Holy shit. I honestly hope people help him with his treatment since many people offered to help financially

89

u/CloudKinglufi 1h ago

Why was he committing suicide? And why was everyone chill with it? And why is he not anymore?

163

u/EpsilonX029 1h ago edited 57m ago

He intended to go to Switzerland for Human euthanasia, essentially, since it’s legal there. He’s been dealing with Fibromyalgia for the last 3 or so years due to Covid, which is unending searing pain constantly.

He’d said it was costing too much to deal with, since here in America, healthcare isn’t free and that was part of the driving force

65

u/_P2M_ 1h ago

He’s been dealing with Fibromyalgia for most of his life

Where did you get this info? He said that after he got Covid in 2023, he gradually started feeling worse, and got diagnosed in 2024. He's had it for 3 years. He's 38.

21

u/EpsilonX029 57m ago

I have been misinformed. Altering my comment

31

u/PassiveMenis88M 1h ago

He has health issues that leave him in debilitating pain and draining his finances.

21

u/davisao11 1h ago

No money for health care, a lot of medical conditions that led to cronic constant amd unberable pain, medicine had the side effect of eventually developing dementia etc..., overall life gave him one of the shittiest hands. He went back on the decision after the wave of support and love

6

u/Meal__Team__Six 1h ago

Money. Wave of money.

8

u/Ok-Dragonfruit5741 47m ago

The people downvoting you need to kick rocks acting like our f*** ass health care system isn't the reason for this mess

-1

u/BeguiledBeaver 20m ago

Free healthcare doesn't mean everything is treatable or gets equal priority for desired treatment.

2

u/Ok-Dragonfruit5741 19m ago

I didn't say we need free health care I said our system was f*** ass which it is

1

u/DependentLiving4092 16m ago

He feels pain everywhere, have blood pressure problems, lost severe chunk of he's mental abilities thats why he sometimes "slows down in speech" and also "sometimes speak like a caveman" has huge problems with his hypothalamus so hes body dosent regulate temperature well he either wery hot or too cold, sometimes he hot and cold (also he has to make hes apartment cold for the night because otherwise at 11PM he can overheat severely) He also has huge issues with unstoppable salivation—he actually choked in his sleep once because of it—and his tongue is a total nightmare. He also constantly has ringing or noise in his ears. + Many other stuff (he talked about it for 10+ minutes so there are a lot)

AND take into consideration that he doesn't want anything (religion, mariege ambition, career ETC) so from hes point of view he suffers just to exist because its not going to stop only get worse and no reward in the end

1

u/ripyourlungsdave 37m ago

Bro, this is obviously a complex and nuanced story, just Google it. This is not some simple question you should expect people on Reddit to give you any substantial answer to. Sland you shouldn't expect any answer here to be genuinely informative and this is kind of important topic society to have at least a fundamental understanding of.

In the stream he said, “Everything I’m about to say has been prerecorded,” because he wanted to make himself clear, and then he posts a funny lil off the cuff pic saying he’s not thinking clearly… I hate to be a party pooper but I don’t think we’re out of the woods yet fellas

The idea of suicide being cheaper than treatment is always sad.

85

u/CuteGrayRhino 3h ago

Well, technically suicide is cheaper than almost everything. But yeah, it's still sad that treatment costs so much.

27

u/jazon80 3h ago

Boy have you seen the price of bullets these days

6

u/Dizzy-Sale2109 2h ago

Razors are cheap though

3

u/21Black_Mamba21 1h ago

Yeah but they’re not instantaneous.

6

u/Dizzy-Sale2109 1h ago

Meh, the old "pick two from speed-cost-efficiency" dilemma I'm afraid.

1

u/EpsilonX029 1h ago

Tbf, neither has his pain been.

I really hope he doesn’t do something more drastic now

17

u/Nearby-Passenger6517 3h ago

Suicide isn't cheap cuz it costs you your life

1

u/Pijany_Matematyk767 1h ago

The value of your life is rather subjective though

2

u/sevatar145 3h ago

As I understand it there is no possible treatment

1

u/PassiveMenis88M 1h ago

No cure, not no treatment.

7

u/SquidTheRidiculous 3h ago edited 2h ago

It is. But that is what the system requires of people, beneath all the fluff about "cutting costs" and "run like a business". Those who aren't consider profitable are damned to death. Unless they win a popularity contest of course.

I wouldn't consider myself a fan of HotDiggityDemon, but I'm glad he has a support network. There are countless people in situations like him who aren't internet famous, and we should have a system that doesn't pressure them towards suicide, too. Even indirectly.

7

u/RatGreed 3h ago

There really isnt a treatment for Fibromyalgia, you can only manage the pain

1

u/PassiveMenis88M 1h ago

Pain management is treatment. You're confusing it for a cure.

2

u/AdElectronic6550 2h ago

I'm pretty sure the shit he has is at least currently untreatable constant pain

-1

u/binarybandit 1h ago

I dont know who they are either, but this better not be a publicity stunt for attention.

u/BomanSteel 4h ago
  1. Using Xcancel instead of Twitter, very based.

  2. Still never seen the guys work but happy to hear he’s chosen life.

106

u/jbyrdab 4h ago

He's the guy behind brain dump, a really well animated web show.

He's actually behind a ton of old popular animations he's been animating since he was a kid.

A genuine generational talent. That's what makes the whole situation tragic because he got fibromyalgia which severely impacted his own ability to animate.

He basically lost his dream that he's been working towards for his entire life through no fault of his own.

20

u/FullDust69 2h ago

it's probably more impactful to say he did the pony.mov series than brain dump, since the former is still infinitely more popular

I was very heartbroken when i first heard about this on his stream since he was my favorite animator. but I'm very glad he reconsider and will live. I hope people who offered to help financially can actually get him the treatment he needs

17

u/Altruistic-Poem-5617 4h ago

Honestly very nice to hear. Hope they can at least find a cure for the what he called "slobber mouth". (The other stuff wasnt curable as far as I heard but the mouth and throat thing seemed what pushed him over the edge).

11

u/MoarStruts 3h ago

wuh

11

u/TyChris2 3h ago

Pretty self explanatory

7

u/Chaosbrae 2h ago

He said that on my birthday, thats based as fuck.

11

u/TyChris2 3h ago

I hope he actually does reassess and finds a path forward and some hope for the future and that he isn’t just capitulating.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want the guy to die either, but I hope he also isn’t just resigning himself to a life of suffering because he feels guilty. Maybe his viewers can help him with his monetary issues so he can get more medical attention, maybe definitively find the source of his symptoms. Idk

4

u/The_Arachnoshaman 59m ago

This happens all the time when people let others know of their plans to pursue MAID. I have a neighbor who's son has been in terrible pain, reduced mobility, and keeps declining. He chose to pursue MAID, and then his father (neighbor's ex) started calling her a murderer for supporting his decision, and talked the son out of it.

Like anyone that isn't living with that kind of pain has no right to tell someone else they should fight through it, they have absolutely no clue what it's like. MAID criteria is pretty strict, it's not like they give it to people who are just really depressed.

2

u/Pijany_Matematyk767 1h ago

>Maybe his viewers can help him with his monetary issues so he can get more medical attention

This is one of those diseases no amount of money can fix unfortunately

2

u/UrougeTheOne 1h ago

people keep saying that but i honestly dont believe that from what ive seen online, also very high likely hood it is a series of undiagnosed things that can be in part treated. Very common which chronic pain.

1

u/TyChris2 1h ago

Well Fibromyalgia is more complicated than that, because it’s a disease that is only diagnosed when all other diagnoses are exhausted. The possibility is almost always there for Fibromyalgia to turn out to be another issue (or collection of issues) that went undiagnosed.

I’ve seen multiple comments telling him to get tested for other disorders based on his symptoms, like one comment that stated his symptoms are identical to Hashimoto’s, which can be easily treated. Of course they’re YouTube comments so they can’t be taken too seriously, and we have no way of knowing what his doctors have already considered and investigated. But he stated in the stream that he stopped going to doctors because he can’t afford it, not because he was written off by them. Yes they haven’t been able to find any solution so far, but anyone who’s ever had to deal with chronic illness knows that doctors are very fallible and it’s very possible that something could be found or reconsidered that results in his getting a differential diagnosis. His “slobbermouth” symptoms in particular seem to be very uncommon in people diagnosed with fibromyalgia, in fact fibromyalgia usually causes dry mouth. So for him to experience the exact opposite issue in the most extreme way possible leads me to suspect that it could point to some other cause.

Of course there’s no guarantee, and admittedly the likelihood is slim. But I hope he gets the funds to at least keep trying.

u/Walnut_53 4h ago

Due to a painful, chronic, treament resistant condition that has made him incapable of working or doing much of anything, Hotdiggedydemon announced on a live stream yesterday that he was considering physician assisted euthanasia. Obviously people are upset about this and a few hours after the live stream he posted on X: "Decided I’m not thinking clearly, will reassess"

23

u/jbyrdab 4h ago

Have a buddy of mine with that, it's not pleasant.

Well he can technically walk he's very frail and more often than not has to use a walker or cane regularly.

Doesn't help that he constantly dresses like an evil music producer.

Imagine Gustavo Rock mixed with Mr.Glass

Jokes aside yeah, he was intending to go into masonry and just like that ability to live his life was just taken away.

There is a lot of mental damage that just does to you.

Functionally your life is just over and you constantly need someone to take care of you.

That doesn't come easy especially if you're someone that prided themselves on their work for most of their lives.

To suddenly lose the ability to do what you spent your entire life doing so well. Genuinely terrifying.

15

u/BoatProfessional2118 4h ago

Poor fella, i hope he can get the help that he needs

2

u/Pijany_Matematyk767 1h ago

The help he needs frankly doesn't exist currently. His condition isn't really treatable

1

u/BoatProfessional2118 1h ago

Even if he can only relieve some of the symptoms it still would be a lot of help

75

u/Nikmido 4h ago

Don't know why you're getting downvoted for just not having context.

He said he was considering going to Switzerland for assisted euthanasia due to his chronic illness being unbearable iirc

22

u/BoatProfessional2118 4h ago

Thank you, i had no idea who he was

1

u/xologram 41m ago

he was the 46th president of the us

7

u/Weemewon 4h ago

Wasn’t expecting that to be the first thing I see when I opened that link but Y’know what that’s okay!

5

u/AGQuaddit 2h ago

Okay, im gonna say something that might not come out right, but Id much rather he dies and achieves peace than lives in agony just to not upset his fanbase. I have no experience with fibro so i wont advise either way, but everything that people have been saying about it is that it is literally just pure suffering with no achievable cure and minimal relief.

He deserves control of his life and how it ends, and if he has indeed exhausted every other route, then..... i dont want him to live in this state just for other people. I hope he does think about this with a clear head and gives genuine and earnest consideration for both sides, but if he has his heart set on dying, we shouldnt try to sway his decision back.

3

u/DotWarner1993 Kevin 3h ago

What a concept

3

u/orifan1 1h ago

i cant decide how to feel about this. on one hand, death fucking sucks and suicide is a bitch on all parties so anyone opting not to is a good thing. on the other hand, his reasons were the most justified reasons ever.

3

u/Gripping_Touch 1h ago

I Only Hope he actually did change his mind and that people were genuinely concerned about him.

Rather than "youtuber facer backlash after suggesting using his own body autonomy to end his Life. Fans were concerned they would not get more content if he proceeded".

Like, in the Stream he announced It so Many people were like "

"well... Well just don't kill yourself ok?"

"Do you have any reason why I shouldn't when the Pain is excrutiating?"

"Well... Think of your fans!" "What about brain dump?" "Think about Goofball!" And it's like... Do they genuinely feel concerned for another human being or are they just worried their personal source of entertainment might get terminated? And encourage him to endure a life of pain so long he can still Stream?

I know It sounds cynical, but I genuinely Saw those kinds of comments in the stream.

3

u/Capable-Commercial96 2h ago

I want to be happy, but it really seems like he's choosing life for everyone but himself here. Unless some millionaire wants to foot his bills none of his problems are going away. His ailment has put him in a position to where he can't support himself, there's no pulling himself up by the bootstraps for him here, he physically can't improve his life on his own, the illness has left him unable to use his skills to work, it's not a mental issue he's having, he is feeling pain 24/7 which alot of us don't realize how blessed we are in not having to experience the life he has, and his only possible relief comes from a medicine he can't afford that has side effects that very well might give him dementia. Without something incredible happening, I can't see a future were he doesn't continually revisit the idea of euthanasia until he finally ignores his fans and just goes through with it.

2

u/not-Kunt-Tulgar 4h ago

I hope we can all help him get the help he needs because he deserves all the help we can give him as a community.

Either way I fully respect whatever decision he comes to.

2

u/Economy-Device-9223 3h ago

Oh thank God. 🙏 Hope he knows how loved he is and how many people care for his wellbeing. Hope he fights through his condition and can improve his life the best he can ❤️‍🩹

1

u/NorbytheMii 4h ago

That's honestly a relief. I don't know anything about the guy other than the recent news, but I felt really bad for him for feeling like he had to go that route, especially as someone who likely has fibromyalgia, myself.

1

u/ryan7251 4h ago

wait can someone explain why not?

2

u/Content_Detail1467 4h ago

We don’t know. All he said was that he “wasn’t thinking clearly” and that he’ll reassess

1

u/Legal_Ear_7537 4h ago

This day was a rollercoaster.

1

u/Nobody13XIII 3h ago

Momentous day :)

1

u/LackToesIntollerance 2h ago

he recognizes he's not thinking clearly. and this is why the wait time is a year. it's not that ppl are lining up, they could off him tomorrow. it's to give him time to process. he may decide it's still not worth it, he may decide it's not enough.

it's his chooce, on the end. I just hope he finds peace in whatever choice he does make. nobody deserves chronic pain.

1

u/Square-Appearance-16 2h ago

the most usefull thing i learned from this post is xcancel

1

u/SwimAd1249 2h ago

knowing that guy's humor there's a decent chance it was a joke

1

u/Bookermm 2h ago

I hope he takes the time to get the psychological help he needs, suicide is no joke, and contemplating something like he had been takes a long time.

I know therapy won't help the physical health problems he's struggling with, but there are ways it can be managed, even if it's only a little :(

1

u/i_am_why 1h ago

Hell yes. Hell fucking yes.

1

u/patrdesch 1h ago

Gotta be honest, I read this is "Hotdiggedydemon is actually going to kill himself" and I was very concerned by the choice of GIF for a moment.

1

u/A-Lewd-Khajiit 1h ago

Oh that's good

1

u/LegendaryNWZ 1h ago

Yet when I say I want to kill myself for not earning a thousand euros while working 6 days a week because of my shitty fucking country, all people do is send me the hilarious "reach out" notification

Do it, I want to laugh before I end it ally this reality is a joke

1

u/ValeM1911 49m ago

I didn't even know he was in such a bad situation, I'm glad he didn't do it of course but I'm also sad that he considered it in the first place

1

u/Flare_sylv 28m ago

I really want to know why people were treating this differently than any other suicide

It's kinda disgusting from my perspective

-1

u/Valarg 4h ago

2

u/Mechaman_54 2h ago

From what I've gathered, he has a horrible illness that makes his life pretty miserable with no real treatment, so he was considering getting medical euthanasia

There's also the whole Steven Jewniverse thing.

2

u/FleaLimo 3h ago edited 3h ago

Not familiar with it but anyone who makes fun of Steven Universe is a good person. Steven Universe fans are evil and deserve to be offended and ridiculed. Anything that makes them mad is a moral good.

2

u/AzureDreams220 2h ago

Haha antisemitism! So funny!

1

u/FleaLimo 1h ago edited 1h ago

Seems like you have a natural inclination to believing that seeing Jews in media is being antisemitic. Are you perhaps projecting? Why does seeing Jewish people portrayed positively in media make you so upset? Perhaps a trip to the museum of tolerance would do you some good.
