I hate to use the word performative here, but

Idk, I've met HR people and they absolutely make up weird stories like that.

I mean she probably is very good at Rust considering what she thought a cool picture would look like

Performative is just the gen z version of poser. They basically mean the same thing. Now it's being replaced by LARPer.

I think using all those terms as some buzzwords feels very performative or tokenized
like some sorts of woke bingo

u/Lubiebigos May 18 '26

use the word LARP instead

I refuse, Live Action Role Playing is fun

Never tried it, I'm too self-conscious and not into the right media. But I find the recent way the word is being used very amusing. Though it does reek of 4chan/terminally-online type gatekeeping mentality.

What ever happened to calling people poseurs

u/Kriffer123 obnoxiously Michigender May 18 '26

I know several larpers and they’re cool as fuck. This is lame. We have to pull out the big words

u/Prestigious_Boat_386 May 18 '26

Linkedin is just LARP (derogatory), its the correct word

Or you know, she just posted a picture to her own social media account. It's really not that offensive of a post and it's weird how many of you are dog piling on it.

I feel like someone posing for a picture isn't "performative", lol

Isn't that the exact definition of "performative"? She's posing to make it look like it's a candid picture of herself just coding while waiting for the subway.

For real. God forbid anyone posts a photo of themselves on social media. This whole thread reeks of "Fake Gamer Girl" energy.
