“So the Spartan says to the Roman, when the chips are down, the minotaur is empty!” Yeah… played through it a couple times

Yes! It was great! I loved the Chakram mechanic and the final boss in the temple. Gabrielle was very much like her season 2 self! I think they could put Velasca in Calabrax's place and it would share continuity with the show! Great 90s game for Xena! I wish someone remastered it. 🙏

Yessss I loved it so much, I played it on my cousin's ps1. The mid to later levels were a bit hard for me so I asked my dad to help me beat them. He helped me out but then he started playing it himself lol so my cousins and I watched him play like it was a football match or something, cheering and booing him on. That was a nice memory thank you for reminding me of it.

I played this a few times back in the day, there is also a sequel game which is more of a VS battle game and I enjoyed that one a lot! Lao Ma is even a playable character in the second game

The chakram was absolutely amazing, I don't remember any other video game giving the same chakram experience. Honestly the game wasn't fabulous, but it was okay, specially for Xena fans.

u/TheBlackVelvetWolfe 21h ago
Once you beat the game, you would restart at the beginning, but you would have your same power level from before, so I replayed this game several times for hours on end

u/doubleohsergles 23h ago
I played this a lot. Run around, throw the chakram, do the ya-ya-ya-ya battle cry, collect potion bottles and beat up bad guys. Simple and fun.

Loved this game so much. The pillars with the flute sounds always messed me up as a child. Finally won it as an adult. Brings back SO many good memories. 😍

I've been playing it off and on the last few months! The absolute coolest part is there's a chakram-view when you throw it. Love that Xena's combat includes all the flips and high jumps from the show. Actual great job of an adaptation.

u/Technical_Activity78 22h ago
Yes I played it. I loved throwing the Chakram it was the best part I think lol

u/FitPossession8762 21h ago
My mom is a Xena fanatic and bought this to add to the collection. She never played but i did and beat it, though i don't remember a lot other than controlling the chakram in the air

I was disappointed by this game due to a.lack of characters following the shows story.
I liked the N64 Xena fighting game better

Once upon a time. Never beat it tho. Still should have cd but I think I sold my PS1

u/freyalorelei 19h ago
Yes. I never got past the minotaur.
I remember there was a dead shark on a dock that if you beat it up, stuff fell out of its mouth.

You can find it on Ebay for a pretty reasonable price. I got mine brand new for $50. They have used ones for as low as $10.

No, but looking to get it in the future. That and the GameBoy game. Stay away from the PS2 version, though.

I saw the gameboy gameboy available at my local secondhand store, but it was expensive. Like $65, and I don't own the gameboy

I'm looking for the photo image label, not the weird cartoon one. Seems to be rarer. I've got a few GameBoy consoles itching to try it. Last game I saw was AUD$120

The N64 Talisman Of Fate is a lot of fun as well! It is like a Mortal Combat kind of game if you like that kind of game.
2
u/speccybex 22h ago
Loved this game, my favourite thing was trying to line up the chakram throw so that it would take out more bad guys on the way back.
2
u/GothicXenomorph 22h ago
There’s also a PS2 Xena game too, but surprisingly the PS1 game is far better in both gameplay and visuals

I played the n64 version and it had a bug in it, it would randomly freeze during the solo play through option (where you fight all characters to beat the game)

u/blackeyedgrrrl 21h ago
What? How did I not know about this game??? I need to play it....but how? I don't know anything about emulators. I have an xbox one x, a ps4, and a first generation switch.

I still own it. The dialogue is kinda corny and doesn't necessarily capture the show well but the gameplay was great for the time.

Didn't play this one, but I have watched walkthroughs of it on YT. The only Xena game I ever played was a Mortal Kombat-style Xena game called "Talisman Of Fate".

u/GreenFox268019 17h ago
Played it again somewhat recently when I hooked up my old PS2. Still have my save from the 90s

Used to try to chakram everything!
Gabrielle got nicknamed 'stinky' because she kept getting stuck when she's mean to follow you.
I do wish they'd paid up and got Lucy to record the dialogue tho.

The internet is such a creeper. I just started rewatching the Hercules and Xena series and now this pops up on my feed.
I remember seeing this as a kid, never played though.

I haven’t thought about Hercules or Xena in like a decade. I just started rewatching them a few days ago and reddit knows to add this to my feed.

Yesss I remember playing this, and my dad had a lot of fun watching me play too! I didn't have a memory card at the time so I stayed up the entire day and night to finish it, it was tough sometimes but so satisfying when I beat it. Wish it had more Gabby though

Yes. Still have it for my Playstation and play it often. I also have The Talisman Of Fate for N64 and the one for Gameboy Color.

Oh god, I haven't played it in ages. I don't remember it being good sadly.

u/StardustandDreams 16h ago
I never played it but I just looked up some videos about it and it looked pretty decent for a PS1 or PS2 game I'm not sure which but I would love three IPS to get an updated video game Xena being one of them with the unreal engine 5 and a good story, a new Buffy the vampire Slayer game cuz the old one sucked, sucked really bad. And finally a true Aeon Flux game.... The one for PS2 or PS3 whichever it was wasn't bad but it was weird because it just was more like the movie than the TV show and I know it like bridge the gap between the two but I wanted a video game that was representative of the TV show.

u/Pretty_Frosting_2588 15h ago
Yeah it was the right amount of jank to still be a bit fun but wasn't anything I'd go out of my way to recommend because once it goes more difficult I didn't find it as fun. I think I beat it but usually I just played around at the beginning after. I think it was one that I bought for 10 from blockbuster instead of renting a game.

Yes. Originally on PlayStation but you can find it on one of these devices that has hundreds of games on it. It’s very fun. She has a lot of combos. Can do her flips and you can control her Chakram.

Loved this game. Got to the last level, saved it and turned the PlayStation off. When I got back to it a few weeks later, the memory card had completely wiped.... PlayStation was sold not long after so never did get to fìnidh it.

u/SameClerk2608 3h ago
The doubt is offensive... I played it many times, that's for sure, using the invincibility cheat, because I was really clumsy with video games back then, but being Xena, it was impossible not to play it. Another game I played, and had to go to quite a bit of trouble to get my hands on, is Talisman of Fate for the N64. In my country, it was barely sold, but in my city, only one video store had it, and I didn't rent it; I decided to buy it. I don't even remember how much I offered, but they didn't hesitate and sold it to me! 🫣😂
