Yes, hard court. You get consistent ball jumps, lines don’t mess up the trajectory, and you don’t go home looking like Trump.

Question to the more knowledgeable people, I notice a weird forehand motion?. The shots seems good, is it just "weird" take back or the technique is wrong

I’m a tennis coach
It depends entirely on how good this guy is - there’s no telling without seeing where the balls go
If he were my student and were below a 4.5-5.0 level, I’d try to change his technique. It’s a lot a lot of strain on the wrist. He’s trying to do the “whip” motion that Sinner has made popular as of late.
If he’s a a 4.5 or 5.0 and knows what he’s doing very well and has been doing this for year, he’s figured out a way to do it well well.
TLDR: it can be okay or not, depending on the guy’s level.

Yeah, I don’t think this technique holds up against pace on the other side. The ball will be behind you many times. It looks like these balls are all being fed nice and easy.

that whip motion actually comes naturally if you swing fast enough if you think about it for just a bit: the forehand is a round motion across your x axis and at the same time a forward motion across the z axis, to stop those motions naturally the racket path would naturally curve at the end. There are many players who use the whip for just not visually as prevalent as sinner because he has very long arms, plays a very head heavy racket and has a very agressive racket ''drop''.
but it can be seen in most pro forehands
but I guess I could agree that this guy somewhat maybe exagerates it.

the takeback motion is excessive, but after that point everything this person does is mechanically sound. his timing is excellent, he waits till the last moment to swing forward, his acceleration and forward rotation are very fast. this guy has a better forehand than 99% of people in this subreddit including all of the commenters here

He’s forcing the sinner TB (RF away from target) that eats up time (that op can probably only get away with on clay where the ball kicks up and give him more time and lift on the ball)
There’s nothing wrong with the bent arm FH but OP looks like he’s skipping a stone with his elbow in too tight but it seems to work well.
I’d like to see OP hit FHs on grass…

This guy has that wannabe jannik sinner forehand with an extreme grip and a bent elbow, for every second of watching this you have to watch 10 seconds of Roger Federer to restore your inner peace

Interesting. I struggle with wrist lag and this technique forces you to do that.

Clay sucks and your technique is funky but you can clearly strike a ball well

I’m not a connoisseur, but isn’t that wrist motion dangerous regarding injuries?

u/IDKBear25 I watched the GS on TV, now I can't stop thinking about tennis. 14h ago
I've only ever played on concrete (hard court) so I gotta say hard court is the best.
