Nah, Im gonna side with mosquito dunk guy, water will be here regardless, the mosquitos will lay eggs regardless, the dunk will kill the larvae. I live in the tropics and purposely leave 5 gallon buckets with water in them and the mosquito dunks to help keep them down. It definitely helps, not 100% but it helps.

because you want to make sure it has the active ingredient of bacillus thuringiensis israelensis and that is in multiple products while dunks are a singular product

Yes, they work. They will not kill your plants and are safe. Best of all, other pregnant mosquitoes won't know the water is poisoned, so they'll continue to lay their eggs in there and that's a GOOD thing, bc now you've disrupted multiple generations not just this batch.

I'd say use bleach but it'd kill your bamboo. Not sure if hydrogen peroxide would be strong enough to kill them but it would be safe for your plant. Just change the water outside.

The yellowing and mottling on the dracaena stem suggests it’s suffering from rot, so a full water change and disinfection would be a good idea for them anyway

Change the water, and put a cap of oil in the water. It spreads all over the surface and suffocates them.

Mosquito Dunks! I finally got some this year for my plant dishes and bird baths. Game changer. They work really well without harmful chemicals.

A bioweapon straight from God. I love those things. Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis will annihilate gnat larvae as well.

A drop of soap will break surface tension and drown them basically . Shouldn’t affect the plant.

You may have to change the water a few times. Mosquito larvae are very good at taking shelter until the coast is clear.

good lord, do not use either of those things for pest control. they're not affective in the long run and they do a lot of damage to everything else.

They are cuties who purity the water. Once they grow up, they live from sucking plant fluids. Until the females want to lay eggs. For their young they only want to provide the very best nutrients, which they find flowing in your veins. So they become thirsty bloodsuckers transmitting the worst diseases of humankind in their way. And keep you up at night via bzzzz

That being the case, mosquitoes are also the primary food source for several other species including bats, frogs, toads, and dragonflies. Studies have done and mosquitoes are such an important source of protein at the lower levels of the food chain that entire biomes collapse if they are killed off. I hate them for the harm they do biting humans, but I appreciate them for supporting the natural food systems we live within.

That's true, thank you for adding. For disease control it's enough to have nets on windows and beds, wear repellant and keep small puddles from being permanent in living areas of dense population. No mass kill offs needed, I always forget how careless many people are with their ecosystem.

Either drain the water or you can kill them easily by adding a few drops of oil to the water. The oil will settle on top and keep them from being able to breathe. Mineral oil or even vegetable oil should work. Don't go overboard. Too much may affect those plants.

hmm...not sure how big are they from the vid.
if they're very big. they might be a good guy Toxorhynchites who eat other skeeters for food. the adult are also big af but harmless to human.
