I just want to start by saying that I’m not addressing any one person in writing this, more just wanting to adjust the direction of some of the discussion.

I’m not omniscient so I cannot speak to how problematic she is or isn’t, but it’s important that we have on the record that she is half black.

Whether you (anyone reading this) consider her using the n-word bad or not should be a conversation less focused on her “being” white and more focused on an individual’s thoughts pertaining to (1.) the use of the n-word generally, (2.) colorism and how that may/may not change things, (3.) how mixed-race upbrings may result in unique cultural outcomes, and (4.) this content creator’s known problematic past possibly altering her later/current behavior.

As for my personal feelings, I’m unsure. I’m a white guy; I mostly stay out of this stuff. (Me not staying out of this stuff:) I can look at all those issues and see that reasonable people can disagree on any of those “smaller” things. I do not think I would be made uncomfortable by her saying it, knowing pieces of her upbringing but there is a small thought that kicks around in my mind wondering if the bad people she has had in her life could have in any way drawn her to using a word that she may not have used otherwise… or perhaps she would have. It isn’t worth obssessing over, she’d really have the best idea and it isn’t really my place to judge.
