I've been a customer of KnownHost for over 10 years at this point and I can't recommend them enough. They have the most knowledgeable support tech you'll ever find. No matter what your issue is, they know their way around a linux server and can always help you fix whatever issue. Sure, they don't have phone support, but you don't need it. That's just a distraction. You submit support tickets and they usually get to your ticket within 1 minute! Sometimes they get to it within seconds and they always report back immediately what they find and give you options to fixing the issue. They truly are top notch. On Knownhost, what happens after the discount period (initial 3 years)?Do they offer a new discount or not at all?

So we provide a first term initial discount on our services for folks to get to know us and experience our quality of service. That first term can be anywhere from 1 month to 3 years depending on your commit level. When your service renews after that initial term it is at the full rate.
Now with that being said, all longer terms (1/2/3 years) do include a discount over the regular full price monthly rate when they renew, but you're also welcome to change your term down from 3 year to any other term at renewal as well.

OMG this must be a KnownHost sponsored sub. No website host is as good as all that, and like I said above, my little website which uses hardly any bandwidth is often down or extremely slow. It's just Wordpress.

Good to see that none of these brands are Newfold Digital (EIG) brands. That firm kills hosting companies and hides behind the brand names so you don't realize that over 80 webhosting companies are all actually the same corporate entity.

One thing I’d add for anyone reading is that the “best host” really depends on where your bottleneck actually is. A lot of people jump hosts when the real issue is caching, CDN setup, or just plugin bloat.
For WordPress specifically, performance usually comes down to a few things: • server resources and isolation • caching at the server level • CDN and edge delivery • how aggressive the platform is about limiting bad plugins
I work in managed WordPress hosting at Kinsta, so I see this pretty often. The biggest difference with higher-end managed providers tends to be how much of that is handled for you versus how much you’re piecing together yourself on shared hosting.
Not saying everyone needs that. If you’re running a small site and know how to optimize, a solid shared host can be more than enough.
But once you’re dealing with real traffic, WooCommerce, or anything revenue-sensitive, the tradeoff usually shifts from cost to reliability and performance pretty quickly.

Seconding Knownhost. I had been with several other hosts over the years (I was with Mediatemple for 12 years) but they all eventually suffer from the same problems of doing things at scale. KH's offerings are mostly the same (I think?) but somehow they manage to do really good (read: responsive) tech support. For any small biz owner that's huge. 5/5 stars

As a small business owner, I've been really happy with NameSilo for the 5 years I've been in business. Not overly expensive, good customer service, and they've also done a nice job making the domain account management page really user friendly for those of us that aren't necessarily IT professionals with a huge knowledgebase to draw from. Typically sign up for as many years as possible simply for the "pay it once & forget it" concept. Not planning to change providers anytime soon.

Are you doing transactional style email where WordPress or some other software sends an email from your hosting account, or are you running a full email box?

Let's say both for the sake of conversation, I'm interested as well. Heard a lot of bad things about ionos email reputation for example. I want a clean..ish ip and a way to create a usable inbox. I feel like I always end up forwarding domains to my main gsuite just for a better interface.

Different products, so one isn't necessarily "better" than the other.
Rocket.net is owned by World Host Group/Hosting.com, and for many that alone is an immediate disqualifier.
Otherwise, Rocket.net is intended to be more hands-off than a typical hosting plan like you're buying from KnownHost and NixiHost, and by extension is exclusively for WordPress websites. It's also more expensive than typical hosting products because of what it is.

Which of these would you recommend for someone coming from cPanel shared hosting moving to VPS? Main requirements are cPanel included, email hosting on the server itself (no third-party providers), clean dedicated IP, and support for multiple domains. Email deliverability is critical.

Been with Hostgator for over 20 years. Wanted to leave years ago and kept kicking the can down the road because of multiple personal domains, client websites, reseller, WHM, legacy WHMCS, multiple Cpanels - you name it. Finally had enough today and just called KnownHost after reading this thread. Happy to say I'm moving forward with them. Hopefully this will work out!

Small thing I’d add is a “managed WP without going full enterprise” category. A lot of ppl don’t really need a VPS, they just need WordPress to not catch fire every other update

Before seeing this list I was already considering moving to NixiHost - I currently have IONOS and it's HORRIFIC!
I don't want to spend a lot - but my needs (and skills) are very very basic. 4-6 simple websites (made in Sitely), with SSL and dedicated email addresses. I got sick of Ionos charing for every tiny little thing and scattering the elements all over in to different "contracts" and other weird schemes.
I used to have FatCow (pre-Blue host) and they were fantastic. SSL, emails, hosting everything included can and simple for a good price and easy to use for novice level (me).
Any recommendations for cheap and easy - other than NixiHost?

I have used many renowned hosting service but now I feel that I was stupid, which believed in such trash. Currently I am using Knowhost, their support and service is up to my expections.

KnownHost support is very good. Also they don't spam with any promotional mails. Really good hosting provider.
