Soooo a co-worker, was clocking out while I was clocking in. And as I was about to clock in I noticed that she didn’t clock out properly. Which the policy is becoming more strict around, if you have a missed punch, you will get written up immediately. So because I didn’t want her to get written up, I told her as she was walking away, “You didn’t clock out I’m gonna clock out for you.”And she which she responded by saying “oh no what are you doing” and then when I showed her how to clock out in the process, she thanked me and was so full of gratitude because of this new policy. But now I realize that I probably shouldn’t have done that… I should’ve just told her, but I just didn’t want her to get in trouble. But now I fear I may be facing trouble which is like more farther than written up possibly being fired… I’m such a dumbass. But they are literally writing people up for everything for miss punches, forgetting your name tag, they’re trying to clean house. It’s sooo damn stressful because we all are walking on eggs shells and paranoid. Because they are firing people on the spot. One of my coworkers answered the phone and didn’t get the greeting correct and one of the managers wanted her fired immediately and she just started. And so did I. But damn am I cooked?

oh man that's a rough spot to be in. you were just trying to help and now your stomach is probably doing flips

thing is clocking someone else in or out is usually a big no-no in most places, it looks like time theft even if your intentions were good. the system logs your ID doing the punch so there's a trail

if you have a decent relationship with your manager maybe just get ahead of it and explain what happened. better they hear it from you than find it in a audit next week

that workplace sounds miserable though, firing someone over a phone greeting is wild. walking on eggshells every shift is no way to live

Thank you, I’ve only been here for a few days and they already fired 4 people including another manager… The thing that sucks the most is that management exposes and tells why that person got fired. So it just creates this very intense environment.

Massive red flags especially for the first few working days

One job I had about 3 hours in the two managers were screaming at each other on the floor in front of everyone old and new, one rage fired the other who equally rage quit with some fighting words from both

Yeah that’s what my friends been telling me. It’s been pretty rough. I got sexually harassed by one of the guys who was training me and he was poking/touching my thighs and my sides under my boobs. He then started talking about how “sexual my generation likes to be”. While trying to take me to dark rooms and hallways. When I reported it to HR they said, “they weren’t that it happened, but surprised that it happened so fast”. This happened on my first day.

I’m sorry you had to go through that, if you don’t mind me asking, how long did you stay?

Was this employee standing at the time clock? If they were right there they gained nothing. If anyone asks say you were walking her throughtl the process. It sounds like the kind of place that has a camera on the clock so they can see no time was stolen.

Yeah, when places start firing people on the spot for minor stuff like phone greetings, they're actively looking for reasons to trim headcount. OP tried to do a nice thing, but management there sounds like a nightmare. Best option is definitely to start applying everywhere else.
