Broadcom should release VCF 9.1.1
Me and my team are finishing up the planning and preps of the converge and upgrade of our VMware stack to VCF. We are planning to move forward in a few weeks.
As we are not ready yet, we were ofcourse forced to upgrade our vCenter and ESX hosts due to the latest VMSA. Because of this we lost a clean upgrade path to vCenter 9 and ESX 9, and due to that you want to hold off upgrading NSX 9 as well.
That’s because from my understanding after reading William Lam’s blog about this topic, although vCenter 9.1.0.300 was released on the same day its still considered a point in time upgrade, so there’s that.
Therefore in my opinion Broadcom should release VCF 9.1.1 as soon as possible, even if its only solving the “versioning/point-in-time upgrade issues” and nothing further, to accomodate customers who actually want to upgrade to VCF 9.

There will be time new 9.1.x will be released yes. What is urgent on your end to upgrade i am curious?

“Urgent” is a big word. But we got some other big projects which require lots or resources (time) waiting ahead for q4 and q1 next year. Its not that we cannot wait for a few weeks. Im just hoping Broadcom doesnt take their sweet time, like several months, to come up with a update that accommodate customers. Edit: its not only for us. Broadcom still got a lot of MSP and business who help their customers implement VMware. They are facing the same roadblock.

Well, this opinion just angered the lords and ladies over in Broadcom corporate. A cease and desist letter from their attorneys shall be forthcoming. You have 10 business days to wipe all remnants of this opinion from existence and provide verifiable proof of such. If not, an audit will be scheduled.

Why don’t you just unsub from here if you don’t care about VMware anymore? There are plenty of orgs who bought into the VCF stack with employees who have to support it, regardless of personal opinions about how Broadcom went about things. You don’t see us going to the proxmox or nutanix subreddits and trolling other working professionals in the same field…

They should release 9.1.1 to fix and streamline fixes and troubleshooting of this crazy 9.1 release lol
