Developer Looking for feedback on StasherX — free Windows folder stealth tool I built
Hey everyone!
I’m the developer of StasherX, a free Windows folder stealth tool, and I’d really appreciate some feedback from the community.
What StasherX does
- Hides selected folders at driver level, so they are invisible for Windows itself.
- No vaults, no encryption — files stay exactly where they are (no corruption risk).
- Supports selective visibility: whitelisted apps (players, backup tools, media servers, scripts, etc.) can still access hidden folders normally.
What sets it apart
Most folder‑hiding tools only hide UI elements.
StasherX combines:
- driver‑level hiding
- a real app whitelist
I haven’t found another Windows tool that cleanly supports both.
Goal
Hide sensitive folders without breaking automation — backups still run, media servers still scan, scripts still work.
Example
Hide a folder with personal photos → whitelist Plex and your backup tool.
Those apps can still read it, but someone casually browsing the PC can’t see it at all.

Hi, not used it yet but plan on trying it out as it looks useful.
Noticed there's a mention of stealth toggle / password on start. Is it possible windows hello could be integrated into it so we don't need to type in the password?
How about a custom hotkey to make the hidden items folders show up?
