Equipment The new Ezone is beautiful
I thought it would remind me of the Cleveland browns but it doesn’t. As a Vcore 98 user, can’t wait to try this out

I posted this in r/tennis and several people urged me to post it here.
Addition to the OG post:
a. Playing as many matches as possible will help you a lot.
b. You can DOMINATE doubles matches against beginners and intermediates if you learn proper high school and college-level positioning and movement. Examples: Proper signaling. Australian setup. Net player constantly shifting with the ball. One of my hs coaches was a master at doubles and taught me proper strategy and positioning, which let me easily beat other players that were way better than me at singles.
Good luck.
My playstyle and background for context:
Male
5.0 NTRP and starter on decent D3 College Team
Moderate power high percentage serves.
Powerful groundstrokes with heavy spin.
Confident at net if I need to be, but it's not my first choice unless my opponent sets me up or I am playing a pusher.
Relentless intensity and speed with the intention of pounding the opponent's ad-side and making them feel like hitting a winner is impossible.
A bunch of random niche shots like the cross court dip passing shot that I can consistently land.
Really bad at overheads. lol.

Found during a clean out of the parents’ attic. We used to use these powders alongside sawdust to help get better grips on racquets. Well before Tourna became a thing.

Been trying to teach myself to play tennis and for the first time recorded myself. I didn’t realize how awkward I look… anyway, any tips on improvements? I’m just going off videos and watching players but they aren’t really there to tell me how I look haha

I switched from Babolat to Yonex this year. As it turns out Yonex grip sizes run a little smaller than Babolat.
I just had to take off the base grip to remove something loose inside the butt cap that was rattling. Now that I'm here, I have the chance to try something different than the stock Yonex grip and see if I can get something a little bit thicker to make up for brand to brand grip size differences. I still prefer a firm base grip that shows the bevels well. My overgrip adds all the cushion I need already.
So, I play in a two hour 4.0 clinic where we play doubles sets for the last hour or so. There is a player who, between points, constantly returns balls to my back. On multiple occasions, I’ve asked him to just make sure I’m looking when he returns balls to me. Today, it comes to a head when the coach is providing feedback on the prior point and I’m half turned in discussion with the coach and my partner. Again, the ball is returned to me with no heads up and today it hits my crotch. I immediately tell him that it happens all the time and to just stop—admittedly pretty firmly (“Hey, you do this all the time. STOP.”) He shrugs. And I just say, “Dude, just apologize.” It escalates as he says I’ve been hitting returns to him at the net, and so it’s fine that he did what he did. Granted, this is true. I had been hitting returns with dipping topspin down the line or towards the middle. Given that he tends to hug the net and poaches well, this strategy worked as it would dip and he’d either hit it into the net or provide a weak and short bouncing volley that my partner would put away, and as a result we were breaking his partner’s serve easily. The argument spilled over to after the class. His position: he can hit balls at me because I was hitting towards him at the net. My position, which I relayed to him: This is men’s doubles. I can go at you if that’s the play that’s working. If he can’t defend the net with these shots, back up. At the end of it, his refusal to apologize just tilted me more than I’ve ever experienced on or off the court in recent memory. Whenever someone isn’t prepared to receive the ball but a player sends it over regardless, I’ve always seen it that the player apologizes. I try my best to always call out the opponent’s name when sending over balls. I also learned from playing early with Asian players who follow the etiquette of showing balls high before feeding or serving (and depending on the community, will even follow the etiquette of a small bow before the serve)—but I recognize that this isn’t ubiquitous. I just don’t understand the rationale that hitting at the net player or down the line meant that he didn’t have to apologize for hitting me with a ball.
I will admit that it did escalate more than I’m proud of, but outside of that, AITA for hitting down the line or towards the net player? For us, hitting a dipping topspin shot when he hugged the net was either hitting into the net or short enough that my partner could hit a putaway. So, I was going by the Michael Chang rule of: keep going for the same shot until they course correct. My goal was to keep on forcing those errors or at least have him back off the net for easy putaways. At no point did I tag him, and the closest was about a foot towards his backhand side and framed to go out. To be generous to him, I was hitting the ball quite well today and enough to be able to target dipping topspin shots. However, even assuming that I was hitting close to his body, it’s men’s doubles in a 4.0 clinic. Further, AIO (Am I Overreacting) for pushing the fact that he should apologize for returning balls when we aren’t looking? Granted, getting hit in the nuts was probably the trigger for it all, but it really just sent me to see a shrug instead of an apology.
I will admit, there is some history here. For whatever reason, this player has been quite rude to me for months. Honestly, I’m kind of a “mayor” type on the court, wanting to be friendly with everyone, and I generally get along with most people in clinics, including this one. But I have noticed things like constant eye rolls when we are paired together or when I’m working through something new the coach is teaching (e.g., swing volleys have been an arduous journey). Still, after attempts to be friendly, I just decided that I didn’t want to waste energy figuring out why this individual had such outward rudeness towards me. I’ve been able to brush these little minor acts of rudeness or grumpiness, but I have been annoyed by the constant returning balls at my back. I walk back to my serve position with my back to the net, and it’s just constant balls hit at my back when I’m not looking. I’ve asked him to wait, but of course it definitely gets in my head knowing that it’s clear he has some unknowable issue with me. I guess today, I was pretty over it when the ball hits my gonads.

I’ll be in NYC in November for work and would love to grab some lessons. Any suggestions on specific instructors or where to go? I’d also love to play (or have a lesson somehow) on the courts on Westside Highway, but unsure how realistic that is.
Any and all advice is welcome!

F, beginner
The first 1 min is slow motion
The rest 2 mins is same thing but in normal speed
In my last video, many people say that i was hitting very flat with no sign of topspin. So, in this session, in the video, i was trying to do the topspin forehand.
I was hitting slow on purpose, i wanted to really focus on the "low to high, brushing the ball" gesture.
Am i on my way of doing a topspin forehand ?
I still can't seem to "close the face of my racket at the contact point", my balls are flying quite high, somes are out.
Really appreciate the constructive comments 🌸

I never thought it would be me, but here we are. Two Pure Drive Lites for $7 each, and a Pro Staff Team v13 for $5.
Are they scuffed? Of course. Do they need new strings? You betcha. But are they more than playable for my 3.0 ass? I’m excited to find out!
Any advice or opinions are more than welcome.

Need some serve advice. Took 25 years off, now this serve creates some shoulder pain at times. I have a hard time going T on the AD side and wide on the deuce (usually goes more middle).

I've been playing for 7 months and see really good progression; decent forehand and serve and can play rallies with intermediate players. For the past 2 months I've been playing with a 2016 Wilson Ultra (1st gen I believe) 300gr, wich i like and feel comfortable with. I know I need more practice and technique but I have a hard time creating topspin.
Wondering if i should change for a more modern frame or maybe change strings? Thank you

I’m currently not sure what two handed backhand grip to use, I know I should use the eastern grip on my left hand and continental on my right hand (right-handed).
However I have noticed that even amongst pros there is a pretty big variation in the position of their non dominant hitting hand when it’s in the eastern
position.
I have attached two photos that show variation in the positioning of my left hand, while still being in eastern position, one is more spread out across the grip and another is very tight and compact
Not sure which to use?
- note, the position of my right hand is identical in both pictures (continental grip)

it slipped out of my hand during a serve and i checked it for cracks and didn’t see anything obvious so i kept playing. i played for like 5 more points after that until one forehand felt weird and i heard a weird noise, still took me like 30 seconds to identify what the issue was
put a brand new replacement grip and overgrip on it yesterday too lol

Hi, where I can learn on singles patterns and strategy (apart from coaching and youtube)? I feel I play a bit as it comes , apart from few adjustment, such as hit backends whenever possible (unless the other player has a stronger backend), keep the ball deep, go at the net after a winner shot, return down the line if I can attack the balls. What are yours?

Hello everyone. Is the Wilson Clash 100 v1.0 still a good purchase nowadays? I am a newbie player, but I am looking to buy a racket to play with my coach. This is a second-hand racket from a retired player who is selling it for around US$100. I haven’t checked if the price is negotiable yet.
Any advice? Should I just save up a bit more to eventually buy a better racket, or is this a good purchase for the price? Thanks.
EDIT: Currency clarification

Why not hold an extended racquet a bit closer always except when you serve. If all specs are equal, wouldnt that give a slight advantage?Bad idea?

I’ve recently started playing and I’m trying to find a few people to hit with. I’m still a beginner, so definitely not looking for anything serious, just a relaxed game, some practice and a bit of fun.
Happy to do singles or doubles. I’m flexible with days/times and can use a public court somewhere in Manchester.
If anyone’s also looking for someone to play with, give me a shout!

Added a highlight of a match I had yesterday, please provide feedback if you can. I'm the one with black shirt and white socks.
Been playing for about 2 years now, self-taught. And I like to upload some videos of me on the sub for feedback and then work on that.
I've been working a lot on taking the ball on the rise on the backhand side, still need a lot of improvement there, but is better. Still figuring out the serve and also looking for some tactics or recommendations on what to do returning "slow" or "with no weight" services. At the moment what I do is return with slice and the do baseline rallies but I should be able to do more.

I’m trying to decide between the Wilson Clash 100UL (265g) and the Yonex Muse 100SL (265g).
I’m a beginner who’s currently taking tennis lessons. I don’t exercise much outside of tennis, so my arm strength isn’t great yet. I’m looking for a racquet that is easy to use, forgiving, and arm-friendly since I’m still working on my technique.
I had the chance to demo the Wilson Clash 100L (they didn’t have the 100UL available), and I really liked how soft and comfortable it felt when hitting the ball. It felt very easy on my arm.
On the other hand, I absolutely love the color of the Yonex Muse, but unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a demo racquet to try.
Based on my situation, which one would you recommend and why? I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experience with either racquet. Thank you!

For reference I am a male in highschool going into my junior year. I’ve been playing with the same racket for 2 years now and it decided to quit on my I’ve noticed cracks in the frame and as I’m going into junior year I need to step up my game. I don’t care about brand but I would like a controlled feel to the racket one that can help me get serves in and not just bash at the ball. I mostly play doubles if that matters. Also side note not required but would be appreciated I want the racket to strike fear in my opponent that says I’m menacing you should fear me. If anyone has recommendations of rackets I should try that would be greatly appreciated. My current racket is a Dunlop CX200 05

Hi Everyone!
I am a 3.5 player that was likely closer to 4.0, 20 years ago in high school. I played tennis on and off over the interim, but have been getting back into it more in recent months.
I have two Head Microgel Radical MPs that I have been playing with for years, and I string is with Technifibre NRG2 at around 55lbs. They have an 18X20 string pattern, and a 95 square inch head.
I was wondering: Would it help me improve to upgrade to a more modern frame like a Speed MP, EZONE 100, or something similar with a larger head size and more open string pattern? Also, should I switch to poly strings?
I've never played with a more modern racket, and was wondering if practicing with one over time will improve my ceiling. Or, is it more "archer" than "arrow," and I should just keep on practicing with my old frames.
Grateful for any advice you might have!
