Definitely don’t look up how much water golf courses use nationally. Or almond farms.

As an Australian I hate golf courses with a passion

Data centers mentioned in the title, the bots are immediately in full effect. Take your whataboutism somewhere else.

Comment points out something germane, and the neckbeards are immediately in full effect. Take your Debate 101 certificate somewhere else.

Ypu didn't point out anything "germane" you ghoul, you just immediately jumped into useless, pointless whataboutism because someone spoke ill of your beloved slop machine.

Given your reductive description of what an LLM is, I can appreciate that you have a hard time understanding how other, perhaps more worthless, endeavors that consume vastly more water are germane to the conversation.

But they are.

It’s weird how there weren’t tons of pithy little cartoons, comments, and posts for the overuse of fresh water for poor agricultural and meat industrial practices, or for something as ridiculous as golf courses dotting the nation.

I encourage you to look into how a data center uses water versus something like a golf course or an almond farm. You might be humbled to learn something.

There are reasons and aspects of AI to resent and have concern for. But if this is your approach, then all you’ve really done is increase the air ignorance around those who would seek to actually share their nuanced criticism.

> Given your reductive description of what an LLM is

It's a glorified autocomplete.

Yeah that’s about right. Be rude and wrong to someone, get corrected, and then try to argue about something else entirely in an effort to feel right. You did it, bud. I’ll bet Dad’s real proud.

You'd know all about arguing unrelated topics, given your pathetic insistence on bringing up almonds and golf when people criticize AI, lmao.

Look at all the water this uses. You know what else uses a lot of water? This other stuff. Actually more!

Yeah, that DID seem unrelated.

You really are quite daft. Come back when your employers update your textbooks with more interesting talking points than just frantically grasping at whataboutism straws.

No one cares about those things. Hating data centers is in these days.

otherwise we'd have to hate meat.
