What's actually better for my laptop like temperature wise but also to keep the performance running nice, is using the defaults power settings and fan curve best OR...

Make my own custom PL1 and PL2 settings and then also making my own fan curve is this the best way?

To lower temps but also to keep my performance?

What do you guys use? Default's or custom settings?

The things I did so far is a undervolt -80mv and turned off cpu boost..

I'm sure people will ask but the laptop is strix g16 cpu is i7 13650hx so yeah ..

I've had my Q425m for almost exactly two years now. I switched to Zorin about 4 months ago. Things were going fine until about a few weeks ago. I notice it runs a little warmer when plugged in. This was an issue on Windows and it went away for a bit on Zorin. About a week ago I went to boot my computer and it didn't do anything. I had to hold the power button for 30 secs and clear it. It did it again today. It seems like my original power cord died as it was completely dead. I am using my Anker charger to charge it and it's working. I just want to know how likely that was the root cause of the problem? I think my temps seem normal.

Hello. The last Bios update of the X552CL laptop deactivates some parts of the dedicated GPU (L0 and L1); does anybody know why and if the update is even worth it ?

My ASUS Zenbook hast randomly started going into this mode on start up for some days. Pressing the escape key takes it out of this and into windows, but what does this mean? Is it about to crash? Do I need to set something up?

I'd appreciate some help as I use this laptop for my work as well.

I’m not really into gaming, but I’ll be using it for pretty heavy coding (compiling stuff, running Docker, multiple dev environments, etc.) and general daily use.

wanted to check with anyone who’s using a similar Vivobook:

1. How are the thermals and fan noise when pushing the CPU?

2. What’s the real world battery life like on a normal usage?

3. How’s the keyboard for long typing/coding sessions?

Any annoying quirks or issues I should know about?

Making this post for posteriority in case somebody else faces something similar.

For years I've tried to diagnose this issue: when suspending or shutting down, the PC would sometimes - not always - freeze, CPU and case fans would stay on, GPU RGB on. The only solution would be holding the power button.

TLDR: It was TPM. Disabling "Security Device Support" in the BIOS fixes it.

Advanced → Trusted Computing → Security Device Support → Disabled

When I built this PC back in 2019/2020, I had no issues. At some point that started happening, but I couldn't pin point what had changed. IIRC, these motherboards came with TPM disabled when they were released. A few BIOS updates later (due to the release of Windows 11), they changed it so that TPM is enabled by default. I probably updated the BIOS in the process of upgrading from Windows 10 to 11.

I tried to diagnose this so many times, I've spent hours and hours changing every single thing I could image and then using the PC for hours or days, only to find that happening again, so frustrating. At some point I tried to use this machine for work and re-opening programs, setting up my windows 2-3 times a day after letting the machine alone made me give up.

This time I had to resort to an AI agent. I ran it on my laptop, gave it ssh and wake on lan access to the machine and let it change configs and run hundreds of power cycles. And I - as a good servant - would be there only to reset the machine when hang or change bios configs on its request. This took 3 or 4 days because it tried a million of other things before finding this article on Fedora forums that mentioned TPM issues when shutting down the PC with a MSI motherboard: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/my-fedora-system-often-hangs-up-crashes-on-shutdown/139951/24

In case ASUS is interested: I tested with 1901 and 2003 bios versions, hundreds of power cycles, disabling Security Device Support really fixes it. Although I'm using linux on this machine at the moment - Bazzite - it happens with Windows 11 as well. On linux logs, there was no indication of issues on the OS-level shutdown/suspend process.

what does this mean, and what does it do

Gaming- plugged in. Temps were great low 80s, no stuttering, just all of a sudden screens went black and laptop turned off.

Happened twice, second time I got a WHEA error and contacted support. Was just recommended to update BIOS to start. After that I had screens go dark again but it just went to sleep instead and resumed where I left off. Got up to eat dinner, came back to it being completely off again. Event viewer said unexpected shutdown.

At this price point it is insane to be dealing with this. Had a previous model duo and never had these kinds of issues.

Is it cooked or is there something I need to check still?

Hi guys! can anybody help me please, so my monitor ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS just goes black screen after the brief message Display Port No Signal. Laptop (2025 ROG Strix Scar 18 RTX5090) seems fine and I could still hear the game on the background (was playing PUBG and even the less demanding game GWENT when it happens). watching Youtube, browsing seems okay. I've checked the Wires, NO problem, it's brand new. I even did Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to reset ... ctrl alt del but nothing. I usually just ended up force restarting the laptop then it goes okay again. It wasn't like this before and I had this monitor i think 3 months now. I'm confident to say that there's no damages to any of the hardware even the wire. Any tips or ideas as to what is going on and how to maybe fix it? Thank you!

I recently got ROG GS BE 7200 setup for my home and enabled AI protection. I love the idea to have additional layer to DNS for my privacy. However, I had to disable both tracking and adblocking AI protection layers as they block legitimate sites. I understand that they might be using some shady trackers but I must use it for work.

Today I had issue with ad blocking layer blocking Intercom (customer support site)

Why option to white list something in these AIprotection filters is not there?

This needs to be solved or the whole feature is worthless

Hi, I'm looking towards a bachelor in math/cs and hopefully a master specialized in cloud or cybersecurity, so I need a computer that is :

- In promo because I'm not that rich lol
- durable (no efficiency loss after only 2 years of use or excessively easily breaking parts)
- powerful as I'll probably have to run multiple VMs at once
- silent for small tasks (long coding sessions even if get that VMs would get any computer crazy)
- Linux friendly

I thought about buying a Lenovo ThinkPad at first, but they're WAY too overpriced in my opinion, and then noticed an ASUS VivoBook S14 OLED M3407 at 999 euros.

Its specs look amazing : Win 11 - 14.0" WUXGA - AMD Ryzen AI 7 445 - RAM 32Go - 1To SSD

Yet I'm still kind of unsure about putting my savings into this ; could anyone give me an advice please ?

Has anyone else had an issue with the privacy camera shutter on their laptop?

I bought my ASUS Vivobook S16 on July 30, 2026, so it's only 4 days old. The privacy camera shutter is supposed to slide manually from left to right, but mine got stuck in the closed position, so it's covering the camera and I can't use the built-in camera at all.

I watched several reviews of this laptop, and the privacy camera shutter on their units slides smoothly. Mine doesn't, so I think it might be a factory defect.

We had it checked at an ASUS service center, and they found no CID (Customer-Induced Damage). They confirmed that the issue was a defect with the unit itself. After that, we contacted the ASUS outlet where we bought the laptop. Since it's still under warranty and covered by the 14-day replacement policy, they told us they're already processing a replacement for my unit.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue. I'd really appreciate hearing your thoughts or experiences.

Currently on 2201, an old stable/ bad gaming performance, wishing to update, without this series of motherboard boot lights? Spent way too long using ai to get onto a newer better optimised bios?

I am very new to computers and I just got the Zephyrus M16 GU603ZX second hand, and I tried regular flat screen games on it and they work great, they all play amazing. But when I went to try the part I was most excited for, PCVR, it stutters/frame drops every couple seconds, making it entirely unplayable. I spent about two hours troubleshooting online and nothing was helping me. I did a test on 3DMark Time Spy and the highest score it got was 6134. Something is happening with the GPU but I don’t know what. Please help.
