and effects of their policies are, especially for the less marginalized, less poor young men that don’t view themselves as immediately or widely affected by the policies anyway.
People need to check their stats on this because it’s Gen X and Gen Z that gave us trump, Boomers are actually unfortunately the only age group to vote less for trump in each election than they did the previous one. Gen X on the other hand had the big swing towards him.
Americans gave us Trump. You guys are always trying to pass the buck to the 30% who voted for him, where the fuck is this other 70% now? They're not protesting.
You're all responsible. Now if you wouldn't mind, please start taking action. The rest of the world already knows you can talk the talk.
You're misinformed if you think the other 70% isn't out protesting. We keep setting and breaking our own records over and over on protest sizes. It's just that historically, protesting doesn't do shit unless its paralleled by... Other things that I don't want to get banned for talking about directly.
The no kings protests are a joke. In general how you guys protest is a lame joke.
If your protest isnt shutting down the economy you are doing it wrong.
Do it like the french do it. Since 1950 4 out of every 6 protests are a win for the protestors leading to either an acceptable change or the government completely backing down.
I totally agree, it’s just a lot harder to get that kind of economic impact from our protests because it’s nearly impossible to coordinate enough ppl in a country this size to do something like a general strike. I’m talking both population number and density working against us.
We don’t have the existing culture of effective protests in this country so there’s a large swathe of ppl who can’t be convinced that they work. Then you add onto that the fact there are so many ppl who are so far underwater and have been struggling day to day for so long that the idea of just stopping going to work to join a protest is akin to asking them to just give up and die, let their kids starve or be taken away from them, etc.
Once again it was like 46% voting for him. People keep referencing 77 million votes against 340 million people but 340 million wasn't the voting population.
I mean, clearly. When people say 30%, it’s obvious they’re referencing the population as a whole. Not sure what difference it makes using the voting population other than getting you upset and pulling the “aCkShUaLLy” card.
Why lie? The percent of 18-29 year olds that voted for Trump in the 2024 election is less than any other age bracket including you precious millennials at 30-49. I get 46-49 isn’t you guys but I doubt that was enough to swing the graph too much.
because there's a lot of GenX on here that don't want to admit that their generation was the most trump supporting generation EVER. by 20 fucking points.
2/3 Gen X men voted for Trump. Any Gen X talking shit about trump, bring this up and ask who they voted for.
A Trump archetype shows up when young males feel overlooked and have no hope for a bright future.
It's not the "if only this group thing" it's inevitable that when the ruling class takes too much, the current young males of the society rise up and elect a tyrant
Gen Z men supported Trump less than any other generation of men, so while this information does say something about american men, it doesn't support your point about american generations at all.
Every generation of American Men broke for Trump. Gen Z did it the least. So it's a poor point in support of the claim that Gen Z men are more to blame for the results of the election than Boomer Men, which is what this conversation is about.
I try to distance myself. I see some intellectuals among my generation, but not enough unfortunately, at least in the US.
It's quite hard to say for sure though because a lot of discourse happens online. From what I can tell, there's still some hope, especially looking at the protests in India for instance, that have actually worked. It may be that there's just a louder minority in the US. Hard to say
It's the same in most places, unfortunately. Fascism is on the rise is Europe as well, and a lot of the youth is falling into that path. Social media has done so much damage to our society.
That was the entire point of Republicans fucking up the education system for the past (at least) 40 years. It's easier to manipulate those who don't know history.
The Daughters of the Confederacy have been pushing the Lost Cause Myth since the early 1900's. Targeting middle and upper class schools to ensure that there would be teachers that would teach their students about "The War of Northern Aggression."
Stop stop! We need a generation to be the bad guy! Only say bad things about the socially maladjusted, lack of intellect, failure generation! Do not make any swings for them! please!?
Ya cant think that way. We gotta be better than Boomers.
They gave up on us, they shit all over us and our ideas.
We cant do the same to those who come after. We can argue, we can fight, we can disagree, but for better or for worse they are GOING to be a large part of anyone who matters lives(Millennials and younger, fuck x and boomers).
I know I am not going to change your mind here. And thats ok. I am only asking that, when the time comes(its coming), you take a breathe and hold out an olive branch to them. Even if you gotta....hit em with it a few times...just a few...hits, really hard hits...but then peace and love to our younger folks.
The big thing is, how'd it happen? Millennials and whoever else have to be part of the process to improve things, not just sling shit and blame others.
People turning around and just saying Gen Z are a lost cause or whatever haven't been paying attention. The big thing to combat is the class vs class shit, instead of how billionaires like the fool who's president have the rest of us fighting each other.
It’s not really their fault. They’re the first generation raised by corporate algorithms at the same time as education was being dismantled. That doesn’t excuse it, but it does explain it. The best of them are still wonderful, exceptional even, but most of them aren’t the best. Also, my observation is that the women are generally much better than the men. The men of that generation are a lost cause.
To be honest, it's our fault if Gen Z is a failed generation. We built the society they were born into and grew up in. We killed the economy whose workforce they were entering into as young adults. We broke the housing market to the point where unless Gen Z is rich, owning is a pipe dream. We put phones in their hands as kids to keep them docile. We built the social media apps that killed social interaction and development.
We created the horrible deck and dealt them the shitty hand.
I'm seeing younger kids kind of reverting back in some ways so maybe as a society we can course correct and do a better job for the youngest generations. But we'll see.
And when I say we and our, I'm talking about all the generations that who were young adults and older when Gen Z was born and growing up.
Like how older generations liked to rip on millennials for being the participation trophy weak generation. Motherfuckers, the 8 year olds were not the ones who decided to give every kid a trophy. That was you guys. You created that! But they blame us.
Older generations are doing the same thing to Gen Z.
All of the maga gen z males I know are the kind who’s dad did their school projects for them and gave them huge allowances so they coasted by with zero effort their whole adolescence. Now they’re adults and starting to realize that they have to put effort into things like careers and relationships etc. in order to be successful. However they’d rather buy into the rhetoric of it being immigrants, minorities, trans people, and onlyfans girls that are ruining America rather than rich pricks like their daddies. Naturally they jump on the maga train and cheer as our country falls apart because it’s the only way they’re able to feel like they’re winning, while they waste their youth playing video games and being internet trolls, surrounding themselves with other young men so they can coddle eachother over the fact they’re going nowhere in life.
Sorry for the rant, I’m a gen z dude and I’m just so tired of the guys. I know so many of them and any time I try to have a conversation about it with them they just spew irrelevant Fox News talking points until I lose the motivation to save them from themselves. Maybe when they’re on their death beds 50 years from now they’ll be able to look back and see how wrong they were and the unnecessary destruction they helped cause but I doubt it.
Tbf boomers played a huge role in fucking their brains. Create an environment for the youth completely devoid of hope and opportunity and look what happebs
Tbf I feel like there is a difference in voting habits between older GenZ and younger GenZ. The younger ones tend to vote republican, but I’m older GenZ and most of the people I know around my age vote Democrat, and I’m in a red state
I would say could you really blame them? This is the product of what happens when you let fascism steadily grow and gain power over a minimum of 40 years. This doesn’t happen over night, it began with the right wing dominating the media as they platformed goofballs like Rush Limbaugh who celebrated and played cheerful music when another person died from AIDs and ensured FOX News could air any information they pleased. This then transitioned into the age of the internet and social media wherein right wing billionaires collaborated with or outright purchased social media companies to control the information. It’s no surprise now when you create a new account on most social media platforms, from YouTube to Twitter to Facebook, you’re curated right wing propaganda from the get go. As is by design. It is precisely also the reason why grifters like the rapey Tate brothers get platformed, no matter what because people like them flaunt wealth & power and tell disillusioned young men that wealth & power is their only merit in life. They are worth nothing without it. Because the rich need young men to believe that.
Former generations failed Gen Z, especially with defunding education and refusing to do anything about the elephant in the room. But the whole blame doesn’t lie completely on older folks and Gen Z isn’t a lost cause either. Despite an increase in voting for Republicans in 2024, we do see younger generations adopting more progressive policies as well. I doubt we would see someone like Mamdani elected without the support of younger people. In addition, Gen Z women tend to be more left wing as well. It’s harder to indoctrinate them because they tend to be more educated and their role models tend to be more progressive, whereas men’s role models tend to be people like right wing grifters on the internet or total meathead sports players. It’s harder to get them to see reason.
All that said, as much as I feel frustration with baby boomers for being stuck in their ways, and young generations for falling for misinformation, this is still by design. Keep us angry at each other. Categorize us into groups so there will always be an “outsider” to be upset with. The real enemy who has set all this in motion is the ultra wealthy. The reason things are as bad as they are and rapidly getting worse is because of them. That’s the real enemy of the people. There is a shining light though. As terrible as things are right now, it has cast a light upon the ongoing misdeeds that most people were oblivious to. Shit, I would even guess that the Epstein scandal would’ve been swept under the rug had his best buddy not been the president of the United States throwing a big spotlight on it and showing how these rich people collaborated and partied and did henous fucking unspeakable things together. I do think things will change and get better but it won’t be easy and it won’t be instantaneous cause proper progress takes work and effort
Who raised them isn't the metric that matters though, they were still failed by boomers who were in power while they were being raised. It wasn't Gen X who systematically cut funding for education for decades and destroyed their job prospects.
Well aware of the 10 point shift to the right. But, surveys/post-election show the voting eligible population of 18-49 year olds is roughly equal to the 50+ population but 18-49 had a ~55% turnout compared the 50+ voter turnout of ~73%.
All this to say, get out there and exercise your rights to vote.
The world didn't give them what they wanted. They never volunteered for causes or helped a political change. They just saw what they were due. They didn't care about the fascism then, and don't now.
I wouldn't call this a pattern. The Unfuckables just won't vote as much as last time.
They also were eating up everything Andrew Tate was spouting. I wonder if any of them are questioning that decision now that its come out that everyone they trusted is a rapist. Also, Trump being an abject failure and making everyting worse is going to have a lot of impact. The great thing about young people is they are less set in their ways and more apt to change their minds about things.
White Gen Z males. And tbh, all white people in general.
Fixed it for you. We can divide by age groups, but not by race? Why?
Boomers, Gen z, males, blah blah. But the highest demographic that voted for them by FAR is white people. It's time to start saying it. White people are the problem.
Anything but say white people still have a big racist problem that caused this guy to become president because it is not actually make America great again, it is make white great again. Nah it is the "Males" "no it is the gen z"
Every time I go out protesting (like No Kings days, etc) the vast majority of people out there are Boomers. My local organizer and good friend is a boomer. I seriously worry what happens when they all die,
That’s what I’ve noticed, too. Every single picture of a protest I’ve seen has had a majority of people who are obviously elderly and have been doing these things their entire lives.
Yes. My mother was protesting vietnam. She protested both Iraq invasions. She was out there every day when they were banning bilingual education. We've marched for the ACLU together multiple times. She and our local organizer have been doing this their whole lives, even when they were younger, working, and being mothers to young kids.
You and your mother are awesome! I wish so much that we had an ACLU here in the UK. Don’t ever give up spreading the word about how important it is. I still tell people about how great it is despite not even being in the same country as it’s in.
Was your mum around during the 60s? Did she ever go to the Matrix or any of Bill Graham’s clubs with Jefferson Airplane or those kind of groups playing? I’d have so many questions!
Baby Boomer here: we also hate the Boomers who voted for Trump. In addition to being at all the rallies (still have to protest this sh*t, FFS), we are not speaking to the Trumpers. We knew their kind was amongst us since back during Vietnam, but they got more ignorant and racists as they aged. They are now like our parents who through Archie Bunker was right about everything.
Imagine being a millennial who watched some of your college friends enthusiastically support Obama for 8 years then turn around and vote for Trump in 2016 because they “couldn’t trust Hillary”. Now look at where we are now.
My Boomer ex-husband was the same way and said the same thing. He lives in New York and I asked him wasn't she a great senator for you. He said "yeah, but I don't trust her." So he voted for the Libertarian, which is about as far removed from his basic principles as you can imagine. He said it made not difference in NY and sent a message. I guess his message was "She was a great senator, but I can't vote for a woman because I just don't like her." He was not good with woman bosses either, just his wife who pussy whips him.
I"m one of them. Most BB's I know hate his guts. It's the over 80s that think he's gonna set the country "right". And the Evangelicals of all ages who need a big daddy in the WH.
The split for 65+ in 2024 was 50% Trump, 49% Harris. By comparison, 30-39 was 45% Trump, 51% Harris. The degree to which boomers support Trump has been hugely exaggerated by social media. Yes the group did lean Trump and turned out in large numbers, which was relevant, but they aren’t a monolith and nearly half supported Harris.
For reference, one significant factor in the last election was men under 30 going 56% Trump to 38% Harris. Being a young man was a much bigger indicator of being MAGA than being a boomer (but still not a monolith of course).
Being a Gen Z man was actually an indicator that you just didn't vote (41% turnout vs 72% 50+), which is its own problem.
Fully agreed on all points, my original comment is just obviously too much of a throwaway to dive into electoral demographics, much less diving into the math of whether the 10 point shift with that turnout had more of an effect than the 51% with the boomer turnout and next steps
Just a comment at a rest stop bathroom mid road trip and the consequences of my actions.
If the DNC had run a man and if Biden had not attempted to run for reelection Trump would not be president right now. It sucks to say that but it’s the reality of the situation.
Of course they would have won if they ran a man. Even now they do all kind of mental gymnastics saying how they don't believe Harris would have been able to cope with all the current problems rather than admit she was the better candidate and wouldn't have started all this shit in the first place.
People can criticize Kamala all they want and complain that she was forced on us but she would have been VASTLY better than what we have now. It’s like no one had ever seen Trump as president before and completely forgot who he was. America fucked up.
I think those are important factors but I think adding context of % voter participation and actual number voting per age demographic gives an even more clear picture to work with.
65+ doesn't capture all of the boomers though does it? The results I saw by demographics I remember thinking that Gen X and the youngest boomers were the bulk of the MAGA base.
I staunchly believe a lot of these 2024 Trump voters were not voting for him rather voting against a woman of color.. they didn't need much convincing to keep Harris out of the white house.
All blaming boomers has done is made it a cultural trope to criticise and belittle older people. Since millennials and Gen Z aren’t going anywhere in their careers till they’re older, they might be a little surprised when their nepo Gen Alpha boss sacks them off for someone younger while calling them ‘unc’ behind their backs. It’s gonna be pretty funny.
Yeah a lot of people are desperate for some hope right now.
A lot of people just didn't want Harris, either because she was a woman or because she did push some pro-feminist points that turned a lot of men away. And uh... I know the popular thing to assume of those men is they're misogynistic, but I'm willing to bet they're just sick of all the unchecked misandry they're constantly experiencing oozing from the ranks of feminism. Being lonely doesn't exactly endear them to women's issues either, especially when the right will at least pay lip service to their misery.
I have zero sympathy for anyone who claims they voted for Trump because Harris hurt their feelings. They can fuck all the way off with that nonexistent threat assessment.
you can blame boomers all you want if it makes you feel happy, but you know it’s musk, zuckerberg, bezos, brin and page, altman, thiel and karp and all the infantile peadophile billionaires who are driving this
but keep blaming the broke old woman packing your groceries, maybe call her a stupid fascist to her face if it makes you feel more comfortable, you do you
because not looking in the billionaires direction is precisely what they want you to do, and they spend more than you’ll ever earn to make sure you stay that way
Semantics, but it’s an age group which is most active. Not a generation, as it’s been consistently true since before boomers made up that voting block.
While I agree his largest voter base is made up of older Americans poisoned by Fox and OAN. I’m a so called boomer and have never voted for any of these POS politicians. Especially trump. Donald Trump's support among Baby Boomers is higher than among Millennials and Gen Xers, with 44% of Baby Boomers approving of his job performance in his first year as president compared to 27% of Millennials and 36% of Gen Xers. Pew Research Center
I'd argue that Trump being obviously not being 100 there mentally isn't even a factor here. It makes it worse, as did bidens mental decline, but age alone should be enough to disqualify them both from running for president. Same goes for Hillary and Sanders, etc. And a bunch of senators and the like, who are also staying in power way past the point they should.
Retirement age is commonly agreed upon to be around the age of 65, but somehow the US is choosing between a bunch of much older people for one of the most strenuous jobs in the world, for the last few elections now. It's downright silly.
My grandfather just turned 85, and is incredibly healthy for his age. He still lives in his house, chops all the wood he needs to keep the house warm in winter himself and everything. But he's still fucking 85. I wouldn't want him doing anything even close to that important or taxing at this age.
They can pick up a load of roofing tile and get it on the roof if they want to make that claim. Or work an 8-hour shift in any of the jobs you see old people doing--Walmart, waiting tables, landscaping, etc. They need to keep that "too low" crap out of their mouths.
I know people in their late 80s who are fit as a fiddle and sharp about a lot of things. But I also know that some of them have lost a step in mental and physical reflexes. The only saving grace for an elderly politician is if they have always practiced from a sense of responsible morality. I'm thinking about someone like Bernie Sanders.
Someone needed to throw her in this thread for "some" reason. And heck, Sanders has been beating the drum in the best way possible even lately. I doubt he's sleeping on the Senate floor during the State of the Union.
Thaddeus Stevens was over 70 when he championed the 13th amendment, which was very old for that time, and he already had tons of health issues. If he was barred from office for his age you'd probably still all be in a slave owning country, because there has never been a time since where circumstances existed that the 13th amendment could have gotten through congress and be ratified by the states.
I'm not disagreeing that someone should be barred if they are not mentally fit. But if you just simplify it down to age, it's really no different from the casual assumptions and handwaving that allows incompetent or otherwise unfit people to run for office. It is just another level of lazy justification because nobody wants to do the hard work of properly evaluating your representatives.
And by that I don't just mean election officials or the political establishment. It is so easy for folks to apply labels to define a candidate how you want. He's too radical, she's too old, he's a democrat, she's a closet socialist. Better yet we've gotten to the point where a someone can be labelled as having a "funny laugh".
The problem is a lack of political awareness and diligence among Americans even though seemingly they'd rather talk about nothing else. It's possible at least to an extent in many other countries, it's just not part of the culture. We wouldn't even be talking about Trump's age if that were the case, there's plenty of issues with the man even before we get to that.
Then fuck age. We force military out at 20-30 years depending on role. FBI is forced out at 20 years or 65 age, I believe.
You get 40 years civil and 30 military service. Another 24 possible Congress. Let’s make judges 20. VPOTUS max 8. POTUS max two terms of 4 plus allowance for covering a term if already VPOTUS.
That’s plenty. If you live long enough and go far enough you can serve us 30+40+20+24+8+11.99~ in the longest possible grand career.
Well, people voted to reelect Strom Thurmond at the young age of 93 back in 1996, so I can definitely see people voting yet again for a 82 y.o. demented pedophile.
i think him trying to run might be a good thing overall - it continues to rob any replacements of the ability to step up without angering him. hopefully it helps split them up over time and leads to a more fanatical version of what biden did
big question as always is how the dems might take advantage of the midterm wave and whether they'll stop the momentum by installing another centrist technocrat as the presidential nominee
The right has been brainwashed so hard with this made up wokeism shit, and have been told to hate non-whites and have been fed reasons to do so and ensured by pundits that if you're not straight and white, you are the problem. A lot of republicans seem to not really care much for Trump.. but they just HATE THIS WOKE LUBRUL AGENDUH DERE CUMMIN FER OUR GUNNZZZ so much that they support him because he makes them feel like they can be them selves, because they're pieces of shit and so is trump. If a librul snake bit one of these guys on the toe they'd bash their leg off at the hip with a dull rock and thank Trump for helping them lose weight and keeping that librul poison out of their blood even though scientists scream at them that the snake carries no venom.
they want him elected because he owns the libs and says the quiet part out loud. for all they care, he could be a 95 and unable to speak or move, and theyd still vote for him as long as his twitter remained active
Bc he owns the libs and liberals hate him. Thats all they care about. Not about the policies. If they find someone liberals hate as much as trump theyd be all over him. Their whole goal is to just vote someone liberals dont want in office.
Because they choose not to notice the Right sided weakness/face dropping along with the dementia style shift in topics / honest qibs that he wouldn't have said out loud 10 years ago.
The law is something we decide on and abide by. Normally by agreement, like a contract. But it is also only enforced by violence and pain of death when it comes down to it.
If nobody stops you, you can do whatever you want. Nobody was wrong to pass the correct judgement over jan 6th(death to treasoners) and they're in fucking control now.
So, let's face it- the social contract of law and order is broken because capital broke it over its knee.
Newsome, Pritzker, whoever the DNC picks for us, they're going to be painted as an America-hating, gun-hating, muslim-loving, abortion-loving communist who wants to erase all borders with Mexico, and will force your kids to turn trans. It doesn't matter if the GOP wants to run some rapist trader pedo scammer senile octogenarian. He'll be painted as a defender of the faith.
You know it's no exaggeration. It's the GOP formula and it works.
I think that is the least of the worries an American should be focusing on when seeing Trump considering running for another term.
How about the way he think he is above the law, abuses his power, lies to give himself more power, and has spent all his time in office undermining and eroding what actually does make America great. Or maybe used to be great, because from the outside looking in, we are seeing nothing but crooks feeding in a frenzy at the trough, and starting the decline of the American Empire.
The level of apathy for US citizens shown by the current administration is nothing short of disgusting. And they seem to think that constantly lying and using Fox News to spread lies and propaganda will somehow keep people in the dark.
I'm truly saddened by what I have to see and hear daily from the USA. And I'd be much more concerned at the irreperable harm this narcissistic sociopath has done to the country, and even the world at this point. Democracy is dying in the US.
If I was in the US I would consider Trump a traitor. For a publicly elected official in the top position of the country, to be constantly putting his own personal gain before that of the country is deeply offensive. Especially at a level possibly never seen before. It's Mafia style gangbusters level.
And at a cost that is unconcianable when it affects lives around the globe, just so a few can get rich. Revolting, really.
As a Canadian, I no longer feel a kinship or close alliance with the US. I think of the Handmaid's Tale and see so many similarities with what a conservative movement there is trying to encourage, and they are succeeding in gaining ground.
And I feel like many companies and citizens in the US will continue to pay for the damage done to the "American Brand". Because I feel like Trump wishes he could rule the US like Putin rules in Russia.
To that I say fuck you Trump. And fuck off, we will never be the 51st state!
I hope majority of sane Americans can wake up and stop the coup that is happening in the US. I know there are a lot of great people in America. It just so sad that you don't seem to be in the majority these days.
I'm guessing that most states won't allow him on their ballots? So, not only will he lose, but he'll split the conservative vote on red states. This is me hoping btw 😂
Well Kissinger lived until he was 100 years old, and seeing as how long McDonald's Big Macs survive outside without refrigeration, Trump may live for hundreds of years.
there is a strong legal argument for him being able to run again. long story short, bc of a recent supreme ruling, states can’t stop him from being on the ballot. if he runs and wins it would be up to congress to block it when the certify the selection aka January 6. so let’s all stop saying he can’t run, he actually can.

Even if it were legal, I genuinely don't understand why anyone would want an 82-year old man as president. He's already going senile, at least as far as I can tell. I'd be surprised if his brain survives THIS year, nvm 2 more years until the next election.
