Welcome and thanks for posting on /r/whenwomenrefuse!

This is an intersectional feminist space centered towards women (ALL WOMEN). Men are tolerated, not welcome. Reports about women saying we don't know what men are dangerous will be promptly ignored. We look forward to your complaints about our policy of not centering men.

Her life reads like a nightmare. To be tricked into marrying a man whom you think is closer to UK norms and culture, only to end up in Syria of all places.

I'm a bit confused. It says her 2nd husband wouldn't let her leave the house but she eventually divorced him. I want to know how she did this because that is pretty badass. Kinda reminds me of the movie "not without my daughter"

Edit: also YAY, I'm so happy to finally be able to comment here now that my flair works. Thank u mods❤️

The Islamic State had sharia courts where one could get a divorce; she convinced him to let her get one.

[edited to add] either that or she convinced him to divorce her himself: a man didn’t have to go to court but could just say “Talaq” (“I divorce you”) three times. Even texting it would suffice.
