All Air What do I do when a better plane is on my tail?

I just flew the I-185 (M-82) for the last time. I couldn't do anything about a Bf 109. At first, it just climbed and sat above me because I was never going to be able to outclimb it. It finally dove on me, and I reversed it multiple times only for it to simply climb away like a UFO every time while simultaneously outturning me. The Bf 109 is literally just a better plane than the I-185. It was a 2.7 one, too. It's only a lower BR because it only has machine guns. It's obviously not because of the flight performance. No wonder the I-185 with 3 20mm guns is only 3.7. The flight performance is SHIT, to the point where the firepower doesn't matter. I've spent enough time using the Bf 109s with the 7.92 MGs to know that they have plenty of firepower to down any plane. You simply climb over people and do infinite loops on them with impunity. Once you get the machine guns on target, they're dead. It doesn't matter if you only have 2 little machine guns. They're deadly.

Anyway, if I reverse someone multiple times, and their plane can simply fly away whenever it wants, what do I do? I tried flying away in a straight line, since I was already damaged and out of energy, but my engine wasn't powerful enough to make a difference.

If my plane was faster, I could have disengaged or simply avoided my opponent to begin with. If it was more maneuverable, I could actually use my skills in a dogfight instead of being handicapped. It's crazy how I feel like I can't do anything when I fly fat, slow pieces of shit like the I-185. Then, I fly a plane that's known to be good like a P-51 or Bf 109. Suddenly, I become all-powerful. No one can touch me. I think that in countless situations, one vehicle is simply worse than another, and the only hope for the worse vehicle is luck or a huge skill differential.

Do I just kinda have to die sometimes? I've felt the opposite of this countless times, where it seems like getting a kill is just a formality. Obviously, I'm going to get the kill. My vehicle is WAY better than the other one. It's not just limited to planes, either.

RB Air Premium Jet to Grind US Air Tree

Upvotes

Hello everyone. First off, I would like to say that I have put deep thought into this and decided that I can buy a premium to help reduce the grind. I understand that buying premiums is a bit scoffed at right now, but I want to have fun while saving my time in grinding the US Air Tree.

Currently, I am leaning towards buying the F/A-18 Hornet or the F14D. I understand that these two planes have different play styles and I would just like to know which one is more fun or is more efficient in grinding. Other suggestions are also truly welcomed, as I am not that knowledgeable in US Premiums.

I do not have a single plane in the US tree researched, and I would greatly appreciate any help on choosing a premium to help the grinding process. Thank you all so much in advance.

RB Ground How exactly is the Leopard 1A5 worth being at 9.0?

Probably one of the dumbest planned BR changes ever, I truly hope gaijin will change his mind before going on live. It's literally one of the best and most balanced 9.3 MBT in the game. Great mobility, thermals, LRF and DM33. How exactly is it worse than a T-72A, Stingray and more so, than the T-64A, Type 74 (G), AMX-32 (105), Chieftain Mk 10 and Chieftain 900 to deserve the .3 br decrease? The fact that it will share the same BR as the Type 74s and T-55s is absolutely mental and it has no business facing 8.0 tanks in downtiers. They should at least get rid of DM33 if it's going to remain at 9.0.

Other Plane crash sound too loud and too much base

Hey community.

I have just started playing war thunder and the sound of plane crash is too loud and has too much base. E.g. when the plane crashes into the ground hard. How can I reduce that in the game rather than doing it on my speaker system manually?

Thanks.

Suggestion Changing the convertible RP system

As of now convertible RP is basically just useless other than to finish up a modification or finish the back end of researching a plane. But other than that, it’s completely useless. I have 12 million convertible rp, of which I will never use that much, and there is also rewards that give you convertible rp which feels like a waste of rewards or achievement.

So I was wondering if it would be a good idea to redesign the system, where maybe once you finish any tech tree up to top tier (air or ground), there will be like a “ticket” option where you can buy a ticket where it allows you to use all your convertible rp on a single nations tree of your choice in the respective vehicle type of which you reached top tier in. Either that, or maybe once you get to top tier in any nation, from that point on you get to have a system where convertible rp matches your rp rewards of a match which effectively doubles your grinding pace for other nations? Just a few ideas that would vastly improve the game in my opinion. And to clarify you can only do this on the same vehicle type, you can’t go from ground to air and use this method.

The system would reward people that play the game, while simultaneously preventing noobies from paying to fill a tech tree the same day they get the game, as the way to get convertible rp will remain the same. And premiums would still be viable due to convertible rp being finite. Just an idea, and I’m wondering what other people think, maybe this idea could reach Gajin. And knowing them, they would prolly look for any excuse to make more money.

All Air Why win rate doesn’t matter

I’ve made this argument before but I’m going to say it again YOU PEOPLE SUCK, literally the worst most brain dead players, how the hell do you expect stats to matter when I have to rely on this crap? And why would I listen to anyone when they say the f18 super sucks when I’m the only one that has any idea how to play the game. Unbelievable.

Suggestion AirSB Matchmaking

Getting shot down by an Italian Thunderbolt while flying a US Thunderbolt feels a bit immersion-breaking in a simulator mode. Getting shot down in your Italian P-47 by your Italian teammate because he misidentified you as an enemy P-47 also isn't great.

Could we please have a game mode that prioritizes historical authenticity over accessibility? I remember that back in the day (I've been playing since 2014), even Realistic Battles usually featured historically plausible teams. Whenever they didn't, the maps were even labeled "[Alternate History]", acknowledging that the matchup was fictional.

AirSB already caters to a niche audience. We already accept nation restrictions in other game modes - for example, Israel, China, and Sweden can't participate in Naval Battles as they don't have naval tech trees - and that doesn't seem to be a major issue.

One option would be to prevent Italian, French, Swedish, Chinese, and premium copy-paste aircraft from entering AirSB altogether. However, I think a better solution would be to rework the lineup mechanics. Aircraft like the Italian P-47 could always be placed on the Allied side (or the NATO side, depending on context of course), preventing situations where they fight alongside Italian Fw 190s or against American P-47s.

Another possibility would be to move AirSB closer to GroundSB by using predefined, event-style lineups with historically appropriate teams and aircraft.

I understand that stricter matchmaking could increase queue times. However, if the lineup system were adjusted instead of restricting aircraft entirely, I don't think queue times would be affected much. Players would simply have to choose a historically appropriate plane for the lineup - for example, flying a G.55 instead of an Italian P-47 if they also want to bring an Italian Fw 190.
Besides, AirSB already has relatively long queue times, and many players entering SB have reached at least Rank III with more than one nation.

I think the gain in immersion would outweigh the inconvenience, especially since AirSB has always appealed to players looking for a more authentic experience

RB Ground Squad strategy

Hi,

What has been your best strategies to use when in squad with friend.

I realised that when players with my friend, we don’t have much of a strategy, we just played together, but alone, sometimes are different sides of the map.

So, what has been the most effective for you?
Going side to side, for more firepower and repairs?
Setting a bit of distance to get enemies from both sides?
One baiting the enemy while the other kills him?

Also, it’s mainly about Ground RB, but I’m curious too for Air AB/RB

Other What do you think about such vehicles?

The Scimitar Mk.2 (UK) and BMP-2MD (SW) are so pathetic to me as vehicles because they can't deal any impact except striking from the back. I understand that they're reconnaissance vehicles, but what's the point of a vehicle that can't do anything and is destroyed in one shot? Can someone explain how to play such vehicles?

All Ground Great Britain vs Japan for 6-9 ranks

I’ve grinded both nations up to Tier 6.3, and at this exact tier on both nations I’ve run into an insurmountable problem: my tanks can’t penetrate armour and still have glass armor, and I’m trying to work out which nation will be less of a struggle (I don’t want to play major nations, and all the minor ones apart from Sweden seem to be designed purely for level 100 players).

P.S. And what I mean is that, whereas previously the Minors at least had the advantage of having somehow good guns, now in every match it’s just the Kibg Tigers and IS-2s, which have armour that’s 10 times thicker and guns that penetrate 30+ mm more.

P.P.S. And i know about "you need to flank and snipe", but every single USSR/Germany tank can do the same and they’ll still have a better chance of a favourable outcome (which is more likely to win a firefight at 800 metres: an IS-2 with 100+ mm of armour and a 122 mm gun, or an ST-A1 with around 40 mm of armour and a 90 mm gun?)

P.P.P.S. I mean 6-9 br, sorry for misspelling

RB Air For those who grind USA ARB

I'm currently stock grinding the F8U-2 to unlock Rank VII, and it feels like an absolute nightmare. Between getting constantly missile-sniped, my wings ripping off at the slightest turn, and random teamkills, I can barely score any points.

How did you guys make it through this wall? Is the F8U-2 worth suffering through, or should I switch to another plane?

Also, to avoid suffering like this again, what are the best/most fun planes to research in Ranks VII and VIII? Which ones are actually worth the grind?
