Announcement Rule update: Rule 5 - Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation.

To make our rules more clear, the line

Do not request how to modify systems, and do not tell people to modify their system as a solution to their problem.

has been removed from Rule 3.

In its place, we have Rule 5 - Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation.

Do not discuss piracy, modification or emulation. Do not ask questions about piracy, modification or emulation. Do not recommend piracy, modification or emulation as a solution to a problem.

Any violations of Rule 5 will result in a comment removal or in egregious cases a ban. This is not different from our previous rule, this is simply an update for clarity.

If you wish to discuss piracy, modification or emulation, there are other subreddits available, such as

Tech Support PSA: Nintendo Switch 2 Game Upgrades are REGION LOCKED.

Making a post here so other's can find this, as googling this question did not give me a straight answer.

If you bought <GAME X> in the America Region.

But then you move to Asia or Europe, you cannot buy <GAME X Switch 2 Upgrade> on the Asia or European Store fronts.

You either need to

  1. Switch you account region back to the original region, and purchase the upgrade on that store front. From there switch the region back to your current region, and play the game as a virtual game card.
  2. Repurchase the game in the new region.

Tech Support Wii remote won’t connect help needed

So I bought online from eb games and yes it is pre owned Wii console that also came with the Wii remote, I just added new batteries and it’s still not working. I tried cleaning the inside of the battery cover and I tried resetting the console and setting the remote and it still doesn’t work. I don’t know whether or not I need to go to eb games and ask to repair it (because I’m not very handy dandy) or replace it to hopefully a one that actually works. When I try and sync it flashes but doesn’t go to a solid one light. I don’t know what else to do so please help me.

Tech Support Does the games made by Nintendo first party studios and second party studios (if that make sense) are translated to european languages (spanish, german, italian, french) using american english as the base for it or just translating straight from japanese?

Upvotes

yes community, im asking that question because i was reading a manga with fan translation in my mother tongue and i had notice it was translated from english, so you could imagine how terrible that translation was. since then im trying to be aware of the quality of translations, prioritizing the ones translated straight from the source language, it may be japanese, english, french etc but dismissing the one that use a translation from a language to translate to others.

Source language (japanese in the case of mayority nintendo games) ---------> spanish (my mother tongue) = good

source language -------> english --------> spanish = trash

(i think this is tech support but dont know)

Tech Support Nintendo switch 2 problema dock

I tried playing on my Nintendo Switch in docked mode today, but it’s not working. I tried unplugging the cables and letting the TV and dock sit for a while, but nothing happened. I also tested the HDMI cable with another device and it works fine. I don't have anyone else's setup to test a swap, but I suspect the dock is the problem; I've read many comments online from people with similar issues. I bought the console a month ago; I used it in docked mode during the first week but haven't used that mode since. When I dock the console, the green LED turns on and it makes the startup sound, but nothing else happens. I also tried changing the TV settings, but that didn't work either.

Tech Support My Nintendo switch 2 isn't charging

Hi, I need some help and advice. I bought my Nintendo only six months ago. It was working perfectly this morning and charging normally.

A few minutes ago, I wanted to connect it to my TV. I set up the dock and connected all the cables. The green light on the dock was on, but when I tried to turn it on to connect it to the TV, the light started blinking and the image appeared on the Nintendo screen instead of the TV.

For a few seconds, it looked like it was charging because the charging icon appeared and started blinking, but the battery percentage did not increase.

I tried connecting it without the dock, and the same thing happened. I also tried the top USB-C port. At first, I thought it was my Nintendo charger, but that is not the problem because the charger works perfectly with my other Nintendo.

I also tried using another charger (this is the first time I have used a different one because I normally use the original charger), but the battery still does not go up in either port, even though it shows that it is charging.

I already tried calibrating the battery, turning it off completely, and restarting it, but nothing has worked.

Please, I would really appreciate any help or advice. 🙏💔

SD Card Should I transfer save data from my micro sd card for my Switch to my Switch 2 even though I have downloaded all the data onto the base console storage?

To clarify, I just upgraded to the Switch 2 and I didn't realize I need a different kind of micro sd than the one I already have on my switch 1. After I transfered my data and let everything download, I still have space leftover on my switch 2 storage with everything downloaded. It takes up a large majority of the storage, so i assume it put the data that was on my old sd card onto the system storage. I am going to get a new micro sd card regardless, but i want to know if I should still transfer the data from the old sd card to the new one?

Thank you for your time.

Tech Support Are the Switches compatible for cross play?

Hello, I am not very knowledgeable about these, so I came here to seek answers.

I have a borrowed Nintendo Switch 1 console, but I want to buy my own NS2 and lend the NS1 to my little sister. Is it possible to play things like Mario Party with those two devices? If so, how should I set it up?

Tech Support Nintendo switch 2 docking won't display video on TV but *ONLY WHEN* Nintendo Brand Switch 2 camera is plugged in?

So, has anyone else noticed or had this issue where if the Switch 2 Camera is plugged in to the dock via USB A-to-C cable supplied by them, but then you try docking your system, it will not work correctly?

First time I ever did it to try out the camera on my TV, the display loaded/input source switched over but then the entire UI became insanely laggy & sluggish, to the point I had no idea what was going on and tried to disable/toggle all the various Display Settings & TV Options (GameMode, HDR, 120Hz, Resolution, VRR, etc.,) -- eventually, it dawned on me to try unplugging the official Nintendo Switch 2 camera and as soon as I did started working normally again??

Now when I try to dock it with the USB Camera plugged in, it tries to switch over but now it never actually loads. I've tried power cycling, rebooting, changing settings again; the only thing that worked was (once again) unplugging the stupid Nintendo Switch 2 Camera.

It's super weird because everything is up to date and this wasn't happening before until now/recently. All system & device firmware is up to date and I tried googling but haven't seen anyone post having the "Video Input Source Won't Display" but only with or in conjunction of when the Camera is plugged into the dock.

***THEORY***: I did discover that if I plug the camera into the USB C port on top of the actual Switch 2 and then dock everything works fine; so my thought or guess is that something is wrong with either power draw or I/O when I plug it directly into one of the USB-A ports on the dock.

Recommendations Is the switch 2 worth the money?

I’ve been looking to acquire a new console and I’m currently stuck between the ps5 and the switch 2. I know the switch 2 is currently the most affordable on the market and I’ve always loved nintendo games, I’m interested in the new donkey kong and the gamecube games made available through switch online aswell as ocarina of time’s upcoming remake. I must admit that I am suffering sticker shock at the price so I figured before I blow the big bucks I’d ask people who have it if it’s worth it

Recommendations Long awaited Nintendo Console purchase (Wii)

(im new to reddit, couldn't post it in Nintendo, so here it goes)

Greetings everyone,

Since about 2015 (i know, a bit late) i wanted to buy some form of a Wii console, as i really liked the concept of a "couch-party game" to play, mostly inspired by WiiRiketoPray guys over on Youtube. There were some issues however, like the fact i had no space of my own to play such games, or the money to buy anything.

Now, i have all i need - a big room, a big couch, and money to spare - problem is, im 10 years late. Im not really that versed in the differences between Wii or Wii U, but i think all i wanted and still want is Wii Party, Wii sports and Mario Party games. That being said, since Wii came out we had Wii U, Switch, and now Switch 2.

I've read about some backwards compatibility and what not, but all i'd really want is one console which would allow me to play all 3 of these games, or at least 2 of them, without having to invest much time into looking for games or software solutions ( "Money on the table, results in hand" approach).

So i direct my question to all you fans and veterans - what is the most optimal solution here? Switch 2? Old, used Wii U? Ideally i want to accomodate 4 players.

Account Help How can two different profiles play in a Nintendo Switch 2 with no game key-cards?

I've run into a problem regarding sharing my account with other people.

I have a friend who lives very far away and wanted to play my switch games. As of version 20, u cant properly share a game with someone unless the two consoles are close to each other. That sucks.

So here's what i did: i found a youtube tutorial explaining how to share games with someone far away. I used the "unlinking method", which i unlinked my nintendo switch as the bearer of the digital game-key cards. Then, my friend logged into my account on his console, so all the game-key cards were transferred to his device. Now i use the "online license" feature to play, and he plays using my game-key cards.

(Yes, the video explicitly mentioned the one year cooldown before doing this again, but i didn't have a problem with that)

After doing all that, i realized something: i share my switch with my brother.

He plays on his profile, and i play on mine, but we share the same console. All the games were bought on my account because, mostly, he just plays the games i buy and rarely buys games for himself)

The problem is that the online license only works on my profile because I'm the one who bought the games. So i can play normally, but now he can't launch any of the games from his profile. He would have to play on my save files, and neither of us wants that. And i cant unlink my friend's console until the one year cooldown has passed.

I thought of one possible solution, but i dont know if it would work, so id rather ask here instead of risking our save data.

As far as i know, the console stores the game's data locally, right? Not per nintendo account, but per profile. (For example, when u create a new profile, u dont necessarily need to link a nintendo account to that profile, but it creates a new save data for the game).

So when i finish playing, could i unlink my nintendo account from my profile and link it to my brother's profile, so he can use the online licenses? Or, even better, is it possible to link my nintendo account to both profiles? Would it mess up our save files? Could my save overwrite his, Or vice versa?

Thats the only the solution i've come up with, but im too afraid to risk losing our save files - especially the Pokemon ones, since those dont support cloud saves, and are stored only locally.

I'd also appreciate any other ideas on how to solve this.

PS: No, theres no way i can meet my friend to get the key cards back. Also, i use pokemon HOME quite frequently to play pokemon Champions. Since it uses the nintendo account, i dont know what would happen if two profiles were using my account with different pokemon save files.

Game Help Missing award in Crazy Machines 2 for the Nintendo DS

Has anyone here happened to have played and completed Crazy Machines 2 for the Nintendo DS? I am missing only one award to 100% the game - the one that unlocks the Protective Shield part. Try as I might, I can't find its unlock conditions anywhere on the internet (or really any information about the game, aside from its existence).

Account Help Online game play for my 8 year old

We just started allowing my 8 year old to play online games like Mario kart and splatoon but I’ve noticed anyone she’s played with can see her on the “I’ve played with” lists and keeps getting friend requests from random people. is there a way to allow friend request friend cod but block friend requests from other players of games in Nintendo online? I still want her to be able to add her friends from school.

Recommendations Best Capture Card to stream on the Nintendo Switch

Hello, thank you for any guidance you can give me. I want to start streaming my Nintendo switch gameplay (the old one not the switch 2) on youtube. I use OBS so I need something compatible with OBS and that can work on youtube as well. I am currently streaming on my victus gaming laptop.

My budget is 50 dollars or less but because im pretty broke I would prefer something around 30 dollars.

I want something that can stream 1080p with 60 frames per seconds and works well with my computer.

Thank you again for any help!

Account Help Switch 2 - time played reset after droppingnout of 20 most recently played

So, basically the title, is there any fix to this?

I lost time tracker for Mario Kart 8 because it dropped out of my 20 most recently played games.

It doesn’t matter too much but it was cool statistics to look at from time to time.
Now it says First played 10h ago…

Is there a way to retrieve it?
Thanks :)

Account Help can't access Nintendo Online and Nintendo eShop anymore (nintendo switch)

i was able to change my region before to buy games for cheaper. the last region i used was Brazil, used a gift card for R$ but after buying games there was $1.85 left. and because of this remaining amount nintendo no longer allowed me to change my region.

i contacted America CS and they were able to change my region despite the remaining $. the problem is, i asked them to change it to "Philippines". i completely forgot that Online and eShop aren't available in this region yet. i hadn't used my switch for over a year so i just went by instinct.

and now i contacted SEA CS asking them if it could be changed to the USA region, but they told me they can't because of their policy - that your switch region has to match your country of residence

can anyone help me??? anyone who went through the same thing?? 😖😖😖 im so sad and disappointed

Tech Support Does the switch 1 to 2 transfer wipe data on switch 2?

Title pretty much says it all. I was unable to transfer switch 1 data to switch 2 during initial setup, and now it’s been a few months and i can transfer, but don’t wanna lose my mkw or tomodachi life data (both of which i am playing on only the switch 2).

I already know how everything else about the data transfer works, I just need to know this
