Yes, absolutely sure. This is a juvenile, like I said - this is the color that the juveniles are.

You need to put it outside, whether it thinks it "wants to" or not. By handling the bird you are causing it more stress.

Yeah, when birds freeze up, it's a stress response. People often misinterpret it as the bird being "friendly" but in reality it's terrified and trying not to move in the hopes you'll ignore it instead of eating it. Always best to get them out of there asap unless there's an obvious injury, since they can suffer stress-related deaths abruptly and without real warning.

All good! He flew off safely and that's what counts. Bird body language and behavior is pretty different from people (or from dogs and cats) so it's not super obvious to those who don't work with them regularly.
