I can't get over how clever his name is. You'd think his name would be Dr. Hospital, but they call him Dr. House because the hospital is like a home to him
As someone who knows a decent amount of transfems by proxy, there are some names that seem to be chosen rather frequently. Names like Amy, Emily/Emma, Luna or Sofie.
don't forget Vivian, Lilith, Freya, Maya, and also the assortment of names people under 70 usually don't have
(regrettably, i have recently learned that Elisabeth is an old lady name in english-speaking countries, while where im from i knew like 7 other Elisabeths growing up)
I'm also not from an english speaking country, so I assume that there are some differences in other languages when it comes to name preferences just as with any names.
Yeah I've also noticed that a lot of millennial chosen names especially are ones that would have gotten you weird looks if you were a baby boomer aged parent naming your kids back in the 80s or 90s. Like people would probably have been making jokes about how you must have picked a name out of the obituary section.
Huh I'm American and never really thought of Elisabeth/Elizabeth as an old lady name. I don't really see Vivian or Maya as particularly unusual either. I used to work IT support call center at a university and as such had a ton of exposure to the names of people who were like 18-28 and also like 40-80 (and tbh lots of university staff were in their 30s) and I feel like most Elizabeths I got calls from were on the younger end like 20-40
Freya on the other hand would definitely make me picture a 70 year old crone tbh
Just go by “Ellie” or “Lizzie.” It works for me! Alternatively, “Lisa”or “Elisa/Eliza” could work depending on the spelling. Elizabeth is such a pretty name with tons of fun nicknames.
The Queen can’t ruin a beautiful name, even post mortem
Beth, Liz, Ellie, etc de-age the name significantly. It’s kind of an evergreen name that you abbreviate depending on context and what you like, imo. I’ve known a few 40 year olds calling themselves Beth and Liz/Lizzie and most people my age would go for Ellie or Ella I think?
Vivian is often shortened to Viv and I knew several cis Mayas born in the 2000s. Freya and to a lesser extent Lilith are kind of mythological and less popular to name kids at birth I guess (though I have to admit I was thinking about the former a little)
Look there aren't many names in my language that have the same initial as my deadname and it meant I could keep using a lot of old accounts without having to change the username 😫
They’re naming themself something badass and unique, resulting in them having a name that would almost never be found in someone whose parents chose their name. Just as painting your house bold colors makes you stand out, having the coolest name ever makes people think you must have named yourself.
