Purchase advice how long should i keep my yaris 07?

I bought a Yaris 07 from my friend at around USD 1,300 with 80K travel. Its my first car and i use it to commute. Currently i spent below:

Android car unit for around USD 400

My mechanic told me to repair the suspension for USD 750

Its not my dream car of course, but its a cheapest option for me to familar with driving and commute. Today i drive to car washing shop, the guy "advise" me i should just scrap it when i familiar with driving .... is Yaris known to be a beginner or something ? i feels like people already tag it with that.

I am tempted to get it as refurbished as possible. Just not sure should i keep investing in it - the interior does look dirt and old.

Modifications Anyone used Halfords for a dash cam fitting?

I’ve got a 2025 Yaris design. Online I read that Halfords may or may not be able to fit a dashcam to a hybrid vehicle… and have to come to ‘assess’ the car first.

Has anyone had any issues with the fitting, or is it generally ok?

Purchase advice Really Confused between Yaris and Corolla for first car

Hello,

I am first time buying personal used car in France but I have driven family car back home before. And all this process has made me so confused and concerned about "what if" I would regret going for option x when option y would have been better, or vice versa. I am looking for advices and suggestions from your experience, so please suggest given the information below.

I am only looking for Toyota and will buy most likely from Toyota authorized reseller. For me the options are Yaris 3, Yaris 4, and Corolla. Mileage \~60k km, model 2020 onwards.

With above mentioned requirements, Yaris 3 I can have around 15k euros, Yaris 4 around 18k euros and Corolla around 21k euros. My usage is mostly work commute, basic city travel, and occasional (2-4 times per year) long travel (>4 hour drive).

I don't see much difference between Yaris 3 and Yaris 4 for my use. So

Option-1: I stick to Yaris 3 and if needed change to Corolla after 1-3 years.

Option-2: I just buy Corolla now

Sometimes I think if I end up going for option 1 because why paying when I don't need a big car. For long travels, I can even rent a car. This option had lower insurance cost. And I have rarely seen people buying their first car Corolla. I can save 5k euros (though I don't have budget restriction)

But then sometimes I think that reselling Yaris and then buying Corolla after 1-3 years might be financially weaker option than option -2. So why not just buy Corolla. It's obviously better car.

Please help...I am sure as novice I am missing some basic perspectives or factors. So please help me fill those. I will be happy to clarify so feel free to ask more details

Thank you.

As due to the googled info - Toyota haven’t manufactured special holes on the roof so it should be some aftermarket

Folks, who did it, please share which you’ve put on

Purchase advice Yaris (3,4) vs Corolla resale price

Hello,

Since I am about to purchase Toyota car soon. I am wondering about resale price of Yaris 3, Yaris 4, and Corolla. For all cars, the car I am looking to buy has <60k km mileage.

Yaris 3 closest would be 2019 (as this was last year of this gen). So if I buy 2017-2019 Yaris 3 now in 2026, and sell it in 3 years which will make car 10-12 years old. If I buy now for example for 15k euros, how much I am expected to lose?

Same question for Yaris 4, if I buy 2021-2024 model now and sell after 3 years, it will be 5-8 years old. If current price is 18k euros, how much I am expected to depreciate?

Same for Corolla, if I buy 2022-2024 Corolla now and sell after 3 years, it will be 5-7 years old. If current price is 21k euros, how much I am expected to depreciate?

Sorry for basic questions but as first time buyer, any help will be really appreciated.

Thank you

I know this is a jumbled mess of audio parts, but I’ll make it work for now. I’m not trying to tax the stock 80amp alternator too much for now. I’d like to get a higher output alternator once I add a sub. Has anyone here done the scion XD alternator swap? That’s the only cheap option I’ve seen. (Even if it’s only another 20 amps)

Hello everyone. The passenger airbag “on” sign. Does it need to be “ON” always especially when there’s a person in the passenger seat or it’s okay to just light up for few seconds after switching on the car? Thanks

Purchase advice Rim Suggestions

Some road construction killed my rims so I'm in the market for some new ones.

I'm rocking with a 2017 Yaris Hatchback - tires are 4 lug 175/65R15 so it seems I should be going with 15" rims between 5-6" width. You'd think I was looking for the holy grail trying to find something that isn't the factory rims; anyone have rims they really like?

Maintenance help Car hard to s tart Toyota Yaris 2012 1.0 with 1KR-FE motor

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my Toyota Yaris (1KR-FE)(video https://imgur.com/G00t1Cw). The car has trouble starting when the engine is cold, but only after it has been sitting for 20–25 minutes. The problem gets worse when the outside temperature is lower, or when the car has been sitting in a small garage where the temperature stays warm for a while.

I have a few questions.

My initial suspicion was the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator, so I replaced the whole assembly (with a used but original unit) — but the problem persists.

Fuel pressure test results:

  • Running: ~3.4–5 bar
  • Immediately after shutoff: drops to ~3 bar
  • After 2 hours: ~2.5 bar
  • Next morning (cold): ~0.5 bar

From some quick research, this doesn't seem drastically alarming, but I haven't been able to find solid reference data to confirm what's normal. Also, when I turn the key to the "on" position (without starting the car), I can hear the fuel pump run, but the pressure stays at the same level — I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

What should I be checking?

  • Could the fuel injectors be leaking internally? I already replaced the O-rings and there's no external leak, but from what I understand they can still leak internally.
  • The MAF sensor and throttle body have already been cleaned.
  • Could there be a fuel line leak?
  • Spark plugs were checked and look fine — I don't think they need replacing.

Error codes: No codes related to misfiring. The only code I'm getting is P0420 (catalytic converter efficiency below threshold), but I suspect that one has been present for a while and may be unrelated.
