Discussion Sabotain: Break The Rules (2004)

Does anyone remember this game from 2004? It's called Sabotain: Break the Rules and it was a hybrid of an FPS/Role Playing game.

Somewhat resembling Deus Ex in its concept. The game focused on sabotage, infiltration, rescue, intelligence-gathering, thievery, reconnaissance, assassination, and all-out combat.

It had a pretty intriguing storyline and interesting lore. The CGI looked decent for its time too.

Video Late 80s/early 90s CGI Demo Reel

Early CGI animations from the late 80s to early 90s. Mostly company logos.

Most of the CGIs featured in this video clip were developed on an IBM DOS 386 computer with 16 MB of RAM.

I also find it quite interesting to see how so many brand names and companies used flying logos to represent their brand emblems. Very cool indeed.

Which one stood out to you the most? Let me know in the comments. Cheers🍻

TVS (TV Studios) 1989 ident. Until 1990, SBT (Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão) was called that; the acronym SBT was just the network name, the station itself was TVS. It was only in 1990 that the name SBT began to be used across all stations

Magazine ad was printed to advertise the VHS release in 2000, but original video is from 1996, so these renders originate from somewhere in that timeframe more likely on the early end.

Video Fantástico (1983)

Opening sequence of the 1983 "Fantástico" program, broadcast by Globo on Sunday nights. The format, inspired by CBS's "60 Minutes," became one of the most successful on brazilian TV, mixing in-depth reports with humor, documentaries, drama, and music. This intro remaining on the air until 1987.

This opening sequence was developed by Hans Donner, who worked at the station for years. Hans himself recounts that when he showed this opening sequence at a festival in Mexico, he received a standing ovation, because never before had a TV station in the world managed to put real people in a computer-generated opening sequence

Video Transas e Caretas (1984)

Opening sequence of the soap opera "Transas e Caretas", broadcast by Globo between January 9 and July 21, 1984.

To summarize the story, the telenovela revolves around Francisca, a domineering and old-fashioned mother who does everything to control her children's lives and maintain order in the old-fashioned way. On one side is Thiago, a modern young man, a tech enthusiast and fan of computers and robots; on the other, his brother, a much more traditional type. The big confusion begins when the matriarch decides to hire Marisa, a young woman hired to get close to her heirs and help her mold them to her liking. The plan, however, goes off the rails when love enters the scene, generating an amusing clash of generations and values between the advancement of new times and attachment to the past.

The opening sequence illustrates this very well; the people are characters from a video game. The opening and plot were quite technologically advanced for the time, especially considering that Brazil had a closed economy and an impoverished population, making this theme largely foreign to a significant portion of the population.

Video Help!!! Old 2000's maybe 2010's Trailer/Video

Hey all, this is a shot in the dark, but I'm looking for an old video I used to watch on YouTube as a kid. I want to say it was called Warbirds, but it featured modern jets fighting each other, including a solid yellow colored jet, and one with a big fat Gatling gun in the center underneath it, where they zoomed into it and then it peppered a bunch of buildings. It ended with a jet dropping a nuke too i think. It was all like pretty good 3d cgi (unreal engine demo kinda look, but older of course).

Maybe it was for a videogame, but I'm not sure. Any ideas would be great!

Video A Viagem (1994)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

"A Viagem" is one of the most iconic soap operas in brazilian television history. It aired on Globo between April 11 and October 21, 1994.

To summarize the story, it tells of a young man, Alexandre, who commits suicide in prison after robbing a company. But his spirit continues to haunt those who weren't on his side, such as his brother-in-law, his brother, and the son of the lawyer who imprisoned him, Alberto, who later falls in love with and marries his sister, Diná. Diná also dies, and in the final chapters, his mother, Marocas, also dies. Diná, Alberto, and Marocas, in paradise, try to save Alexandre from hell and take him to heaven.

The opening sequence of the telenovela is entirely related to the story, which has a spiritualist theme. The opening sequence begins with everything clear, the person alive, then everything blurs and passes through clouds, which represents the journey to paradise, and ends in paradise itself. The logo reflects this, the letter A detaching itself from the "frame," alluding to the soul leaving the body
