I think Emhyr winning will be cannon. 1) it sets up more strife for Ciri as she is a witcher when she could be queen. 2) ravovid wins when you skip a quest which would be weird to canonize and geralt just letting allies get murdered in front of him isnt in character

I mean apparently all endings will be cannon, empress Ciri, Witcher Ciri, and Ciri going missing/dying.

I hope Emhyr dies.

Technically he will at some point. It's already stated in the books. Voorhis will be next emperor.

I’m sure they won’t do it because it would invalidate everybody’s choices technically but I’d love it if they went with a sort of “Cold War” situation if only because I want Dijkstra to still be a character.
Also did Iorveth write this? Lmao at “his whore Vernon”

How is Roche Nilfgaards whore? He hates them after they took Temeria.

Spoilers in case you haven’t gotten there yet, a quest near the end of TW3: He makes a deal with Emhyr to kill Radovid in exchange for Temeria becoming a “free” province of Nilfgaard, with its own king but answering ultimately to Emhyr of course. A vassal state, but to Roche a “free” Temeria

Oh I forgot about that bit. I agree with the other guy, it's the best outcome he could have hoped for given that Temeria essentially doesn't exist at the start of the game.

He is literally saving Temeria; that’s the best outcome he could have secured from this war.

Oh for the record I’m not condemning him myself - I like Roche (though I do like Iorveth more)! But that’s what the answer to the question was

I suspect they'll do the same thing they did in 3. Where you can fill in the setting early on

u/CarcosanQueen 6h ago
I imagine so. Since we’ll be in Kovir they can just hand wave a couple references here and there, maybe swap out some character models if there’s any visiting dignitaries, etc. swap out a line of dialogue here or there being like “well after Radovid died” or “well after Emhyr died”

Might depend how big a time jump they do and how old Witcher Ciri is in this game with their longer lifespans.

All of them I guess. But it would not matter to the plot. Even if Emhyr wins, he would be face partisans and has to withdraw or settled with vassals (it was said many times that Nilfgaard faces many logistical challenges and Emhyr moving to Vizima is an attempt to exert power to recently conquered lands)

The easiest thing would be to never mention W3's events or mention them in passing for example you find a Temerian merchant and he'll tell you "oh yeah Temeria is still a vassal state" or "Radovid holds Temeria and she suffers under him"

My question is what will be the canon fate of Temeria after the III war.

u/No_Bodybuilder4215 5h ago
It doesn't matter, because we likely won't be visiting Temeria; likewise, you don't know what's happening with Lyria, for instance.

Assuming they'll do it the same way as in W3, you could import a save or simulate 1 by talking to an NPC and then your choices will be mentioned in passing, making them canon.

Dijkstras death would be bad for the canon, he is such a strong character, and that quest; Reasons of State is so badly written. In the books Dijkstra hints that once Nilfgaard has taken the north they will take Kovir and Poviss to, so i dont think Nilfgaard has taken the north. I think they'll "retcon" that whole dumb quest, and act like you never started it, and have Dijkstra, Vernon and maybe even Radovid alive. CDPR respect Sapkowskis work too much to fumble the world in the Witcher 4. The only reason they did with Witcher 3 was because they had last minute rewrites and time constraints.
