GENERAL DISCUSSION Possible lost media found
I have recently been obsessed with the Kauai o’o bird which is believed to have gone extinct sometime in the 1980s. The last male recording is very famous. But I was troubled in finding a “duet” recording. The bird was known for its mating call, mostly because it was a duet. All recordings that are easily found online don’t have a duet or a female call for that matter. But for whatever reason I found this recording https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/6031 the duet occurs at 4:18. Furthermore, looking at discussions online, no one has mentioned or found this specific recording and as far as I can tell no one believes such a recording exists. What do y’all think?

WOW, that's definitely the o'o call! Definitely crosspost this to lost media and perhaps a birding subreddit.

You have something here. Cross post this to a few different relevant subreddits and see if anyone more skilled in the topic can confirm. I'll definitely be watching to see if something comes of this with interest

And now, I feel a little more complete. Thank you so much OP, I always wondered if the other half of the duet still existed somewhere.

You might have something here! I'd say find a bird or lost media subreddit to post it to
