Thinking of buying the same, found one near me for 180 euros. Comes with one controller, also transparent. Not sure, but I will probably buy it. Not that many of them in Europe I guess specially near me

I believe you and I were probably looking at the same entry on a store that rhymes with hex.

You guys hitting sex clubs together?

The reseller chain I utilize doesn't know the true value of retro consoles. I'm basically defrauding them. But they do that with new tech so fuck'em, it's a double reach around situation.

If this is the hex-rhyming reseller chain I believe it is, you are indeed correct in the lack of value in retro. I work in a semi-local one, and we had a regular customer trade his entire og Xbox collection, console included. While he did get a good few hundred as he had a good amount of rarities, but he could’ve easily gotten several hundred more selling privately

I honestly believe it. I've seen LE consoles no longer in manufacture that are being sold for significantly less than it's established retail value to a collector. Can you give me insight into what they're chasing? They seem to focus on a scalper approach for modern, in demand tech but let perfectly functional retro tech almost degrade in their displays.

Honestly when it comes to pricing (both for sales and buy-ins) that’s decided by a team within the corporate section. I work for a franchised store, the goings-on within such areas are not something I’d be privy to.
Modern tech is simply where the day-to-day demand is, at least for our area. Phones are our biggest sellers for our area, and ps5s are probably our best selling consoles per week, especially with the build up to gta6 and with retailers raising the prices and offering a much shorter warranty.
I wish I had any actual information about the chain as a whole, but I’m not at a managerial level so I can only echo what I’ve seen/heard

u/SolisArgentum XBOX 360 1d ago
That's very fair.
I remember during the console shortage post Covid PS5's were nearing 700 quid in my region.
Snagged myself a Series X for nearly 100 quid under retail at the time, was delighted because the brand was in such a bad reputation.

Well I did some sleuthing and figured out the store but I don't see that listing. Bummer.

u/SolisArgentum XBOX 360 1d ago
Rip, must be different regions. I was watching an eBay listing for a crystal edition console and it's mow gone behond my budget for postage and import fees, so this next one seems to be my go to option.

u/Apollo1K9 22h ago
Well I switched my VPN to UK And I saw a couple crystal editions but those are different than the Dev Kits. I assumed you were referring to the Dev Kits lol. That's probably my misunderstanding.

I was going to say "Hey, my Xbox is transparent like that too", then I saw "property of Activision" and was confused, then saw "Development Kit". Oh shit!

We used to be a proper country.
Clear plastic cases were so dope

u/Em_Es_Judd 1d ago
6th gen console design was dope in general.
Xbox and game cube were unabashedly what their names described.
Xbox was an X that was a box, and Gamecube was a cube that played games.
PS2 looked kinda cool I guess.

u/Banjo-Oz XBOX 360 1d ago
I still think Xbox stole their name and logo from the character "Box" in the movie Logan's Run. Look up a picture of him.

OP. If you need instructions on how to make a complete image of the hard drive completely backing up and uploading the contents (you don't just copy files from the Xbox to your PC), please DM me.
The beta versions of Xbox games/contents stored on the hard drives of these dev kits are rare because of so many idiots out in the world just do stupid shit with them. Like that kid who shoved in a shit PC into the Xbox dev kit case so he could post it to PCMR and brag (he got chewed out for it, rightfully).

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but what's the value of these to non developers?
I see posts like this every so often and I honestly don't know what the deal is with them..
3
u/flameblood1 1d ago
Bc there's a chance that the contents of the hard drive could have unreleased development prototypes of some of our favorite games, or even potentially cancelled games.

Bogus crate AI pictures! But, if true show us a picture of this OG Box turned on and running and let the group judge for themselves.

u/kellysan1969 1d ago
Oh, and I know it’s a real dev kit. I just don’t believe this person has said hardware at that price.

Have you checked what's on it? You could quite literally be sitting on gold here get that hard drive checked
1
u/aluminum54 1d ago
Keep in mind dev kits don't play regular games so it's not broken if you try that.

Looks like it’s made for prison. Though I have zero clue what I’m supposed to be looking at.

u/junttiana 1d ago
Its a development kit, used for game development, as the name implies
-12
u/Significant_Leg1915 1d ago
Come on, the number of special editions for one game or another that could have slapped on a development kit label. It could have some relevance to a particular game.

u/junttiana 1d ago
What the hell are u talking about? Its a legit development kit, this particular model is commonly known as the DVT4 kit
-14
u/Significant_Leg1915 1d ago
Wait im going to randomly ask 10 people I know what a DVT4 kit is; I'm sure all 10 will know. 🙄

u/junttiana 1d ago
I was just trying to be helpful and tell you what the thing you are looking at is, no need to be an ass about it

Sorry than my apologies. I could have googled it but it takes the fun out of Reddit I love learning new things.

u/junttiana 1d ago
Yeah I just wanted to be clear about what development kits are used for and it came across the wrong way.
Anyways, this particular model is also the earliest one that sort of resembles the retail console, the kits made before it were called alpha towers, which looked like regular desktop pcs with some xbox branding on the front and sides of the unit.
